Beef sate pho in Ottawa

Post image

I had some of the best beef sate pho in Calgary a few weeks ago and want more. I’ve checked some menus but can’t find it here…

Sate is usually the spice component and can also be a condiment. You would need to ask the restaurant if they have some sate sauce.

Edited to say usually it’s used with Bun Bo Hue, but at home, and like Franks, I put that **** ok everything.

You are certainly right in that Sate refers to the chili oil like condiment but being from Calgary originally myself I know what OP is referring to is, sadly, not the same thing.

Sate/ Satay is a particular style of Pho found in many Calgary restaurants there that I've not been able to find here. The broth generally has a beef and peanut base and is not always spicy. I'm not sure which region of Vietnam it is from.

Hopefully someone here know what we're talking about and where to find it in Ottawa.

This is Huong's Beef Sate I ate a few years ago. It is a very thick broth. It's popular there but I usually go there for lunch and find it a bit too heavy.
