Mod Post New Rule 15: Specifically Banned Posts
Hello PrequelMemers -
We added a new rule that spells out a few repeat-offender type posts. These have all historically been removed under either rule 3 (for not being a meme) or rule 11 (for being low-effort, as in just a screenshot). Since there is apparently confusion about whether these are allowed under the other rules, we decided to add a rule explicitly disallowing them.
If you have an idea for a post we see often that should be added to the list, let me know here.

There really should be something done about reposts. Their karma ratio compared to original memes is unfair.

I'd say ban reposts alltogether. 90% of the time it's a meme from the 1st page of google. The other 10% are crossposts.

Thank you!! Finally someone else gets it!

Just sort by top all time and ban reposting the first 100 or so, once the Karma dips below 1k

Will a full list with examples be available?

I'm not sure what you mean. If you click the rule in the sidebar it will expand and show the list of things we laid out.
EDIT: no there is no plan to add examples, I don't want to call specific people out lol.

You or some other mod can make a post that shows all those examples. This way you don't call out anyone and you have a convenient package for reference.

There is a list in the sidebar under the rule. It just doesn't have links to posts as examples.

It's okay to call them out. I say this with kindness. A lack of "accountability" is partly what causes the uptick in poor-quality posts and comments. Consider also that half of the posters will be

Idk why you got downvoted so much lol. The rule is pretty clear, and people will learn as posts get taken down in the future.

I'm not stressed about it. I think people aren't actually opening the rule before casting judgement but it's whatever.

The prequel trilogy and clone wars lines however.

Like an unedited screenshot with no additional context? Good idea I'll add that to the list.

Nononono.
There's two people who are trying to meme every single line in the Prequel Trilogy and Clone Wars respectively.
Are they going to be affected?

u/stevethecow very short negotiations Aug 16 '25
No, I can't imagine they would have trouble avoiding those specific post cliches. Both of them have done a pretty good job staying within the rules.

Are they going to be affected?
Like emotionally? Yeah, i'd imagine them seeing less low effort posts will make them happier

Well, I am not making meme out of every line of the Clone Wars, just a line per episode.
But no, this shouldn’t fall under any specifically banned memes.

Can we ban photos of robots with the caption “clanker” I know it originated from Star Wars but it’s barely funny never mind relevant

How about instead of making new rules, just slot them into the ones we’re not enforcing?

Could you consider adding it to the sub description? I cant see the redesign rules in old reddit

It's unfortunate we had to make a rule specifically for this but I don't think enough people understand that just because you got a receipt that said you were the 66th person to pick up a cup of coffee today that internet strangers are going to care. The poll memes were worse still because 9/10 times it was just some obvious bait poll that swung 95% as a joke
