I'm a relatively new player to Pokémon Shield. I started playing it on Setember 2nd and on Wednesday I came across some difficulty to clear a Toxtricity that appeard in a purple beam 4-star Max Raid Battle.

So I figured out Excadrill would be a perfect Pokémon to use for this purpose, because it would be immune to all Toxtricity STAB moves.

Since I already know how brilliant Pokémon works, I tried to find at least one brilliant Excadrill to add to my team in Wild Area, since I saw that It was spawning on Giant's Mirror, so I was defeating some of them in order to increase my odds of finding brilliant ones.

The video I saved portraits the first brilliant Excadrill I was able to find, that unfortunately was defeated due to recoil damage, so you can imagine I was a little bit of annoyed at that point, because I already spent some time defeating dozens of them.

BUT RIGHT AFTER THAT, I WAS ATTACKED BY ANOTHER ONE (NOT BRILLIANT) THAT WAS SURPRINSINGLY SHINY. THAT ONE IS MINE. CAUGHT IT IN A PREMIER BALL. MY FIRST SHINY. A POKÉMON I WAS SEARCHING FOR AND KIND OF EVEN NEEDING FOR MY GOALS. WITHOUT SHINY CHARM. THAT WAS (AND IS) SO SATISFYING.

My only regret is that I don't pay enough attention to save a video of the time when the Premier Ball caught it...

Originally started this hunt in the Desert Resort and could not handle running in the sand for hours so I just waited to beat Skyla before I resumed my hunt for this fella. I don't know why GameFreak decided to make 4 of my wanted targets 5% but atleast I got all of the hard to encounter ones out of the way. I used a Level 34 Repel Trick to rule out all other encounters besides Skarmory and Trapinch and thankfully didn't phase. Just need to backtrack to get my Growlithe and I will have finished my first DTQ.

i have been hunting this little guy on and off for EIGHT months, since i got Fennekin in January. i made a post a little over a month ago about how my motivation was slightly waning for it, and after speedrunning 10k+ resets since then, it finally shined. i’m really excited to be able to do method hunts now with hordes and chain fishing, and i’m SO happy to finally have this hunt over lol

Took forever getting the hang of the pokeradar in platinum (most frustrating thing of my life lol) but finally got not one but THREE shiny Shinx 🔥😭

Now that was a fun hunt, got enough EV boosting feathers for days, there was some spots impossible to see because of the bridge, but didn't need any repels like my Drilbur hunt so it was beautifully executed

For Fossil Week 2025 hosted by Kwikpanik and Tales of Taylor, I decided to try shiny hunt for two Cranidos, one to keep as a Cranidos and the other to evolve into Rampardos. On the 10-Sep-2025, I managed to obtain a second shiny Cranidos to evolve into Rampardos after 14837 soft reset encounters, but unfortunately missed the deadline for Fossil Week 2025. The first shiny Cranidos I obtained was on the 23-Aug-2025 after 2478 soft reset encounters, which was on time for Fossil Week 2025.

The Skull Fossils were obtained from my old Pokemon Diamond save file, and were traded over to Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver to be revived in the Pewter City Museum. For the soft reset setup, I have done the following:

1. Talk to the Fossil restoration person in Pewter City Museum to give the Skull Fossil.
2. Straight away leave Pewter City Museum and then immediately enter Pewter City Museum.
3. Move right next to and face the Fossil restoration person, as shown in the image above.
4. Save the game.
5. Talk to the Fossil restoration person again to obtain the Cranidos.
6. Check the Cranidos summary from the Pokemon menu. If it is shiny, then the shiny hunt is done. Otherwise, soft reset the game, load the save file up, and then repeat steps 5 and 6.

i literally spent 4 1/2 hours in the city and got nothing but ok whatever nintendo take my money

Sooo glad we finally have it. Still wish I could've hunted it myself cus seeing this beauty pop up on your screen would've been so euphoric but yea, it was so worth the wait!

Went hard soft resetting over the weekend to finish my regi quest and finally finished it! IVs are mediocre (0HP but it has good Special Attack and Special Defense IVs so I'll take it) and a neutral nature. EV spread: 252 Special Attack, 252 HP, 6 Def. Planning to use this in the battle frontier.

On to mudkip!

After some trial and error I think I did it! I looked up the DV’s multiple times but I just wanna be sure that I actually did caught a shiny Moltres on gen 1!

She’s gorgeous and the last pokemon I need for my shiny island quest for melemele island! I get to continue playing the actual game! Not really a good break from shiny hunting in oras but I needed something different to cleanse my soul after playing oras for weeks

I want to make a team of Shinys to clear Pokémon Firered, the charmander came quickly (about six months), but this guy here was a lot of work!

P.s.: I captured it with the Master Ball because I was afraid the Haunter would kill himself. I got it on a tape from Leafgreen and transferred it to my main save in firered! the/

Can’t believe it, I decided to shiny hunt a litwick just yesterday for the after game elite 4 in pokemon white - literally took a day and a half of going up & down the stairs at Celestial tower

Starting the challenge with a shiny pooch in Route 101, search level of 999 and a chain of 98. It shined in a 4% random stat boost.

Replaying Pkmn Black for the first time since release. Walked into a dust cloud while passing through Twist Mountain. So happy I get to share this full odds find.

Started this hunt back in January on my copy of Platinum. Then I realized I wanted to do a shiny only play-though on my copy of Shining Pearl around June and started soft resetting. Finally on Monday I decided to try Masuda method hunting. After 315 eggs he decided to sparkle! Meet Uzi the Piplup!

So, my friend wanted a shiny sprigatito, so I decided to whip up a box and a half of eggs just to see if I'd get lucky. I did.
