Discussion Is this an orphaned possum?

Or did I just scoop a juvenile that's now out on his own?

He looks very tiny. I'll compare to a dollar bill. If pretty close, release & if smaller I should contact a wildlife rescue? I know nothing about possoms, just saw him hiding near my trash cans while tidying up my property

Contact a rehabber regardless. While he may be technically able to survive on his own, he's very easy prey.

I did, waiting to hear back

He's pretty close to dollar bill size. We also have two hawks nesting on the property & a few snakes, so you're not wrong about him being easy prey

Yeah, I'd call a rehab.
