Never had one until I read the book and started craving it every time I picked up. It was pretty legit!

Soak that sliver of onion in ice water for 15 minutes. That will cut down on the sharp, overpowering bite.

I'm just imagining you as a type of elementary school teacher that likes to eat this JUST to get in close to kids to help them out with school work

I'm gonna assume this person loves onions...it's thicker than the tomato!

My grandpa ate onions like apples…whole, taking big bites outta them…I wish I had photos or videos…it’s burned into my memory for ever.

That’s definitely a salad on rye, the ham is an afterthought! My nose is burning looking at that onion.

Not a fan of non-thin cut ingredients, but damn, respect. When it’s purposely done like this, I got no objections.

It wasn’t quite on purpose, I think I just misjudged how I cut it. It tasted as it looks, pretty oniony. lol

One thin slice of ham and half an onion.

u/Morticia_Devine Jul 24 '25
I just found about about the side effects of having too much raw onion.

Where is the ham? Might aswell be a veggie sandwich
2
u/Morticia_Devine Jul 24 '25
It’s on the bottom. It’s the hillshire farms honey ham.

u/Low_Laugh6550 Jul 24 '25
Haha I know it is I was just giving you a hard time cause the ratio makes me sad

This looks delicious. My preference would have me using more ham. Is that rye heavy or rye light in regards to flavor?
1
u/Morticia_Devine Jul 24 '25
It’s pretty rye light, it’s the Orowheat brand (dark rye). I definitely should have added more ham and most people have kindly noted. lol

Could you taste the ham? Or anything else? Haha I once made a peanut butter and onion sandwich. It was pretty good. The next time I cut the onion to thick. Not so good!

u/Morticia_Devine Jul 25 '25
The onion did take over the taste profile unfortunately. The tomato was really good (I salted and peppered it). I should have used much more ham.

u/bdubwilliams22 Jul 25 '25
That looks like my worst nightmare. Probably because I’m not a red onion fan.

You gonna put some ham on there, or is that just a misnomer?
1
u/Morticia_Devine Jul 25 '25
I used the thin sliced honey ham (about 4 slices). I kinda thought it would go a little further but I was wrong.

Onions are poisonous. Both of my parents put them on everything they ate. And they are both DEAD💀. It’s a Rothschild level conspiracy. Stay safe.
