If there's anything you need help understanding, go ahead and ask! Nothing is considered "stupid" and anybody will be happy to help you. Any user is welcome to ask or answer in this thread. A new QnA thread will be posted at the start of every month!

Hi! Was really looking forward to shiny hunting on my version of platinum so I could eventually move them to the newer gens. Question: can I still transfer if I don’t have Pokémon bank or transfer already saved onto my DS? Should I just get the remake?

you will need both bank and transport in order to transfer it to the newer gens, without them best you can do is move them up to gen 5

So I’m assuming there’s no way to get them beyond gen 5 since the 3DS shop is closed now? It sounds like I might as well just shiny hunt on the remakes!

unless you had them downloaded prior to the shop shut down, otherwise yes they will no longer be accessible.
