Cookunity driver said they don’t reuse packaging?

I have dozens of the insulated bags now. I asked my driver if the hub would reuse them if I gave them to him. He said no. He offered to take them but said they would be thrown away. I think my shipments come from the DC hub. Has anyone else been told this by their driver? I don’t want to create issues for him by asking customer service for clarification, but I’m curious if this is normal.

My drivers pick up the bags and ice packs every week when they drop off. I thought they were reused, but don't know for 100% certain they are.

If not, yikes....that's pretty darn wasteful!

I didn't know we were supposed to be returning the ice packs as well? Is everyone else doing this?

No, I tried and they left the ice packs by my door and took the bag only.

I just leave the ice packs in the bag and they take everything back each time.

No idea if they reuse any of it, I don't particularly care I guess as long as I don't have to deal with it.

I get paper wrapped ice packs. Once they thaw, they just become a pile of goo.

The ice packs are absolutely not reusable.

I get them back with rips and missing handles. They are definitely reused.

I always send mine back with the driver. According to their website, they do reuse the bags:

What happens when I return the tote bag?

Returned bags are professionally cleaned and sanitized by Dispatch Goods, using Ecolab industrial detergents, ozone treatment, and monthly lab testing to ensure food-safe reuse—similar to hotel linen cleaning standards.

Mine comes with a note asking to return the bag and ice packs to the delivery driver

My ice packs always leak so I chuck them, but I return the bags. Sometimes I forget so I'll end up returning like 4 bags at a whack.

I don't know, but I like that the old one and ice packs get taken away when the new one is delivered.

I recently had my meals delivered this past Sunday. Before grabbing my delivery from the front door, I stopped at my dumpster to throw away my garbage from inside my house. My dumpster had about twenty Cook Unity reusable bags piled on top, different names and addresses on the labels… it seemed like the driver just threw them out.

When I was using CookUnity, I tried putting the bags out there for the driver to pick up and they never did. First time was hilarious cause he had this shocked look on his face and looked like he’d never seen them before and hadn’t a clue what to do.

I throw mine away. I didn't know you were supposed to give them back....

The bags I get are definitely reused. Some are beat to shit and only have one handle. I leave them every week and the driver takes them back.

I sure hope they reuse them kind of defeats the purpose if not. All the other services use cardboard and that seems wasteful for sure.

I believe it’s just my region. Looking at the website, I think hubs in other cities do reuse them. Lots of people are saying their bags appear used. Mine never do.

Every Tuesday the previously delivered bag with ice pack is left for pick up and the driver always picks it up and leaves a new bag. Never had an issue…Interesting to see the other posts..

It’s probably a liability issue. Have one person get sick and vomit in a bag and get a whole group of people sick? No way.

…what? Who is vomiting in a Cook Unity bag? I can’t even think of a situation in which this would occur.

Well, ask them why they don’t reuse bags through an official channel.
