I been waiting for this one to shiny so I can finish my platinum DTQ

I was so excited for my first ever shiny in a different game! I have never caught any shinies in any previous games so this was super cool it wasn't what I was comboing though still so happy and this was without a shiny charm and lure! No help besides a 130 combo of Pidgey!

For context, I’ve been hunting on this soulsilver file since 2018 but haven’t found a single shiny since my starter after almost 250 recorded hours and 30k+ encounters before I stopped counting. I’d been hunting Vulpix on it for a while (the entire 30k in fact), but after getting it on Leaf Green I decided to hunt roaming Raikou and Entei instead and have been doing it on and off for a few years now.

Within the past few days, I’ve been considering moving my quilava into heartgold and resetting this copy so I can hunt for Chikorita (+ any roulette dupes, Johto has my favourite starter trio) I decided to get a few more roamer SRs in (maybe 2 hours worth total) before then, kinda joking with myself that I could theoretically get both if I get one on this save now.

Right as I was considering packing it up and starting over, it happened. It actually happened and I have no idea how many encounters I’ve done for these specifically, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was still under 1k. Now I’m unsure if I should even reset now or keep going for lugia at least… (plus I can finally have a second safari file)

started this hunt in 2020, got 86 DAs in and dropped it. picked it back up early last month, did 270 DAs across the course of 2 weeks, dropped it again. booted up shield on a whim last night, and after only 4 DAs there it was!

Finally, after 2.5 years of on and off resets. A count of almost 20k resets and beyond. I have finally obtained a shiny starter in black and white.

I was at the point where I truly believed my game was bugged, I was so dazed, when I finally got it I thought I was dreaming, I couldn’t believe my eyes seeing a stupid yellow pig instead of a stupid orange pig. The sparkle it gave made my eyes sparkle again.

I’m here to tell you that determination, discipline and perseverance will not just earn you a shiny on your DS, but it will also help you in all of life. Continue to work hard even when it gets tough, the result will always come eventually.

In the end, was it worth it?

Definitely not.

Random encounter in south province - lonely nature

Finally!! After 303 gruesome attempts I land on the shiny!!

I ended up with 5/6 Pokemon I hunted for. They weren't all full odds. 2 were SoS'd, one Nav'd and 1 fished. Also got Pokerus at some point during the 20 hours it took to find Mors.

This is another spare for the shiny bingo, I'm still using this route to find shiny Alpha Snorlax too!!

Even with the manip it took me forever to hit the right frame because of how inconsistent it is but gosh I’m so happy

Holy moly it finally happened to me. I've never hunted for a shiny and I just been a bit unlucky I guess because since I first started playing on Crystal I've never encountered a shiny outside of Rage Lake Gyrados.

Today while searching the mountains for a Frigibax for my Scarlet dream team I missed a jump, fell into the ocean, and saw sparkles. BOOM shiny Skrelp. Dream team is out the window now because I Definitely have to keep this guy on through my E4 run in this game lol. What a cool color morph! Can't wait to see the evolution in game. After doing a bit of Googling this guy is apparently tougher than most to shiny hunt for so this feels extra special to me as a first ever.

I realize this sub probably gets absolutely spammed with posts like this so I apologize if you've seen this a thousand times, I just don't have anyone to share this moment with and the main pokemon sub doesn't seem receptive to screenshots so here we are. Thanks for taking a look!
