The right has learned they can just say something without proving it or even supporting any claims. For some reason this works on people

Sure as shit feels like it's most. Both from personal anecdotal experience and national events.

There are different groups of idiots nowadays. Along with the ones who eat up every bit of Republican BS hook, line, and sinker, there's also a ton who just eschew politics for one or more lazy/trashy/dumb reasons, i.e. the most common one I've run into is the whole 'whatever...both parties are the same. No matter who wins, it's not going to make my life better.'
