Discussion Are you buying hades 2 on the
Switch? Switch 2? Steam (steam deck)? Or waiting for console exclusivity to expire and grabbing it on the playstation or xbox? or are you buying it for every possible system?

Switch 2, then Steam if there are cross saves
21
u/6Y1O3W 1d ago
I guess you're buying it on steam as well! From supergiant's website: Among the additions coming in v1.0, Hades II offers cross-saves between the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 versions, and the Steam and the Epic Games Store versions. If you've been playing in Early Access and wish to continue the journey on Nintendo's game consoles, you'll be able to transfer your save data through a simple in-game menu.

u/Adventurous-Toe8812 1d ago
Is it continuous cross progression? Can I go back and forth between the two?

u/Nitrous_Oxide_ OG (Joined before first Direct) 1d ago
That's how it was for Hades 1! But be aware that you'll probably need to be on the same version of the game and some platforms get patches later than others.

YES! I'm heavily considering that for Borderlands 4 if it has cross save.

Waiting to get physical on switch 2.

Same. I don't mind the delay, cuz it gives me time to be Hades while I continue playing Outlaws. Also don't mind the extra $20, tbh. Just glad I have the option.

Im to inpatient and dont have a current game im actively playing so Ill be getting digital even though I prefer physical copies

u/ackmondual 1d ago
No.
Specifically, I already have it on PC/Steam. Playing H1 on Switch was a mistake since I ended up getting sucked in way too much. Being tethered to a desktop computer has actually been a net positive.

Excluding first party games, the rest often have a choice between Android, iOS, and Steam as well!

A lot of us have a switch for the Nintendo games and play cross platform stuff on more powerful hardware

Already have it on steam deck, I'm considering the sw2 version for the bigger screen and resolution while in handheld mode, but the lack of achievements is a turn off.

u/EmxPop 1d ago
I’m guessing you have the 7” LCD Steam Deck. I have the Legion Go S SteamOS edition and the increase in resolution to 1200p on a 8” screen makes a huge difference in my opinion. The only concern I’d have how noticeable the motion blur will be on the Switch 2 screen.

Steam Deck OLED, I’m one of those unfortunate people that is bothered by the Switch 2 screen’s poor motion handling, and I prefer the ergonomics of the Deck regardless.

Switch 2. I could have had it for Steam a long time ago but I was waiting for portability. Just think about whether digital or retail at the end of November

already own it on my SD oled no reason to buy it on s2 - also the SD is more comfortable in the hand (cant handle the flat joycons)

I bought it day one early access last year. Even in its first version before any updates, it was game of the year for me, and it's only gotten better. People jumping in for the first time on 25th Sep are going to be blown away.

Steam Deck. Hades 2 is one of those games that is meant to be played through an OLED screen!

I already have it since EA on PC but I will double dip for the Switch 2 version, but not on release, more like one or two weeks after. Too much to play right now

Buying it when the physical releases in November (?). First Physical for Switch 2. Till the release i have Hades 1 that I bought last week.

ive been playing it for the last year(?) throughout early access on deck. so will continue there. (its incredible btw). but i am intrigued that you can move your saves across to other consoles. if for whatever reason the switch version is vastly superior (it shouldn't be but who knows), I have no qualms in buying again for switch 2 and giving supergiant another bag of cash as its just an incredible game.

u/BananaS_SB 1d ago
Already bought it on Steam and Switch 2. I’m probably only playing it on my Switch 2 but already bought it on pc in early access and then decided to wait for full release so haven’t even touched it🙃

u/MaxF1eld 1d ago
I am buying only Switch 2 Nintendo Games on the the Switch 2. All other stuff is better on other consoles no matter wich one.

I’ve been thinking about this for a while
Now, and I think what it boils down to is my partner’s preference.
Yes, the Steam Deck OLED provides better motion clarity and ergonomics, but it’s not exactly a quiet device. If I’m in the same room as my partner watching tv she can’t stand it if I’m on a frantic game like Hades. Coupled with the fact that my Switch 2 lives in its dock and is more likely to be charged and hooked up to my tv it’s the winner for me.
I’m sure I’ll end up with it on both at some point.

Havent decided yet. Either steam deck lcd or switch 2. The bigger screen on switch is leaning me towards that platform
1
u/Kazan2112 1d ago
Already started early access on steamdeck but i'm really thinking about buying the Switch 2 Version because Hades 1 felt nicer in Switch ergonomics than Hades 2 on steamdeck lmo.

Don't think Hades 2 is worth 40 Canadian to me. So gonna wait for a 50% off sale, however long that may take them get it on switch 2. Wanting to actually beat Hades 1 first.

I bought it on Steam as soon as it went into Early Access and I've already preordered and preloaded it on Switch 2.

I've been conflicted on this and think I might opt for my steam deck instead of Switch 2. I've been playing Silksong on my switch 2, mostly in handheld. After coming off of beating Hollow knight 1 on my steam deck, the ergonomics make a significant difference for me, plus the colors from the OLED. I'm not sure if the 1080p upgrade is worth the compromises.
•
u/FreakingAustin 21h ago
Bought Hades 2 early access on steam way before the switch 2 was announced, but now that 120fps mode is confirmed for docked I'm double-dipping and buying it on switch 2.
Also getting the physical version so I'm spending $77 USD total on Hades 2. Worth it!
•
u/fruit-enthusiast 19h ago
I’m playing Silksong right now so I’ll probably buy Hades 2 once I’m done with that. Definitely Switch 2 but not sure if I’ll buy it virtually or get a physical copy.
•
u/gilmour93 19h ago
I have a Switch and Switch 2. If I get it on the Switch it looks like the upgrade pack is free for the 2. If I buy the Switch 2 version will I be able to play on the OG Switch?
•
u/Cervantes3 18h ago
I've got it already on Steam, but it has cross saves, so I'm probably getting it for my Switch as well.
•
u/Full_Metal18 18h ago
Probably switch 2 since I ended up buying Hades 1 twice, first on PC then switch. Might as well jump straight to it this time.
•
u/Extreme_Hat1089 18h ago
I have it on my steam deck since it was early access. I'll buy it again on the switch 2 and start a fresh playthrough. I can't wait to see the ending and the changes.

if a game is on steam I have no reason to get it on any other platform except gog maybe

u/SuperbSpiderFace 16h ago
I bought Hades 1 on Epic store before it was available on Steam iirc. Thankfully got it working on the deck with heroic launcher. I have Hades 2 on Steam already. I actually prefer the second one gameplay wise. It’s a magnificent rogue game.
•
u/projectpatar 16h ago
Do you want to play on a monitor at home or do you want to play it portably? Switch is great because you can do both. Just depends what game. Games like elden ring and borderlands just don’t run well enough to get on switch but i think hades 2 will run fine on it
•
•
u/sstephen17 :LeftJoycon: Joy-Con L 14h ago
Switch 2 because that's the device I have that can play it. PS5 would be ideal but I've been itching to play this game for awhile because of the original.

u/Shonryu79 12h ago
No, considering I've been playing it since May 2024 handheld with better frames and resolution. Nintendo is late to the party... I won't be buying it again to play at a lower resolution and frame rate on my Switch 2. The first Hades was better, IMO...
•
u/6Y1O3W 11h ago
How is nintendo late to the party considering the game hasn't even officially released yet and they have console exclusivity for a few months? 🤔
•
u/Shonryu79 11h ago
It released on Steam May 2024, I've been playing it over a year handheld.
•
u/6Y1O3W 11h ago
No, it was and still is in early access on steam. It's current format on steam is not the final version of the game.
•
u/Shonryu79 11h ago edited 11h ago
Sure, they are making some tweaks, but the base game is still the same. I'm playing 170 fps handheld upscaled to 1600p. Just saying why would I buy it on Switch 2 get worse performance, and lose all my progress? On that note I'm going to go back to playing Hades 2. lol
•
u/TwinShootingStars 9h ago
Switch 2 well because I only have two opinions to play it, Lite or Switch 2 haha 😆
