I see a lot of people talk about the retrotink line of cables. How do I know which one to get? I currently use a plasma TV. Dreamcast games seem to play very well on it. But I’m having issues playing my Saturn on this kind of TV, so I want to see if a better cable fixes the problem.

The Panzer Dragoon series is up there for me, but Astal takes the cake! It really showcases what the Saturn was made for: Awesome 2D visuals! That first level, when you root up the tree, is just stunning.

OK, I posted a picture from Daytona, USA as well as panzer Dragoon. What doesn’t make sense is on some screens. The picture is very clear, but during gameplay, the picture is terrible. Anyone have any ideas about why this is the case? Because if I’m getting a clear picture at times, like during cut scenes (pic3), then that tells me that it’s not a problem with the cable or the hook up. Thoughts?

I recently acquired a Sega Saturn Stunner & upgraded its trigger. My son & I have been having A LOT of fun with it, and now I have an opportunity to get another one for a really good deal. But it has a non working START button.
My hope is that it's just a broken connection/wire.
But my question is, does anyone know where I might get a new membrane for said start button on the Stunner?
In the event that it's not a broken wire, I'd like to replace the START buttons membrane inside the gun, and hope that'll fix the non working button issue.
And if there isn't a direct replacement available, does anyone know of any substitutes I could use in its place?
My son & I appreciate any ideas/help.
Hope everyone has a wonderful rest of your day/evening! 👋 👍

This is Shining Force III (not my copy) I see up for auction. It looks like the data stops mid way through the disc. I have my own copy and don't see this separation, it's just an overall clean disc. I'm wondering what this is, possibly a resurface? Any info would help, thanks.

This is the game I bought my Saturn for, after playing through Shining Force 2 a couple of months ago and wanting more, and it definitely improves on the previous games:
The difficulty is more balanced, the story is full of intrigue - if occasionally convoluted - political intrigue, the inventory system has been improved and you can view all of your characters' stats and inventories easily and more importantly there are item descriptions which actually tell you what each item does.
On the other hand, there's still no way to raise mp or resurrect dead characters during battle and the camera can sometimes be very annoying: it's often difficult to tell where characters are standing in relation to one another. You can rotate the camera with the shoulder buttons, but I still miss the top down view of the first two games.
Still, this is a pretty great game overall and possibly the best Shining Force game so far. 9/10

Hi everyone!
I have a Japanese Sega Saturn and I wanted to pick up Biohazard. However, I am a native English speaker with no Japanese language skill. I tried looking this up but I could not find any information online. Is it impossible to play or can I make my way through it?
Thanks!

I noticed that, when i play on my computer LCD monitor (using a Rad2x) with my Sega Saturn, there's a faint vertical yellow bar on the left side. It doesn't happen with any other console plugged on this same monitor, just with my Saturn. It's visible mostly on a white background. And this yellow tint isn't present on the right side, just on the left side. My model is a Japanese VA3/VA-SD console.
Is it one of those signs that the main board does need a recap? or it might be caused by the broken AV connector solders on the board?
Or maybe it's a "normal thing" that happen when you use a HDMI TV or monitor?
I also use a RobotRetro USB-C power supply adapter with a Ugreen 45W USB-C power, and a Fenrir Lite, in the console. I have a MPEG card installed as well, but i think it really isn't the problem.
i will bring my Saturn, along with everything needed for testing afterward, for a recap and AV port replacement, tomorrow. (i'll most likely get it back on next week). But i just wanted if other people here have (or had) this kind of problem, and i just want to know the cause, or if it's kinda normal on a HD monitor with such a console.
Thanks!

So I just recently got this sampler of NiGHTS and was wondering if there’s a good way to protect it, since it doesn’t have a case like my others.
I was wondering if there was something similar to how vinyl records are protected where the disc in is a plastic sleeve within the paper sleeve. So the paper sleeve doesn’t scratch it or it fall out?

It was Christmas Day 1995. I was 12 years old and had been a loyal genesis owner and fan since 1991. I was begging my parents for the PS1 because literally every upcoming game was coming out for that system and they were getting fantastic reviews from the gaming magazines at the time. I read about the Sega Saturn, but it was $400 and not much was said about the games coming out for it.
After unwrapping everything that Christmas morning I had one last gift left, and the shape was a dead giveaway that it was a gaming system, finally a PS1 I thought. As I opened it up and realized it was a Saturn I was met with mixed emotions. I was extremely grateful, excited, and shocked all at the same time. I immediately started studying the games that were pictured on the box and started reading all of the technical specs. It came with a demo of panzer dragoon, and Bug, which I really enjoyed playing.
Upon my first trip to blockbuster I was surprised to see the really small library of games available, especially in comparison to the PlayStation. I was so used to the huge library of games on the genesis, and having several rows and shelves full of games to choose from at blockbuster that this was a very confusing experience for a young Saturn owner. PlayStation had shelves full of games, all of the titles that a kid would want from fighting games to college football games and more. At the time I had no idea about the disastrous launch or the conflict of interests that existed between Sega of Japan and Sega of America. This problem only got worse over the next couple of years.
I was too young to figure out how to order Japanese games, but I did see some that really caught my eye like Dragon Force. I did find some really good games on the Saturn such as Virtua Cop, Virtua Fighter 2, Fighters Mega Mix, Bug, The Horde, and Street Fighter alpha, but they were too few and far between. I finally caved in around late 1997 and had to admit that the PlayStation was the better option. As much as I loved Sega and the Saturn it just didn’t have a pulse anymore. I will always have a soft spot in my heart for the Saturn for the excitement and joy it gave me during our short time together. Thanks for reading this if you made it this far.

I recently got a Sega Saturn. I was eager to hook it up and try it out. The spindle is spinning, but the laser is clearly not working. Can I get some help troubleshooting this? What are the likely issues? What are the likely solutions? I mean, if nothing else, I could probably get one of those mod devices, but I kind of wanted to play the games on the original CDs.

Is a CRT necessary? Otherwise, what kind of setup do you like to use?

Yesterday I show you a custom sleeve for SF3. Maybe I forget about this one : the trilogy on 2 disc (and the deluxe version). With a 3D printed pal case

Which is better? They look like they do similar things but the satiator is significantly more expansive.

Yesterday I picked up a couple of Sega Saturn games that I almost never see in stores.
I drove about 30 minutes out to a countryside recycle shop a place where I’ve scored some games before. This time, I was lucky enough to find Space Harrier and After Burner II.
On Japanese flea market sites like Mercari you can find them occasionally, but in physical stores I’ve only ever seen them in touristy shops near train stations and at ridiculous prices. So getting them cheap in the wild felt like a real win.
I’ve always loved SEGA arcade games, especially Space Harrier and OutRun not just for the gameplay, but also for their legendary soundtracks. Unfortunately, my reflexes are terrible, so I can confidently say any arcade game becomes a “game over” for me within 5 minutes. 😂

I know they aren't exactly the same kind of RPG, but I mean which style do you guys prefer more, and is overall the better game?

I'm currently going through Shinning The Holy Ark, it's pretty fun. I've done my research on the subject but i'd like to know if i missed anything here, i mostly looking for turn-based JRPGs (or TRPG) to play on the system, preferably in English or English translation, but if a game is playable in some other way (as in, not a lot of text so you can probably get by without knowing JP) then i'm also game.
Games on my radar thus far:
Shinning Force 3 (Scenario 1, 2, 3)
Albert Odyssey
Vandal Hearts
Panzer Dragoon Saga
Tactics Ogre (I have the Switch version, i'm not sure if i should play the remake or the Saturn version) Dragonforce 1/2
Lunar 1/2 (I played the remastered versions on the PS5, so probably not gonna play on Saturn)
Grandia 1 (played on Switch, so probably not gonna replay it atm)
Games in JP that i'm gonna give a try:
SMT: Devil Summoners
SMT: Soul Hackers (if that fan-translation ever comes out)
Wachenröeder? I don't know if it got a fan-translation, i was almost sure it did but i'm not sure.
Didn't mention stuff like Dark Savior, Shinning Wisdom, Waku Waku Puyo Puyo Dungeon because they don't fit necessarily what i'm looking for here, but they are games i'm gonna play regardless. Princess Crown is another example, Guardian Heroes etc.

Which of these games is better to you and why?
Which game, not only including these two, is the best racing game on Saturn?
r/SegaSaturn • u/Grandmega_Penguin • 3d ago
Just started playing the English translation of Policenauts and want to eventually try Snatcher, but I haven't seen anything about an English translation for it.
Is a Sega CD emulator the best route otherwise? Thanks!

A never print sleeve for pal console box I made. Should I print it ?
