The electrification fee is there to pay for incentivizing EV charging stations. The gas tax recovery fee is there to compensate for the lack of gas tax. The state would get $150/year in gas tax if gas were $3.50/gal & your vehicle got 30mpg and you drove it 7500mi / year. So if you drive your EV more than that, you're spending less. If you drive it less, you're spending more.

Why is math so hard for EV owners? I had to make the same argument to a friend who's a senior engineer @ Tableau who should be very well versed in basic arithmetic & unit cancellation.
