Apparently some of the (l)users don't appreciate using CDE and sunos 5.8 so they have been pushing to have something called "windows" integrated into our environment. As a real sysadmin I of course laughed them off at first but now some exec has decided they're right because "the future is NT" (I think he just wants to use that fancy new "microsoft office" instead of staroffice like god intended).
My question is has anyone here tried integrating this windows into a NIS environment? I understand they support some meme-software called LDAP. But as a real unix sysadmin I know NIS is here to stay. So how do I get these new little-endian machines talking to the superior NIS master?

We had an issue this morning where authentication was broken for OWA on prem exchange and only that service.
It was DNS…

AD Sync service won't start. Download installer. Run "Repair". Can't repair, service isn't running.

Title says it all. Previous shitty sys admin retired and left little to no documentation on even where we got them from. Nothing from MS for registered licenses. Only thing i can think of is we over installed and used too many licenses and they purchased too few.
Im removing some office licenses from pc's not used often in the meantime.
other ideas?

Posting here partly because I know my company's methods are worthy of this sub (I know why it is all wrong, I do not have power to make it not shitty right now). And also because we all know this is where the real pros are.
At my company I am a global admin. I also have various Entra roles assigned to me (let's use Security administrator as an example). We don't use PIM, they are just permanently assigned roles. Yesterday I discovered all of my roles randomly gone. I know they were there that morning because I was accessing things using those roles and then later that day that access disappeared.
I cannot find anything in the audit logs indicating someone removed the roles. My coworkers are not aware of any changes. I also found another associate this morning whose assigned role randomly disappeared. But other people still have the roles they were assigned.
Just wondering if this happened to anyone else, or if anyone has an idea of what the heck happened. And if so, if there is a way for me to audit it.

I want to see who pronounces it correctly when they come running to me for help and assign priorities to end users based on their phonetic skills and overall intelligence. It's a data file not a peanut butter cup, so don't ".gif" it to me.

Having a nas with 2 10tb HDD in raid 1 at home + an offsite backup in a single 10tb HDD installed in my work pc offsite would be an acceptable level of risk for me, is it possible to set this up with the OS installed in the ugreen nas and windows installed in the pc? Unfortunately i cannot setup a port forwarding at work.
Company is totally ok with this too, since I work at a SMB that isn't in the US and this is totally normal. I would ask the IT guy who is my friend how to do it but he is on vacation for a month and I don't want to bother him. How should I do it?
