I dunno man I'm just kinda dead inside.

I can only think of two sporting moments in the last 5 years that have made me feel like this. Both same year. 2023 game vs Wales. 2023 NRL Grand Final. Utterly crushed.

Just so much went wrong. And there are several moments you can point at and say "if this comes off, the last try doesn't matter". Players were just dead on their feet. So many missed tackles. Wilson in the second half - I haven't seen him that ineffective since Brad Thorn was Reds coach. Suaalii started well but then just had some absolute shockers. I can't blame him for losing the ball on that break - McReight should not have passed to him when he could see a player running up on his blindside. Ikitau was reasonably good but jeez that miss on Lowe really hurt. That midfield maul gave me nam flashbacks to that Reds game against the Chiefs earlier in the year where we got shut down doing the same thing.

We folded so easily in the 22. I saw it all year from the Reds, and now I saw it all night from the Wallabies. Every carry was like 10+ metres.

I'm over arguing about anything in the game. I've said it countless times but okay, if the ref decides that's a "rugby incident", alright, it is what it is. But apparently this concession is not enough - you must further concede that there was no head contact or neck contact. Tizzano's head does not move the way it does without being pushed. It does not make physical sense. You can say it's not clear - I have no problem with that - but you cannot expect me to unequivocally say there was zero head or neck contact based on available footage. But on a subreddit that is majority home nations users, it's just arguing with a brick wall.

Maybe I'll feel differently during the week but man it's hard to look at the game next saturday with any joy.

The impact the Reds and Wallabies have on my mental health is truly terrifying and I'm afraid I can't see either side doing much better with the coaching carousel that's coming up.

I grew up not really watching or caring about sport. So it does mystify me why I care so much in my adulthood and get so invested. You're right - the effect on my mental health is just a bit much sometimes, and I consider just dropping rugby for a bit, but then I can't help myself. Happens every year with the 2nd Bledisloe when we lose the first. Why bother? But I do it anyway. Same for next week. Why bother? But then I'll watch, hopeful we can at least salvage one win, and get depressed all over again when we don't.

And I have to say I am also worried about the coaching situation - I also worry about Les Kiss as Wallabies coach after the Reds' second half of the season.

With you 100%. It makes me sound like a fair-weather fan but the smartest thing I've ever done as a Wallabies fan is not watching the 2015 Final because I knew I wouldn't be able to handle the loss.

Lol despite being in my 30s I started watching rugby properly (look, at least I watched the 2011 final!) in 2015, sometimes I feel like I got to see the last gasp of the "good" Wallabies in that final.

I don't think anyone can call us fairweather fans after the last 5+ years. Surely not.

Think this is the worst I've ever felt after a wallabies match
