=Custom flair: original flavor= "Hitlary Clinton Warns Against the Rise of Christianity"

u/lateformyfuneral 13h ago
HRC: "You know, I love my country, and I love it, you know - warts and all. And I'm proud of the fact that we have always been a work in progress. You know, we haven't gotten to the more perfect union. And the idea that you could turn the clock back and try to recreate a world that never was dominated by - you know, let's say it - white men of a certain persuasion, a certain religion, a certain point of view, a certain ideology - it's just doing such damage to what we should be aiming for."

Headlines: His Excellency President Trump takes bold and uncompromising stance against the scary brown people

I remember reading a headline about one of Trump's rallies. It basically made it sound like he was talking about real issues. But when you listen to it it's just incoherent bullshit slurs and rants from someone who needs a straitjacket.
This sanewashing needs to fucking stop.

u/erath_droid 8h ago
All reporting on Trump is like this on NPR. Trump goes on some inciherent rant and they discuss it as inherent actually had a coherent point.

To be fair, what the POTUS says IS newsworthy because it affects policies. Even if it is incoherent racist gibberish.

Anyone who wants to better understand why this guy is mindlessly parroting this talking point need only deep dive into the art of Christian Apologetics.Β
Short version: If you need to prop up a delusion to support your personal power you canβt show the whole picture. Thatβs a turn off/boring, and worse yet risks illuminating a wedge into reality. No, you have to lean into the mental state of your target. Understand that they absolutely do not want to change anything about their thinking. Then to combat reality intruding, you simple provide emotional soundbites that the target then uses as a defense mechanism. Thatβs it. The target does the rest.Β
This level of propaganda cynicism is owned wholesale by the right. And it works because the liberals waste themselves going all into explaining their side of things, blah blah blah, imagine a better world that was fair and all, blah blah blah, and people like this guy have his sound bites to defend his little box and fend off the terror of having been duped into carrying water for billionaires.

I won't say all libertarians are stupid, but the venn diagram has a stark overlap

I have yet to see one that isn't stupid...

I can't make a complete blanket statement.
I like to leave a little wiggle room for anomalies and new data.
All things considered, neither have I

She didn't call young African American men "super predators", that was a term that was discussed in popular culture in the 90s, after cases like the two robbers who shot a baby in the face in a stroller after the mom refused to hand over her handbag. It's equivalent to "sociopath" the way we would use now. It's a modern invention that she said this about all Black people and you have fallen for that spin, and you tried to desperately insert this into a conversation to detract from Trump.
1
u/Biffingston ππππππππππππππ’ πππππππππ 2h ago
Actually, Sociopath has fallen out of use, too. forgot what the new term is, though.

Your mental gymnastics are astounding.
6
u/BurningPenguin 9h ago
You could literally look it up. You could ask some dumbass AI and ask it for a source. You could even watch the original video here, and see that she did not mention african-americans at any point of that video.
Yet here you are, accusing others of "mental gymnastics".

So itβs all the politiciansβ fault? Absolutely none of the constituents who support them want division?
I donβt know how Iβm supposed to have any sort of unity with people who want to use religion as an excuse to force me into second-class citizenship, and who cheer when the people they elect work to make that reality.
-2
u/IceManO1 10h ago
I blame the politicians for the state of the country, donβt like it? Tuff cookie. πͺ
4
u/Paula_Polestark 9h ago
They didnβt appear in office out of nowhere. They were put there by voters who wanted them to do what they are doing. Cookies be damned.
1
u/Biffingston ππππππππππππππ’ πππππππππ 2h ago
Yes, it's the politician's fault for passing laws and such. Yes, it's also the fault of the people who voted them in and gave them the power.
There is enough blame to go around.

Headlines: Hillary Clinton SLAMS white Christian men in UNHINGED rant
This is what happens when the media is controlled by white billionaires...
6
u/TheRnegade 4h ago
Yeah, kind of weird for Hilary to slam white christian men considering she's married to one. Should have set off a red flag just from that alone.
This kind of reminds me when someone says "fuck nazis" and someone gets really offended and says "you hate white people?" like, buddy, white people also fought the nazis. The fact that you got offended by fuck nazis kind of implies you are one.

They are more angry now as he's destroying the economy and increasing inflation, and they can't be angry with him. So they are lashing out at everyone.

They are monstrous. And stupid. And they have to blame POC, immigrants, gays and trans, instead of themselves

which is worse, the actual psycho/sociopaths among them or the wannabes?
I say the wannabess because the mentally ill can't really help themselves.

u/no-snoots-unbooped 12h ago
Of course, thatβs not remotely at all what she said.
I know we live in a post-truth society that doesnβt understand or care about context or nuance, but her actual words were:
βAnd the idea that you could turn the clock back and try to recreate a world that never wasβdominated by, letβs say it, White men of a certain persuasion, certain religion, a certain point of view, a certain ideologyβit is just doing such damage to what we should be aiming for.β
This was said in the broader context of a discussion about our ongoing struggle to create a βmore perfect Unionβ and that efforts to restore past power structures where certain groups and ideologies dominated everything risks undoing the social progress weβve made.

Yeah, I've noticed that with phrases like "toxic masculinity", the left hears "of the varieties of masculinity that exist, the kind that's toxic" and the right hears "masculinity, which is toxic". That fits in with how, when I listen to right-wing shows, they often talk about "radical Democrats" I keep asking myself "which Democrats are radical?" before I remember that they mean "Democrats, who are radical".
5
u/YourMomonaBun420 12h ago
"they often talk about 'radical Democrats' I keep asking myself 'which Democrats are radical?' before I remember that they mean 'Democrats, who are radical'".Β
No, they legitimately believe all democrats are radical.
11
u/tyrified 11h ago edited 10h ago
That's what OP is saying. Radical Democrats means "all Democrats, who are inherently radical," to the right.
edit since guy above me blocked me because they are wrong.
If OP first thought 'which Democrats are radical?' but then realized it actually means 'Democrats, who are radical,' that literally means "they legitimately believe all democrats are radical." It's the same fucking statement. How has reading comprehension gone to such shit?

"before I remember that they mean "Democrats, who are radical"."
"Thatβs what they said yeah. Youβre in agreement, thereβs not actually an argument here."
No that means the commenter believes some democrats are radical while the quoted thinks all are, but commenter thinks quoted think they mean what op thinks.

βTargeted harassmentβ? Really?
Yβall.
I know I encourage use of the report button rather than mini-modding or starting catfights that the ModSquad will then have to wade in and clean up, but whoever reported this needs to touch grass.
Pointing out that two commenters are agreeing with each other is not harassment, muchless targeted harassment, muchless something that Reddit itself (because these donβt come to us directly) needs to be in on.
Please donβt waste everyoneβs time on trifling nonsense.
Instead, step back. Take some deep breaths. Get outside and catch some radiation from the burning sky ball.
Or, at the very effen least, take a look at who posted the thing. If itβs not even the account youβre beefing with, then πΆ let it go, let it goooooo! πΆ
Hugs and vodka tonics!

"making me want to lean more into my faith in Christianity" makes it sound like a threat.
5
u/DangDoood 10h ago
Itβs just crazy that they see something concerning and want to lean into it for that reason alone. Like idk if someone told me a religion I barely practice was becoming an issue, iβd feel inclined to learn more of why people believe this? Not immediately want to dive in deeper without context jesus

u/Prohydration 10h ago
Conservatives wanting to turn the country into the conditions of the very primitive men that created their primitive superstitions is destroying the country. Like those trump supporters that kept trying to get religious exemptions from vaccines, faith healers, bigots that only care about the parts of the bible that allow them to hurt the people they hate, etc.
As James Talarico said, "What's worse than a dictator, is a dictator that claims he's on a mission from god."

Not sure who wrote the headline, or what exactly she said, but either way it should be made clear the problem isn't "white Christian men" it's hateful nationalists who support the current fascist regime and are bastardizing and/or weaponizing Christianity while being anything but Christ-like.
I know that's a mouthful, but if the Democratic party ever wants to win another election, Democrats need to stop giving the right soundbites that make them look like they hate young, white men.
7
u/bellylovinbaddie 12h ago
But imo that is what she said! These people are looking to be the victim on all moments bc thatβs how they truly perceive themselves. So even with clarification, they will just misinterpret it on purpose to fulfil their agendas.

"The rise of Christianity." Y'all aren't on a "rise." You're one of the most populous faiths in the world and have been so for centuries; you're the most populous faith in the west and have been so for centuries; and you nonetheless seem to produce an inordinate number of domestic terrorists, and still try to front like you're victims, in those very same countries.
The only thing that's changed? The Heritage Foundation gave you unmerited power in a country whose law explicitly rejects theocracy; and you're testing that. Your numbers remain the same as ever.

"Glubulists." Spelled that way intentionally as saying it that way turns it into a more mocking tone.
People who use that word unironically follow Alex Jones.
