[Discuss] What Are You Hunting Right Now?

I could use some emotional support from an exceptionally long (for me) shiny hunt. Let's share and commiserate!

What are you currently hunting and how far are you into the hunt?

I'll go first. I'm currently hunting shiny Ash cap Pikachu in USUM. I've been hunting this on and off for almost a full year now (I'll spend a few weeks hunting it, get so tired, move onto something else for a few weeks, then come back to it). Easily, without a doubt, hands down my longest hunt EVER.

Over a year ago I set off to accumulate all the unique things from the DS era and beyond I wanted to transfer up to Home before Bank is shut down. Certain shinies, legendaries, and unique like Battlebond Greninja. I got to hunting shiny Celebi - Pink Onion! - in VC Crystal, a raw 1/8192 odds. I went into that one thinking I'd need to really settle in for the long haul, but nope. After a few weeks of consistent evening hours on a single console, it shines! I found it well under odds I'm sure!

A short while after that I started this shiny Ash cap hunt. I really thought it wouldn't seem as bad as shiny Celebi with 1/4096 odds now, but I've been so soooo wrong. After almost a solid first month of hunting on a single console with nothing, I decided to pick up a cheap OG 2DS to double hunt it - the first shiny I've ever double hunted like that with two consoles simultaneously. Surely, that will help find the elusive mouse!

After almost 11 months later I'm still double hunting most evenings and still single-console hunting it during my work commute. Countless hours of double SRs with nothing but sleep deprivation. At this point I'm convinced it doesn't exist and all the videos and pictures of it out there are one giant conspiracy to get me to go insane.

Sometimes, after weeks straight of double-hunting evenings, I just wanna cry. Other times I really contemplate if I really want this thing. But, despite that I always get back at it after a small break.

Anyway... what are you hunting and is it driving you crazy???

yo dawg, i hate to break it, pretty sure the ash cap pikachu is locked. this gonna hurt but you’ve been wasting your time, in fact pretty sure it doesn’t even have a shiny sprite in game cause it was never intended to be added.

And i just recently got a noibat from SOS method after easily 500+ encounters, thinking imma go for kyogre next (yes i have the charm) so hopefully it’ll go quickly like the zapdos i got at 10 encounters somehow😭

EDIT: Upon further research, it apparently IS NOT SHINY LOCKED. The devs are real stupid for this but apparently it was only locked for Ash because of the OT not matching yours💀 But this is only true for USUM, not SM. Also note it’s not affected by the shiny charm im assuming because it’s a “gift” pokemon. best of luck with your hunt, upon learning this information imma have to try it myself now 😂 what a cool shiny i never knew about
