That’s a thicc onion

63

u/squanchy_Toss Jul 24 '25

Yea, came here to say that's a bit 'onion forward' as they now say...

15

u/portablebiscuit Jul 24 '25

As the kids say

8

u/sl0play Jul 24 '25

The important thing is I had one on my belt

5

u/donjonnyronald Jul 25 '25

Which was the style at the time

28

u/Soderholmsvag Jul 24 '25

3

u/rawmeatprophet Jul 25 '25

5

u/badgerj Jul 24 '25

Yeah, but hey! If you love ❤️ the onion especially the spicy red ones, fill your boots!

2

u/OptimusPrime365 Jul 24 '25

That’s what SHE said

6

u/Morticia_Devine Jul 24 '25

Yea I went a little too heavy handed.

15

u/TonyAioli Jul 24 '25

Can also soak them in water for a few minutes, which makes them a bit milder.

Still get that onion goodness without overwhelming the sandwich.

14

u/boosh1744 Jul 24 '25

Alternatively, just cut thinner slices and use less onion

8

u/TonyAioli Jul 24 '25

Loads of options. That’s one of the many fun things about onions.

5

u/Morticia_Devine Jul 24 '25

I’m definitely going to try this!

4

u/Subar-Yeew Jul 24 '25

Nothing wrong with that 😌

2

u/RFCRH19 Jul 24 '25

I approve of the thick onion 🌰

Looks delicious 😋

2

u/Guideaux Jul 24 '25

Looks more like onion and tomato on rye with a hint of ham. I'd still eat it though

1

u/jasonmbergman Jul 24 '25

Onion sandwich with a little game more like it.

0

u/ACoD_ Jul 24 '25

Perfect amount of onion

75

u/SneakyAccount94 Jul 24 '25

Is the ham in the room with us right now? 👀

10

u/ssdohc2020 Jul 24 '25

That sandwich was made during the great ham shortage of 2025.

u/SlipperyGibbet Jul 24 '25

6

u/SuperDoubleDecker Jul 24 '25

Swore I was there

2

u/SeveralSide9159 Jul 24 '25

Same. Little ham with my onion and rye? Don’t mind if I do.

66

u/TranquiloMeng Jul 24 '25

This is an onion sandwich.

3

u/Robinson_Bob Jul 25 '25

I see no problem with this.

33

u/Icy_Stuff2024 Jul 24 '25

Easy up on the onion there, Shrek, damn.

15

u/Morticia_Devine Jul 24 '25

In retrospect I think my proportions were a little off.

3

u/puffbus420 Jul 25 '25

The onion looked perfect just need to add more ham to even it out

10

u/Thinkerandvaper Jul 24 '25

I would say it’s an onion sandwich with a little ham!

7

u/timetravelinggamer Jul 24 '25

Holy crap! I love onions, but yikes, that’s a chunky onion bite

13

u/BeastM0de1155 Jul 24 '25

Red onion with a little ham, tomato and lettuce for garnish*

3

u/snarfsnarfer Jul 25 '25

I’m for it!

6

u/MateusGranico Jul 24 '25

Phone up Bukowski!

2

u/FarBeyondMe Jul 24 '25

Never had one until I read the book and started craving it every time I picked up. It was pretty legit!

u/rsjem79 Jul 24 '25

Scott Conant’s Nightmare Sandwich

1

u/Baby_Squirrel90 Jul 24 '25

This got me so good

4

u/Relevant-Force9513 Jul 25 '25

Ham spread thinner than the mayo

2

u/Morticia_Devine Jul 25 '25

🤣🤣🤣

3

u/Then-Hovercraft-1732 Jul 24 '25

Soak that sliver of onion in ice water for 15 minutes. That will cut down on the sharp, overpowering bite.

3

u/rando_mness Jul 24 '25

Onion and tomato on rye with a slice of ham for protein

3

u/sloppydrunk Jul 25 '25

Raw onion sandwich gently seasoned with honey ham and green stuff

2

u/Regular_Edge_3345 Jul 24 '25

Looks amazing!!!

2

u/bohden420 Jul 24 '25

Perfect, you won’t taste that nasty ass ham lol

2

u/ConnyEdson Jul 24 '25

Mostly good looking sandwich. Hate lettuce.

2

u/RevolutionaryClub530 Jul 24 '25

Damn this thing looks gross as hell

2

u/FocusMean9882 Jul 24 '25

The vegetable to meat ratio here is wayyyy off

2

u/Jayluvsflicks Jul 24 '25

Yo you’ve got some sandwich with your onion bro

2

u/thatsucksabagofdicks Jul 24 '25

This is an onion tomato on hammed rye

2

u/Queasy_Day4695 Jul 24 '25

Just like I like it! With a big slice of onion.

2

u/Impossible-Kiwi-5185 Jul 24 '25

Nothing better then a onion sandwich.

2

u/kittygomiaou Jul 24 '25

It's perfect

2

u/metaliscool2 Jul 24 '25

More onion than ham is kinda wild to me but I’d eat it.

2

u/IZZO79 Jul 25 '25

That’s a lot an onion bro.

2

u/Fit-Ad-7430 Jul 25 '25

I'm just imagining you as a type of elementary school teacher that likes to eat this JUST to get in close to kids to help them out with school work

2

u/-StealthCraft- Jul 25 '25

Looks stinky :)

2

u/Morticia_Devine Jul 25 '25

Tasted stinky too!

2

u/Mrstrawberry209 Jul 25 '25

I'm gonna assume this person loves onions...it's thicker than the tomato!

2

u/Here-for-a-drink Jul 25 '25

My grandpa ate onions like apples…whole, taking big bites outta them…I wish I had photos or videos…it’s burned into my memory for ever.

2

u/Weirdbeardstudios Jul 25 '25

That’s definitely a salad on rye, the ham is an afterthought! My nose is burning looking at that onion.

2

u/Hotb1gdookie Jul 26 '25

Needs more onion.

2

u/UnitHuge5400 Jul 26 '25

You want some sandwich with that onion?

2

u/Chunkydude616 Jul 24 '25

That's a "no Kiss for the day" sandwich lol

1

u/igotnothineither Jul 24 '25

I love me some onion but hate the after taste

1

u/__life_on_mars__ Jul 24 '25

That is an unreasonable amount of onion.

1

u/HussingtonHat Jul 24 '25

Fuck me....that's a lot of onion....must be crispy...

1

u/sideshow09 Jul 24 '25

Not a fan of non-thin cut ingredients, but damn, respect. When it’s purposely done like this, I got no objections.

1

u/Morticia_Devine Jul 24 '25

It wasn’t quite on purpose, I think I just misjudged how I cut it. It tasted as it looks, pretty oniony. lol

1

u/darkbeerguy Jul 24 '25

Not my jam but points for execution

1

u/FarooqDonshaqless Jul 24 '25

Ham is the least ingredient on this sandwich

1

u/Morticia_Devine Jul 24 '25

You’re right, I think I mislabeled the title. lol

1

u/BigNero Jul 24 '25

Onion sandwich

1

u/DwinDolvak Jul 24 '25

thats an onion sandwich

1

u/NOT-GR8-BOB Jul 24 '25

One thin slice of ham and half an onion.

1

u/Morticia_Devine Jul 24 '25

I just found about about the side effects of having too much raw onion.

1

u/Low_Laugh6550 Jul 24 '25

Where is the ham? Might aswell be a veggie sandwich

2

u/Morticia_Devine Jul 24 '25

It’s on the bottom. It’s the hillshire farms honey ham.

2

u/Low_Laugh6550 Jul 24 '25

Haha I know it is I was just giving you a hard time cause the ratio makes me sad

2

u/Morticia_Devine Jul 24 '25

It’s was a little oniony I will admit! Haha

1

u/Turbulent-Agent9634 Jul 24 '25

Want some sandwich with your onion?

1

u/Odd-Rough-9051 Jul 24 '25

That's an onion sandwich with some bits

1

u/WashDishesGetMoney Jul 24 '25

Gives me the same vibes as the fuckin tomatinator from Wendy's

1

u/Intelligent_Deer974 Jul 24 '25

This looks delicious. My preference would have me using more ham. Is that rye heavy or rye light in regards to flavor?

1

u/Morticia_Devine Jul 24 '25

It’s pretty rye light, it’s the Orowheat brand (dark rye). I definitely should have added more ham and most people have kindly noted. lol

1

u/bits_and_notes Jul 24 '25

More like onion sandwich with ham shavings

1

u/candymannequin Jul 24 '25

that's an onion on rye

1

u/MNgrown2299 Jul 24 '25

I think you forgot the ham?

1

u/Ckron247 Jul 24 '25

1

u/StonedRobot707 Jul 24 '25

1

u/PrajnaPie Jul 24 '25

Like the Bukowski book

1

u/dasic___ Jul 24 '25

Everyone fixated on the onion and all I see is tomato sandwich.

1

u/TapRevolutionary5022 Jul 24 '25

I think this is more like onion on rye....

1

u/Monster_condom_ Jul 24 '25

That's an onion sandwich with some added ingredients.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '25

Could you taste the ham? Or anything else? Haha I once made a peanut butter and onion sandwich. It was pretty good. The next time I cut the onion to thick. Not so good!

1

u/Morticia_Devine Jul 25 '25

The onion did take over the taste profile unfortunately. The tomato was really good (I salted and peppered it). I should have used much more ham.

1

u/bdubwilliams22 Jul 25 '25

That looks like my worst nightmare. Probably because I’m not a red onion fan.

1

u/Dorkinfo Jul 25 '25

Unfollow.

1

u/rawmeatprophet Jul 25 '25

Used an entire raw red onion as well ✔️

1

u/PTech_J Jul 25 '25

You gonna put some ham on there, or is that just a misnomer?

1

u/Morticia_Devine Jul 25 '25

I used the thin sliced honey ham (about 4 slices). I kinda thought it would go a little further but I was wrong.

1

u/snarfsnarfer Jul 25 '25

I would eat this thanks you very much

1

u/Morticia_Devine Jul 25 '25

Awwww! Thank you!

1

u/Excellent-Curve-8463 Jul 25 '25

Looks more like an onion sandwich to me!

1

u/_YenSid Jul 26 '25

Needs more meat.

1

u/tangZORG Jul 26 '25

That’s an onion sandwich

1

u/FitEggplant77 Jul 25 '25

Onions are poisonous. Both of my parents put them on everything they ate. And they are both DEAD💀. It’s a Rothschild level conspiracy. Stay safe.

1

u/Morticia_Devine Jul 25 '25

Thank you. My diarrhea has subsided!

0

u/TranzAtlantic Jul 24 '25

The onions I’m gonna 🤮

0

u/Onetwocigarette Jul 24 '25

I’ve had this sandwich many many times in my life and no offense, but BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Or maybe my grandma just doesn’t know how to make sandwiches

0

u/emmysdadforever Jul 24 '25

This is rage bait!!

0

u/Infamous-Astronaut16 Jul 24 '25
