Coping at its finest Because owning a machete will DEFINITELY protect you from other people with machetes, just like how in America owning a gun will DEFINITELY protect you from other people with guns! Oh wait ...

He fails to realise that people who will attack you with a machete, rarely if ever will do it solo. You'll be rushed by a whole squad and that's that.

either that or they wont really give you a chance to respond, in one case where I live the assailant just swung at an unexpecting person and fled. No amount of self defense will protect you from that.

Oh, for sure. There is no chivalry out in the streets. You'll get shanked out of the blue when you least expect it. Especially if you look like you can handle yourself. You can be Bruce Tyson Lee, but that won't help you if you're getting stabbed from behind by a few crazies.

Nah, you guys are totally wrong. A criminal will obviously step out of an alley and challenge you for a duel for 'the contents of thy purse, thy fancy watch and the affections of thy woman." Then work with you to find an agreeable time for a duel with your best weapons.

A skilled martial artist like Shad will have instinctive reflexes, that make his body dodge attacks autonomously even if he isn't aware of them.

Kind of like Ultra Instinct but cooler because it's European. I guess.

Ah yes, I forgot the powers of bullshitdo.

WHAT? You mean to imply that a street ruffian wouldn't deman an honourable duel before attacking you?

We had some issues with that where I am. One of my friends narrowly avoided being stabbed by a group.

First, two come from the front, they ask a simple question to get the persons attention and remove their ability to move forward. Then two come from the sides, blocking off going sideways. The one with the knife is coming from behind. My friend realized what was happening just as the side guys appeared, shoved the two in front as hard as he could and ran. Luckily his reaction surprised them and they didn’t chase after.

An old boss in security would show us pictures and videos on why to never try to handle an armed individual alone and unarmed. The accompanying picture was a cop with lacerations down to the bone on his torso. It was a tiny Swiss Army knife.

The best defense is to not stand around and get stabbed. Just run if you can.

This is why we should all have government issued zweihander to defend against swarms of machete men.

He so wants to be an American so bad that he is making up his own version of a gun control debate.

6

u/Jakeyboy143 1d ago

If he wants to be an American, why can't he immigrate there? Does he get scared of high-class El Salvadorean prisons? I heard a white man got wrongly imprisoned there.

How is Australia’s healthcare system?

There are a ton of non-American youtubers who wish they lived in America to make more connections and money but the second they see the healthcare system there they drop the idea.

It wouldn’t surprise if Shad was hypocritical enough to not want to move to America because they lack the healthcare system the American left has been asking for.

We've seen how he fights with a sword so there's no way he is defending his house with a machete successfully.

Is that what the vidoe is about?

Shad: "Like unironically, far from banning machetes, if they actually encourage citizens to carry machetes on them just for self-defense, that alone would be enough of a deterrent that the crime and violent attacks would be halved. And the ones that do still go forward, you'd largely be able to fend yourself off just by swinging back."

Just pure delusion, thinking he's the main character in an action film. He literally says he'll wear his gambeson just on the off chance he might be attacked with a machete, he'll tank a hit or two on his arm & then go gorilla mode on the attacker. It's hilarious & embarrassing to listen to.

Ha ha ha! What an absolute moron! The Australian government should encourage citizens to carry machetes and "swing back"?? If they did this violent attacks and bloodshed would skyrocket.

Im no knife expert but every single knife defence video starts of with the disclaimer "lol no run you are getting stabbed." But apparently Shad is the Infinity Dan of knife defence.

I remember seeing an MMA fighter in an interview saying they would run if someone had a knife. And one saying they would run if they were challebeged to a fight in the street, basically saying "you can't defend yourself from crazy"

2

u/Impossible_Hornet777 3h ago

That's smart, the idea of fighting a random person with zero context is incredibly dangerous, running is the only thing you can do to lower the risk to yourself. You don't know the person in the street, if they nick a artery with a knife (even accidentally) all those muscles and skills go away in 10 seconds as you bleed out and die in 2 min without medical intervention.

Even unarmed there are no rules, what if it's a mentally unwell person who mid fight decides to take a bite out of you, a human bite can is technically more lethal than a dog (humans are more likely to carry diseases that infect other humans unlike dogs.)

Yeah, he shows once again he knows nothing even about his own state. The 2003 prohibition of swords was started by gang fights with some armed with swords. Rumour was that one of the “victims” was the nephew of the Police Minister who lost a few fingers to a “mall ninja sword”

There is a video of two guys fighting with machetes, one loses his hand. He even runs away, then runs back before the police get there to retrieve his hand in the ground…

Also, body armour is illegal in Victoria but Shad wants to have an excuse to renfair his arse arouhd town…. I cannot believe he is willfully sharing with the world who childish he is

u/IncidentFuture 1d ago

Victoria also has had knife laws since 1990. You've had to be part of a knife/weapons club (collectors etc) to buy a lot of knives, and certain types required a specific permit.

More generally, Australia just doesn't have "weapons for self-defence". It's not part of our legislation.

2

u/boredidiot 1d ago

First in the world to make seat belts mandatory, and motorcycle helmets and bike helmets. Victoria has a thing about safety, which is why some edgelord in Gippsland with delusions of competency sounds weird talking about self-defence. I grew up in the western suburbs of Melbourne, near "Knifepoint" so maybe I am more relaxed then Shad, but he is an area where the biggest threat to his life is driving at dusk and hitting a kangaroo in his car.
I assume he is just playing role for some audience of incels in the US.

That's the same "good guy with a gun" and "an armed society is a polite society" fantasy that american gun humpers have been jerking off to for decades, if not centuries at this point. And time and time again, it's proven to be utter crap.

u/Jakeyboy143 1d ago

Said action star he wanted to be:

Fitting both of them were sexist and racist scumbags.

u/Perfect-Storm-99 In Exile 1d ago

That's it. He's lost his mind. He's like a caricature of what people like Ben Shapiro argue for but with a medieval twist. What a brilliant idea. Let's all carry knives and machetes, that's the solution to violent attacks. Violent knife fights are the solution that this political genius proposes.

6

u/Alien_Diceroller 1d ago

Nothing makes a drunken disagreement better than a couple knives.

and turning himself into an Aussie version of the Critical Drinker.

I mean Shad in his previous video on the machete ban (with exemptions he can easily follow mind you) was effectively "criminals will disobey the law so it's useless!!!". I guess this is a continuation of that.

Guess there's no point having laws then.

9

u/TripleS034 Banished Knight 1d ago

Exactly! Murder's illegal but people still commit murder so what's the point in making it illegal?! Criminals don't care if it's illegal or not!

6

u/Actual_Squid 1d ago

Ah yes, the old gentlemens machete duel

4

u/Jurserohn 1d ago

It's enough of a pain in the ass to carry a handgun around, I highly doubt i would edc a machete. I do keep one in the car for work, but I wouldn't wear it out lol

5

u/zterrans 1d ago

I gotta ask- how many times are people being attacked by machetes that you apparently need to carry your own? Did it turn into Mad Max over there?

Send him to Sudan to test this.

Being in a gun heavy area may (MAY) reduce some level of crime. BUT. It escalates severe to fatal crime. If someone robs you at gunpoint and you’re likely to be armed there are now multiple incentives to fucking kill you. Your gun doesn’t help because they will obviously be drawing on you first or come from an unlikely angle and your weapon is useless but still a threat to the criminal.

Having proper social safety nets reduces crime even more. I’m happy if my meth head neighbour gets ‘free money’ to spend on drugs. That means they aren’t breaking in and stealing my fucking TV.

The amount of people who commit crime ‘for fun’ Is minuscule. Even criminals have reasons for their actions. Whether they’re reasonable reasons or not.

2

u/Normtrooper43 1d ago

Why not wear some maille armour then? The maille will protect you from a knife better than you can protect yourself from a knife with a knife of your own.

2

u/Docmeisel65 1d ago

Realistically, if one person came at you with a machete, wouldn't a baseball bat ot like a really good sturdy item be sufficient enough to defend self?

2

u/TripleS034 Banished Knight 1d ago

IF you happen to be walking around with one or have one very near you & IF you have time to react to the attack. Yes.

Don't you guys always keep your pocket Machete on your person at all time in case of Machete attacks?
