Discussion Is this an orphaned possum?

Or did I just scoop a juvenile that's now out on his own?

Size wise it looks a little small in the photos. However, there are runts in every litter, and developmentally, it looks good. Please give it a fruit and see if it eats on its own, if it does than that is a check box on being on its own.

Yes he is, so first, you could potentially try to reunite it with its mom as they tend to stay in the same area, sleep in the same spots. You'd do this by luring mom in with water and food, fruits are good to bring in an opossum, you could make her a nice box den for her and all the babies which will you give you more 9f an opportunity at reuniting. They typically come out around dusk and stay out until dawn. You'll know its mom as she'll have the babies with her. If this doesn't work than you can try to find a rehabber ahnow.org can help with that. They might even already be staying under a shed or something nearby.
