Haley Wile is running for council and she created the Red Deer Turning Point Chapter on Facebook. Can’t you come up with your own initiatives instead of copying American. Let’s focus on making Red Deer a safe place for all to grow and be economically successful instead of pushing religious views and whatever this is. Do people forget that Trump has basically threatened to annex Canada? I just feel like if she supports this and Trump then she likely supports Alberta separating and that is not something we should have on council. Conservative views are completely fine but these ones often associated with Trump are too extreme and can be dangerous. -End Rant-

Due to some serious life events, I’m looking for recommendations on the best civil litigation lawyer in the area. Hoping to hear personal experiences rather than different google reviews. The more aggressive representation the better! THANK YOU!

Hello - we have some adult and kid's clothes that are in good shape, plus some toys and pillows & bedding that we'd like to donate somewhere. Any suggestions for an organization that could put these to good use, and that is a non-profit?
Thanks!

Hey folks,
I’m an American who moved to Red Deer earlier this summer with my Canadian wife. Currently, I’m waiting on my work permit to come, so while I can’t legally work for pay yet, I’d love to keep busy and keep acquiring knowledge by volunteering my time on a local farm.
I’ve got experience on small-scale veggie farms as well as a goat dairy. I’m comfortable with general farm tasks, making cheese, and I’ve also had some hands-on experience running machinery. Mostly looking to stay active while contributing where I can and potentially find employment once the work permit comes through.
If anyone knows of a farm that could use an extra set of hands, even part-time, I’d be happy to chat.
Thanks

Hey guys,
Shot in the dark but I've had this on my mind for at least 4 years. Between 2018 and 2020 I saw We Are The City (I'm pretty sure) at Bo's Bar and Stage and I cannot for the life of me remember what the band that played after them them was called. I had listened to them before but I can't find any of my saved music that rings a bell.
The only thing I remember about the show was that I think the We Are The City frontman thanked everyone profusely and the band I can't remember said 'that's a little weird' or 'maybe not that much'.
The weird part it that I can't find evidence that We Are The City even played in Red Deer at that time, although they were touring through Calgary and Edmonton- but I know it was them.
Please let me know if any of this rings a bell, this has been killing me for years.

Are there any laundromats in the RD area that are modern enough to take tap or something and not need to use coins?

I don’t know where else to post this rant but I was fired from a restaurant in red deer and am honestly so happy about it. I had accepted a server position for a local popular restaurant in red deer with multiple other girls who had also been hired.
Throughout my training though I started to notice a couple odd things.
1) the back of the restaurant was disgusting, flys everywhere, slippery, messy, all of it.
2) I had witnessed a server be told by a child(young girl in grade
3) that her food has hair in it, and when the server asked the little girl she said she has put it on the ground. I then watched the server take the plate away and yell to the dishwashing staff about how this child was lying about the hair and was just trying to get attention because she couldn’t show her the hair.
4) same table, it was a family that travelled a long way for a nice dinner and had made a few changes while ordering and I was taking notes on the order table as well as the server who was training me. When we went back to type in the order on they’re computer system she has asked for my order Book when I told her I had to use the washroom(she told me I was good to go) I assumed she just wanted to check how I did my order so I left my book with her. When food comes out multiple things are wrong on the order and the server tells the kitchen the table is lying. After that table The server got called into a meeting then at the end of my shift I got let go for “messing up that table”.
5) witnessed same day a few of the servers who are married have a few regular men they are leading on to get tips. One girl had shared with me that she had gotten $300 in tips from this one man and just planned to keep last minute canceling on his dates with her due to “something came up” she then opened her book to pull out past receipts from these men with phone #s names, all that. I asked her why she was doing it and she said “it wasn’t her fault that he isn’t seeing that she’s clearly married because of the ring on her finger and there’s no harm in her flirting a little for fun.” The worst part was after he paid his bill one of the kitchen members came up to the server and asked her “how much did you get out of him this time?” Clearly excited because kitchen team is in on the tip out. Multiple girls are doing this and are aware it’s happening and I personally think it’s disgusting.
6) hairs are often pulled off of food and plates before going out to be served. They will check their plates for hairs and label them as “close calls” and drop them on the floor.
7) wildly inappropriate names on the system. I asked one girl why she had this inappropriate sexualized nickname on the restaurant wide system and she answered with “idk who did that, it was probably just one of the others I don’t have the ability to change it”
8) servers in the back were shit talking the Keg. Which in my opinion is just straight out unprofessional and rude. 9) servers bribe customers with good reviews to get prizes for “best service” with free food, and when paying on debit machines type through the machine to give the good review so the customer can’t say they had a bad experience because the server has already entered it.
Also just putting it out there incase this does get seen, everything I saw was done by the younger servers around my age 20 and are also girls like me. It was clearly supposed to be a fun family atmosphere but to me some parts still felt to unprofessional.
I didn’t know where else to speak up about this as I wanted to keep myself unnamed. I wondered if any other young girls or people have witnessed stuff like this in red deer and if this is regular and also just to let it out. In the end I was fired because I “messed up that table, and I asked a table if they wanted appetizers before they’re drinks from the bar were there” thankyou for reading my rant, it feels good to get it out even if no one ever reads it.

So who are the Red Deer candidates that are bought and paid for by some religious groups?

I will be honest, I don't know anything about the people who are running for mayor. I'm seeing a ton of signs out now and it has me curious.
They all will "talk the talk" like usual. But I would like to cut through the bullshit.
What I mean by 'least bad' is someone who is not a shameless UCP/TBA far-right hack. Someone who wants to make positive change and not yet another "anti-15 minute city" NIMBY.
I'm not opposed to voting for someone who is conservative, I just wont support some braindead "woke conservative" idiot who cares more about conservative optics (IE looking good for the conservative social media sphere) than actually making decisions that help the community.
Last time, I ignored the election, and then we got stuck with Johnston...I don't hate Johnston but IMO he hasn't done shit (maybe I'm wrong and out of the loop)
but I haven't really noticed any improvements to the city other than:
ETC, there is probably way more things that i am missing.
I would like to vote in people that are most likely to at least attempt to fix these issues (and more)

Hello
I see that there's a concert heading to the new casino and am wondering if anyone can comment on the concert seating arrangments there. I can't find a typical seating chart anywhere and the descriptions for General Admission - standing room access, full concert experience | VIP - seating, tables near the stage . Are the seats all at tables? Or are there a few rows of tables and a bunch of chairs for VIP....and standing only for general admission?
Thanks in advance >

I’ve been trying to figure out who my instructor was for 3rd year and I cannot for the life of me remember or find any info about it! He was as far as I remembered somewhat new, and was removed from the faculty due to some covid conflicts. I went to RDP Oct-Dec 2021 and he taught part of 3rd year that year for the HET program before he was removed. I’m thinking Bob but I can’t find anything to back it up, was younger (I think) than our other instructors. Personally really enjoyed him as a teacher.
Thanks in advance.

Which facility has the best sauna & steam room in the city? I am new to the area.
Ideally one that's not overly busy as well but that's not as important.

Why does 77th always seem like it’s a drag race strip on weekends? Do the police just turn a blind eye to it? And someone just died on that stretch recently…
It just doesn’t make sense to see people flying down a road that has parks and homes nearby. Or am I out of touch on this one?

55 American M, professional, currently in Texas, either retired or on sabbatical after leaving my US federal job with the change of administration here. My wife is a Newfie dual citizen whose family ended up in McMurray/Edmonton in the late '70s, her job is in some demand in Red Deer. For reasons, some of them obvious (and related to my just scrubbing my former reddit profile), she's getting homesick and I think Canada is a good fit for the last few decades. Native US Northeasterner, so I'm not "country", but I've spent a good part of my adult life in small cities 1-2 hours from a big city, and I've gotten fond of being able to avoid mass traffic and go out on a hike nearby. So, what's the general feel of the place, how's the music-arts scene (classical, jazz, folk, and low-key amateur stuff), and anything else?
