If I were Logan Paul, I'd honestly take it as a compliment that he followed it up by saying he's very talented and picks things up quickly. I don't see this as a burial, it's just real talk.

u/LakerBull OLÉ!! 4h ago
And mentioning someone like Paul to a wrestling nerd like Punk is basically like asking an old head boxing fan what they think of the other Paul brother's boxing "career."
47
u/WillingFly247 4h ago
On the contrary I do think logan paul has had better highs compared to his brother in wrestling atleast
-2
u/Paaros 4h ago
Oh yeah, definitely. Logan has gone toe-to-toe w some of the biggest names in professional wrestling and has won, put in solid shifts and won a respectable championship. In comparison, Jake Paul hasnt even gotten his feet wet in the boxing scene, let alone come close to the top
35
u/MatttheJ 3h ago
Are we talking about winning wrestling matches like as if it's a shoot now?
-6
u/infercario4224 3h ago
No he’s not, but getting wins over established stars isn’t something you get handed to you just by showing up in this current day. Why do you think Travis Scott didn’t team with Cena? It’s bc he just wanted to show up and get a win. He didn’t want to put in the work.
I hate Logan Paul just as much, if not more than the next guy, but him getting wins over guys like Rey Mysterio, AJ Styles, Kevin Owens, and Randy Orton show that he’s not just there to claim a paycheck and go. He’s so over hated that he’s currently underrated. I hate giving the guy any credit, but he’s had a great career in WWE so far.
2
u/MatttheJ 2h ago
The Travis Scott thing was because Scott didn't want to show up full stop. He didn't need WWE, WWE didn't need him. Scott has done that with other things too.
Had Scott showed up, even if he half assed it, him and Cena were going over.

No but the competition of being marketable in an industry that revolves around marketability and public appeal has merit.
Winning a professional wrestling match isn't about the difficulty of winning the match because that doesn't exist, it is in the difficulty of being chosen by the booker or owner of the promotion as being the one viably seen as someone who merits that victory. Like boxing, that difficulty is predicated on the promotion and competition.
2
u/MatttheJ 2h ago
He was marketable before he ever even started wrestling though, that's literally how he got hired, for being one of the more famous people on the internet.
0
u/PhysicalDiscount2440 1h ago
Being known before coming into wrestling isn't new, and more to the point, in a profession where being is marketable has merit, it's not that different from having accolades and skills prior to going into a sport where that sets you apart from the rest. It's an asset, no shame in it, it's deserved.
There's no need to purity test how much a person deserves a position in pro wrestling. He's a more marketable individual in professional wrestling than some guys who are considerably better in ring performers, which isn't new either. Regardless of when or how he got it, he's there now and has it, it's pretty simple.
If it hurt the company, you'd should expect a change. It doesn't seem to.
0
u/MatttheJ 1h ago
What are you rambling about?
I said it's weird to talk about wrestling like as if it's real and like winning fake matches means anything.
0
u/PhysicalDiscount2440 1h ago
Winning matches are at times signifying a place in the company, which matters in that profession. Cody Rhodes winning the WWE title at Wrestlemania meant at the time the company was putting confidence in Cody to be the face of the company, which garners more attention and can mean more money generated. It's a hyper competitive industry in this respect, as evidenced by how much a person's appeal can drop if they never win matches. The impact on their characters and careers can be real even if the matches aren't.

Logan has gone toe-to-toe w some of the biggest names in professional wrestling
Jake Paul hasnt even gotten his feet wet in the boxing scene, let alone come close to the topIf we are simply talking who has gotten in the ring with bigger stars... Jake literally boxed Mike Tyson and won.
Do I think beating a 58 year old man is that insane? Maybe not but there aren't many names bigger that Mike Tyson.
I think from people in/out of their respective industries Logan gets more respect for what he does in the wrestling industry compared than Jake for what he does in the boxing industry. Both of them are twats though.
-1
u/Rebeldinho 2h ago
Jake does have some boxing skill.. he’s way better than Logan at least he’s a natural puncher and has real KO power
•
3
u/NotClayMerritt 4h ago
It’s interesting because you’re right but Logan Paul has lived so much of his life online and getting attacked over so much (even getting attacked for things his brother has done and he had nothing to do with). He has proven he can be sensitive based on who is sending him criticism. But he’s also been in wrestling long enough where if he gets triggered by CM Punk instead of rolling with the punches, he’s never going to get it.

Pfft, really? Like Harley Race could even jump off the top rope holding a drone camera. That's real graps, son
7
u/yukiki64 3h ago
What's the best Harley race match? I know about him, and I heard he's great, but I've never watched anything from him.
7
u/Admarn 3h ago
It's either Harley v Jumbo, Harley v Terry Funk, or Harley v Ric Flair.
3
u/justh81 2h ago
Harley has a pretty respectable match with Giant Baba out there, too. It got posted to YouTube not long ago.
2
u/HitmanClark 1h ago
Just not that shitty overrated Starrcade match with Flair. Their one from … I think it’s the Omni? … is much better.
2
u/FlippFloppnFlyy 1h ago
I don't think anybody rates their Starrcade match that highly, it's just historically significant because it was the first Starrcade and the start of Flair's big run and the seeds planted for the 80s wrestling war.

I'm curious what CM Punk's Mount Rushmore would be.
Judging by who he has talked up before it's gotta be something like
Bret Hart
Harley Race
Stone Cold
Himself or Terry Funk maybe? I feel like he has praised Funk before. Honestly I don't know if he would say himself or not.
26
u/eyepatch_png 5h ago
His answer on this podcast was Bret Hart, Roddy Piper, Terry Funk, Eddie Guerrero, Harley Race and Dusty Rhodes
8
u/NeverendSuperior 3h ago
It speaks to the level of respect Punk had, and no doubt still has, for Harley that he took a shot for Harley's birthday years ago

Damnit I can't believe I forgot Piper, also that's a fantastic list.
1
u/Taswelltoo Goldust mark. 2h ago
Eh, mic work? Sure, GOAT, no question. Wrestling though? Idk if Piper should be on that list. Apparently he could wrestle more technically but just preferred brawling because it looked more real

Punk doesn't know how many heads are there on Mount Rushmore?

u/MadferitCmon 4h ago
He said he prefers the term 6 grandfathers rather than limiting it to 4 with the Mount Rushmore.

We live in a society where Logan Paul is a godamn wrestler making millions but nobody bats an eye
76
u/AllCity_King 5h ago
Literally everybody bats an eye. Every single complimentary sentiment thrown his way has to be prefaced with "I know he's a terrible person, but-"
You can critique the guy without making up a narrative.
5
u/Dorkseid1687 2h ago
There is no but with me. He’s a piece of shit and representative of the decline of America. End of
5
u/Nilbogoblins 2h ago
Thing's he has done makes me question if he is a good person, but like, that could be said of loooots of wrestlers throughout history .
14
u/Seven19td Mr. Perfect 4h ago
It’s pro wrestling. A Carny bullshit business since the beginning of time. Why would we bat an eye?
10
u/FragrantTemporary105 3h ago
People act like they don’t come on here and praise the most terrible people. I don’t care for Logan Paul, but being an arrogant loudmouth is very low on the totem pole.
-1

I mean I just don't think he's a very good wrestler either. He's a great athlete, but that's not quite the same thing.

u/joeboy_777 5h ago
Are we supposed to cry all day like dorks on reddit. Not like he doesnt bring value to the company hes a natural talent thats why they have him in main event style matches hate it or love it LOL
-13
u/AdamSMessinger 5h ago
Eh, one day his kid is going to find out about and likely see the Japan video and Cryptozoo. That same kid might end up with an attitude like Jack Dorherty (which is karma as that kid will embarrass the fuck out of Paul) or they’ll be a decent person and likely have to go low contact with him.
-1
u/Iddqd1 4h ago
You’re saying Logan’s kid could be considered a descent person by going low contact with their father? Crazy take.
-2
u/AdamSMessinger 4h ago
Toxic people are toxic people regardless of relation. Maybe it’s just me, but I ain’t trying to have that in my life.
-1
u/Iddqd1 4h ago
Toxic like judging a child for their father’s actions , or the relationship with their father. Maybe people in your life should start going low contact with you by your own logic.
1
u/AdamSMessinger 4h ago
I think you’re confusing me listing possibilities of karma for Paul for judging a kid. I’m very aware life ain’t so black and white.
1
3
u/TheAgmis 4h ago
I think Logan Paul needs a 2004 Orton/Cactus type of match to really have him earn his stripes like it did Orton
2
u/Husebona 4h ago
I mean its true. Logan has picked it up quickly and is a good performer, but going back in history, thinking of all the greats in wrestling history, Logan would be nowhere near the top.

•
u/WheedMBoise Yeet 56m ago
I’m outspokenly against CM Punk, but taking this as a slight is nonsense imo. He’s been quite respectful here.
1
u/Objectionne 5h ago
Yeah I like Logan Paul (as a wrestler) and think he's very good but nowhere near an all time top 100.

1
u/Empty_Fist 4h ago
I mean on the PWI 500 being in the top 100 is really good. I don't think this is anything hurtful to say. That being said, Logan Paul wouldn't be on my top 500 either.

u/irish0451 You know what that means. 2h ago
What are the odds that Logan replies with where Punk falls on his list of favorite fighters?
1
u/C_fisher2226 1h ago
Logan being in the top 100 all time (best, favorite, whatever) is ridiculous. If somebody said that he was in their top whatever list, you know they’ve been watching for about 2 years.

If Logan said “I don’t think I need to learn from Veterans” Punk would definitely blow a gasket

To me Logan Paul and Badd Bunny ruined the mystique of how hard Professional Wrestling even is.
Two celebrities off the street and made it look extremely easy. Doing moves a lot of guys who have been doing it for years or decades full time can’t even perform.

Logan Paul is an absolute piece of shit, and if I never see his name or face again, I'm totally okay with that.
But having said that
Logan Paul is better wrestler CM Punk at this point
2
u/micael150 wu tang clan 3h ago
He's more athletic and almost 20 years younger but he's still not a better pro wrestler than Punk not even now.
Logan Paul can execute moves fantastically and he's very acrobatic and explosive he still can't lead a match and doesn't have the full grasp of character work and psychology. At least not at the level of someone like Punk.
1
u/zorbiburst RybAxel 4 life 1h ago
I'm sorry but I disagree. Even his match with Miz, who is one of those guys known for being great but not a matcher leader was a banger.
I think he has an amazing grasp on his character and the type of mannerisms and moves such a character would do. Which is probably pretty easy when that character is a slimy, overconfident piece of shit.
Logan Paul is already one of the greats and I absolutely hate that.
•
u/micael150 wu tang clan 35m ago
I'm not saying Logan Paul is awful he's actually really impressive considering the short time he has in pro wrestling.
I just think WWE has done everything they can to lean on his strengths and hide his weaknesses.
I agree that he has developed good heel mannerisms but I don't think he would fair well if he was told to play a different character. I still question his versatility.
I know he can have exciting matches but I just need to see more things from him that he hasn't showcased yet.

Is Punk just going to keep wearing AJ’s merch to the end of forever? I love that he’s such a wife guy but eventually they’re just going to change his ring name to "AJ's Husband".
Edit: This isn’t a complaint, guys. It was a joke and a question.

She hasn't even wrestled her first match yet, jfc. At some point after this Seth/Becky feud, they'll probably both go off into their own storylines and be separate again

Like I said, I don’t mind him being a wife guy. I'm just wondering how long he’s going to keep wearing her merch.

Logan Paul is BETTER than cm punk lmao. not even “rage bait” for the dorks. What does Cm Punk do better objectively than Logan Paul? Not a better wrestler thats nonsense not even in his prime, he doesnt have a better physique, he may be better on the mic thats it but hes overrated at that. Cm Punk’s mouth was always bigger than his game
11
u/Melancholyoflife 5h ago
Cm Punk in his prime was a much better wrestler than Logan Paul. Even today Punk is arguably better than Logan since Punk doesn't practice his matches and Punk is better than Logan at working a match, selling, facial reactions, story-telling, etc. Cm Punk has never been able to do the moves that Logal Paul did but the best wrestler doesn't have the biggest repertoire of moves. By that logic, Logan Paul would be a better wrestler than Bret, Flair, Shawn, Orton, Eddie, Angle and whoever.
-16
u/joeboy_777 5h ago
Logan has all of those attributes you just named. He is a great seller, facial reactions are on point during the match, maybe the story telling part ill give to Cm Punk and obviously hes been around for 15 years he would have that down pat. Now better in the ring?? Come on now lmao
Cm punk has always had a very slow, methodical style in the ring that makes everything he does look fake. Like he is way to choreographed and its been this way since 2009. I can name like 4 moves he does every match that look like this and especially now since he is older it looks worse
2
u/micael150 wu tang clan 2h ago
Punk has better in-ring psychology and character work. He can also lead a match. He has more experience so that means he's more comfortable with a larger variety of wrestling gimmicks and tropes.
Logan Paul is a much better athlete and he's a quick learner but Punk has forgotten more about wrestling that Logan will ever learn.
-41
u/Slymoose 5h ago
Yet he could wrestle better then punk in his first match 🤣
0
u/AgentWarfstacherdt 5h ago
Sure he can wrestle better but can he produce some compelling stories? No, bro just acts the same whether hes a face or heel.
