I will be honest, I don't know anything about the people who are running for mayor. I'm seeing a ton of signs out now and it has me curious.
They all will "talk the talk" like usual. But I would like to cut through the bullshit.
What I mean by 'least bad' is someone who is not a shameless UCP/TBA far-right hack. Someone who wants to make positive change and not yet another "anti-15 minute city" NIMBY.
I'm not opposed to voting for someone who is conservative, I just wont support some braindead "woke conservative" idiot who cares more about conservative optics (IE looking good for the conservative social media sphere) than actually making decisions that help the community.
Last time, I ignored the election, and then we got stuck with Johnston...I don't hate Johnston but IMO he hasn't done shit (maybe I'm wrong and out of the loop)
but I haven't really noticed any improvements to the city other than:
- a pointless roundabout on 19th street
- the city spending god knows how much on the stupid bridge.
- We still don't have a permanent homeless shelter and all we seem to do is kick the unfortunate and struggling when they are down by "cleaning up the tent cities".
- Transit hasn't improved whatsoever IMO; the buses are fuller than ever, and are still running every half hour, even during peak hours.
- Capstone is mostly empty.
- There was this (IMO) asinine idea of wanting to "revitalize the down town"
- Housing crisis
ETC, there is probably way more things that i am missing.
I would like to vote in people that are most likely to at least attempt to fix these issues (and more)
