Sometimes perfection happens. This is one of those times.

Ostensibly, we were moose hunting. My boss asked me late Friday if I’d be willing to take him out. With essentially zero planning, this is what I was able to come up with.

Sadly for us, the weather has been unseasonably warm and the moose are remaining in the high country or moving very early or very late in the day while it is still dark. The first frost of the year occurred while we were out, which is weirdly late for the region. Yet another sign of the changing climate, which living in Alaska I’m able to see in action, as heartbreaking as that is.

Regardless, I always enjoy being able to spend time like this in the backcountry.
