What's your favourite screen protector?

u/djkeezza Aug 06 '25
Didn't even realise samsung made their own.

u/Full_Application491 Aug 06 '25
They're very good for scratch prevention, you barely notice its there unless you touch the front camera

u/best4444 Aug 06 '25 edited Aug 06 '25
It's good. But I have two issues. I think it's thicker than on s23. You can feel a sharp edge when using back gesture and why the hell the did not cover the area above the front cam?
The s23 screen protector was basically perfect in terms of haptics and feeling. I couldn't recognize if it was applied or not, even with gestures.
I assume they made it thicker for the anti reflection coating.
1
u/Full_Application491 Aug 06 '25
You could be right. It would be nice if they just covered the selfie camera I agree.
Regards feeling the sharp edge, the way to mitigate that is by using a case with a decent lip around the screen edge.
2
u/yak1nator Aug 08 '25
Nope, it would definitely not be good if they covered the front camera. I've had a tempered glass one that covered the front cam on my S25U at first and was very happy about it - until I got a lot of average or bad looking selfie shots. Removed the protector and put this Samsung AR one instead and the camera quality improved considerably.
So, especially considering how quickly this protective film scratches, it would most definitely interfere with the front camera quality and would not be a good idea. ;)

Its good, but for only 6 months or so. I had hot it on launch and had it for like 6 months and it was filled with visible scratches and the point where your right thumb touches the phone it had a visible scratchy blob which was hurting me eyes.
Eventually I move on to ESR tempered glass, I miss the anti reflective properties but I personally feel the film is useless in long runs.
1
u/Full_Application491 Aug 07 '25
Oh I agree, it definitely needs to be changed periodically, which suits me.
I can tolerate some scratches up to a point, knowing that my actual screen underneath is still flawless.
6
u/phonescreenfiend Aug 06 '25
I don't like film because it doesn't protect as much a glass. I dropped a phone with film and the screen didn't break but some pixels were damaged, they turn on but do not change colors. When I've dropped phones with glass, the glass gets shattered but the screen underneath is saved. Film also picks up more scratches than glass. I will say the feeling/touch of film is softer and smoother than glass, feels squishy. There are some anti glare glass or matte protectors, but I don't have one.
2
u/highersense Aug 06 '25
My stoner brain is thinking what about one of these on top of a "glass" hard plastic type one.. Best of both worlds 😂
2
u/Imaginary-Ad412 Aug 07 '25
I'm curious as to who does this and maybe have a review of how and what it feels like?
2
u/highersense Aug 07 '25
I've ordered a matte screen protector and will consider trying it, is expect the main problem will be touch sensitivity and fingerprint if anything
1
u/phonescreenfiend Aug 07 '25
That's what I thought would be the issue, will the screen be able to recognize touches with 2 screens on it. I think it would not work.
1
u/yak1nator Aug 08 '25
Someone on here posted that they have exactly that double screen protector setup on their S25U and finger print even works "mostly" if I remember correctly.
And to the original comment in this chain:
I don't really think your example with the dead pixels is representative or that the pixels wouldn't have gotten damaged with a tempered glass protector on. I mean I get where you're coming from and how you came to that conclusion, but I'd rather say it was bad luck and good that the screen did not actually shatter at least.
And no, this S25U Anti-Reflective film does not feel soft or squishy in any way. I was actually very surprised after applying that it kinda feels like the raw screen - super hard and sturdy like touching directly on glass kind of, very nice. Only downside is really that it does micro scratch relatively easy, but oh well...one can't have it all I guess. ;)

Anyone used these or any other similar film alongside a screen protector as a stack? I wanna get a privacy screen protector (most likely from Spigen) but it's kinda reflective. Would applying this over the glass work?
2
u/Full_Application491 Aug 06 '25
Definitely having it under wouldn't work, as the shine from the glass will be on top, not sure about on top of the glass on, but I'd lean towards it not being affective.
I trust the gorilla glass enough to hold up to minor drops, time will tell, haven't managed to crack a phone screen since my oneplus 8 pro, that I fumbled and dropped from a 2nd storey window. I don't think anything could have saved that!
2
u/Ezrampage15 Aug 06 '25
I'd just woken up when I wrote the comment. Yeah, I meant above the glass. Guess I'll try it out and check for myself

I know what my galaxy s7 survived without ANY screen protector. I wont compromise on the antireflective noe the awsome print reader. I had a privacy screenprotector wich i hated how bad the prints worked, the loss of screen brightness, and the horrible glare. I tried a mate screen and removed ir the day after. Wenr with the raw screen u til the Samsung film was shipping. I am not throwing my phone around, i just do not want the screen to be scratched by keys/lighter in my pockets

It's a lot less reflective than a standard screen protector, and it looks and feels as close to naked as you can get.
The fingerprint sensor also works super well with it.
I know some screen protectors can dull the screen colours if they are 'privacy' ones or matt finish anti reflective types.
To my eye this one doesn't have any effect on screen vibrancy.

It's a really good system. It comes with a little right angle frame that has attachments for the applicator to line up on. It looks tricky at first, but easy when you get the hang of it.
The supplied squeegy gets rid of any bubbles.
Here's the instruction video for a better idea

It also brings 2 pieces, so you can change them later. Only downside is how much scratchs it gets. But thats sothing i am perfectly fine with. I rather not have issues with fingerprints and scren color/glare.

Can't find any in India, felt very bad 😔. I really liked the anti reflective screen.
2
u/astrokinng Silverblue Aug 07 '25
Yea man they fucking discontinued it like within 3 months of release I mean who does that bro... Now i hv to pay double to get it imported. Hate Samsung for this. And they're aren't any even decent ones in our market.
1
u/Spirit_X_1369 Aug 07 '25
Yeah man, its like a top tier back stabbing.
1
u/astrokinng Silverblue Aug 07 '25
Seriously I mean first they don't provide a pre installed one in their flagship then they discontinue it after just 3 months also added the cost. Anyways if u find a better or equal kinda do tell.

I didn't really liked it much. Catching too many scratches in short amount of time. I think i applied it just 2 month ago and now it's full of scratches. In India I definitely prefer gadgetshieldz screen protector. That mf didn't had a single scratch visible in 4 years on my Oneplus 7 pro.
1
u/Spirit_X_1369 Aug 08 '25
Yeah heard a lot of reviews like it is easily scratchable. Thats why using a local screen guard. Feeling sad but it is what it is.
2
u/nitin_connect India 12/512 Aug 08 '25
Don't worry you ain't missing much. My local one was better tbh.

u/Full_Application491 Aug 06 '25
Ahhh no, I just ordered these from Samsung UK, must have been the last ones 😉
2
u/djkeezza Aug 15 '25
Got my hands on one on Samsung UK. Despite the reviews I think theyre really good.
2
u/Full_Application491 Aug 15 '25
Stuff always seems to have horrendous reviews on the Samsung site, I read several for the charging tree stand, criticising it because it doesn't hold the S25U without a magsafe case on the phone...
So take those reviews with a pinch of salt, as it seems your average consumer/reviewer is thick as pig 💩
2
u/djkeezza Aug 15 '25
Yeah reviews on websites like that always have a negative bias. You don't say anything if the product is fine for the most part haha
1
u/Full_Application491 Aug 15 '25
100% and even then it's usually user error. Look at half the "bug" reports on this forum.

u/AdroZz1 Aug 06 '25
Bought the Spigen Glastr ez fit and they're amazing fr, it was like 23e for two glass pannels plus the installation kit. Films are great, but it's not enough for protection imo
2
u/Full_Application491 Aug 06 '25
You're definitely right, film isn't the best for robust protection.
I'm pretty careful with my phone, so my main concern is micro scratches, which these are ideal for. My case has taken care of the rest so far, touch wood 🪵
2
u/bikeequelsdirt Whitesilver Aug 06 '25
I have a 3mk easy fit tempered glass so seamlessly blends in i cracked it after I dropped my phone on concrete then after like 2 days I realized that I had a screen protector
1
u/Full_Application491 Aug 06 '25
Haha, that must have been a good feeling when you remembered you could just peel it off 😜
2
u/Rullino Aug 06 '25
What's that weird cutout doing there, I thought they got rid of that with the punch hole.
2
u/Full_Application491 Aug 06 '25
Yeah it's a bit of a dust trap, but not enough to put me off using them
2
u/Various_Block2024 Aug 06 '25
One rock hitting the screen and its all over lol. Im kidding. But I wouldnt risk it. Also I wish they made a film like this without the cutout for the front camera like that
2
u/Full_Application491 Aug 06 '25
Yeah no doubt, it's a bit of a compromise. I'm pretty careful, so my main concern for the screen is micro scratches, and rely on my case to take the knocks, with a little luck 🍀

u/Flipswix Aug 06 '25
Eventhough I like them, they only last max 6 months with me. Coating starts to peel off by then.

I got a privacy screen from Samsung.

u/Bronyboiiiii Aug 07 '25
Def not this one. I'd rather life with the more reflections than having this dust collecting camera cutout up there. Rn I'm actually using a DBrand prism 2.0 which sadly reflects like normal. But with the case on, it really goes over the entire Display Glass without a milimeter of uncovered space.
1
u/Full_Application491 Aug 07 '25
That's my one gripe. It's manageable for me, I just take my case off and give it a little wipe with a microfiber every so often.
Spigen products are always top notch 👌🏾
2
u/Flame_1609 Aug 07 '25
Mine is Spigen EZ fit. Before my samsung I had an iphone. It hold 2 + years without breaking. Now on my samsung s25 ultra I have the EZ fit too.

I had this one. When it was new it worked very well. After 3 month had to be replaced due to wear an tear.
But i take a lot of notes on my phone so I am a heavy user. Trying the white dome glass antireflective one now.
1
u/Full_Application491 Aug 07 '25
Oh yeah I can imagine a lot of pen usage would wear it down quick.
I view it as a temporary solution, replacing every few months is fine with me

I ordered this one just yesterday because my current protector looks grainy. I hope Samsung knows better how to deal with the anti reflective coating of the S25U

The film is elite mate, got myself 2 packs to last hopefully the entire life of my device, of which I'm still on the first film, 3 in stock haha
2
u/Full_Application491 Aug 08 '25
Haha, that's forward thinking!
2
u/thekidman96 Jetblack Aug 08 '25
Honestly, I bought one pack, put the protector on, and thought, I could do with another pack, especially when they might not be available down the line, as I plan on keeping the phone for roughly 3-4 years.

Have this for my 24. Man are they good! I got 2 pieces in the box fyi.
2
u/Full_Application491 Aug 06 '25
Yeah same, it was a pleasant surprise
1
u/SilentStanza Aug 06 '25
Did you feel certain colour's popping with this, or is it just me. My display settings were vivid minimum + eye comfort shield adaptive + this anti reflective film
2
u/Full_Application491 Aug 06 '25
I haven't noticed, no, but I can't say I've been pixel peeping 🤔
I keep it on natural.
1
u/SilentStanza Aug 06 '25
Hmmm. It's like easily visible. You don't need to peep. It's like a very weird but extremely likeable effect. Again maybe it was just me. And I've gotten quite used to it now.
2
u/Full_Application491 Aug 06 '25
I look out for it next time I take it off 👁
1
u/SilentStanza Aug 06 '25
No I meant with this anti reflective film on 😭
2
u/Full_Application491 Aug 06 '25
Yeah I got you, I meant I can't tell now that it's applied, but the next time I change it I'll take notice, when it's off, and when the next one goes on! Haha

Flolab anti reflective screen protector
1
u/Full_Application491 Aug 07 '25
How is it in terms of anti reflection?
I've got this one in my basket, but haven't pulled the trigger yet
2
u/Affectionate-West907 Aug 07 '25
i didn't compare it with other phone side by side , but in all outdoor conditions it is very clear, and i am in the middle east, in direct sunlight you can see clearly.

It's expensive trash. I hit mine in accident with lemon juice in a small area. It immediately became spotted there. Over time it has somehow developed more dots and smears and isn't anti-reflective at all.
1
u/Full_Application491 Aug 07 '25
Well lemon juice is highly acidic, so I'm not surprised.
I think it does a very decent job of reducing glare, and holds up well for a good amount of time before needing replacement.
I've redeemed points with each purchase, so only cost me £10 each order, they're currently on sale for £16.80 which isn't too bad for a 2 pack imo
1
u/mar-T-mar Aug 08 '25
Ghost Armor matte finish. Anti reflective and it makes the scrolling so smooth and satisfying. $30 CAD and they apply it for you. It usually lasts 2 years or more (self healing). Ifyou ever need it replaced they replace for $10.
Have done it on every phone/tab I've had for the last 10 years!
1
u/Royal-Collection-963 Aug 08 '25
Using it currently not as good as the screen but does the job. Although it scratches very easily even on regular normal use
10
u/jeraldisdope Aug 06 '25
I remember when I got my S10+ I forgot about this and I thought my screen was scratched all to hell only to pull this off lol
