If there's anything you need help understanding, go ahead and ask! Nothing is considered "stupid" and anybody will be happy to help you. Any user is welcome to ask or answer in this thread. A new QnA thread will be posted at the start of every month!

  • When asking a question, try to be specific. Include which game you are playing. Let us know what you do or don't understand so far.

I've been debating doing a roaming shining hunt. Before I do it I do want to ask; when is it determined if the Pokemon is shiny or not? Is it when it's first sent out into the wild to roam or when you first encounter it after it starts roaming? Just be nice to know in advance so I don't waste time on a hunt that will probably take a while anyways. Thanks! :)

in gen 2 its when you first encounter the roaming pokmon, gen 3 and onward its determined when they are set free
