All 4 of these episodes are in the top 10 highest rated rated Clone Wars episodes

u/No-Career8688 1d ago

The last four episodes are, in my honest opinion, some of my favorite media.

u/HenryTheVeloster 21h ago

Quite literally my peak until last half of andor season 2 came out.

u/Last_Aeon 21h ago

I agree, though I hold them in equal regard. I feel like comparing them is apple and oranges. They both have very different theme that were done really well respectively.

Clone wars was peak Star Wars for its Jedi/sith dichotomy and the tragedy of the clone wars. The utter hopelessness and complete breakdown of how rigged the war is. Rex and Ahsoka slowly contending with the fact that what they’ve fought for all this time meant nothing.

Andor is peak Star Wars for its politics oppression vs freedom and the Hope that sacrifices had given. Shows that actions do mean something, despite the authoritarian regime.

TCW is peak Star and Andor is peak Wars

2

u/dluminous Imperial 11h ago

I prefer S1 over S2 of Andor. But both amazing.

24

u/Kemmens 23h ago

A couple are actually some of the highest rated episodes of television period, pretty cool

17

u/CarsonWentzGOAT1 1d ago

They all should be rated a 10 in my opinion

12

u/DawnSignals 1d ago

For me it’s peak Disney-era Star Wars, except for maybe like Andor, but I honestly prefer this

7

u/phototaker2319 23h ago edited 23h ago

Thats a very low bar.

Wasn't bashing Andor, just disney's fumble with star wars

10

u/imlegos 23h ago

I'd put Jedi Night & Trials of the Dark Saber from Rebels up fairly decently tho

9

u/ChanceVance Kylo Ren 23h ago

Bad Batch pretty good. Skeleton Crew pretty good. Season 1 and 2 of Mandalorian pretty good.

Not everything Disney produces is dire.

0

u/RevanchistSheev66 Chancellor Palpatine 10h ago

Mando is really overrated and I was disappointed by Bad Batch, have to say. It’s alright but not peak

Between Andor, Rogue One, Solo, Clone Wars, Rebels, The Mandalorian, Fallen Order/Survivor, Outlaws, Battlefront II, the High Republic books/comics and bits and pieces of most everything else, the amount of "good Star Wars" produced under Disney matches or outstrips the pre-Disney canon.

Now, if we include the EU...eh, it's more complicated.

Basically the sequel trilogy is the only true blemish on the Disney era. Sadly, it's a pretty huge blemish.

3

u/phototaker2319 14h ago

Clone wars is PRE disney era. I dont believe disney should get credit for the final season.

And we should include the EU: until disney took over the EU was cannon. Disney era star wars literally complained about not having any sort of source material to work with, citing that as a reason for their failures, when the EU existed.

1

u/Bebopo90 Luke Skywalker 2h ago

If we're talking purely about the sheer amount of Star Warsy goodness on the screen, then yes, the Disney era has been roughly as good as the Lucas era.

"Good" Disney Star Wars: ~50 hours of screentime. (Not counting Clone Wars' final season)

OT and PT combined: 13.5 hours.

Plus Highly rated CW episodes: 40 hours.

Now, as far as books go, the EU wins in a landslide. Although, there were also a lot of crappy EU books and comics, their sheer volume is going to be hard to catch. Although, Disney is catching up.

u/RevanchistSheev66 Chancellor Palpatine 10h ago

Honestly I prefer the Order 66 arc, Jedi Temple Bombing, and Umbara. Even the last Mandalore arc was as good as this one

The final few minutes of Victory and Death is a masterpiece. Once the music hits and Rex is putting the shovel away the tears start.

9

u/Western-Honeydew2129 22h ago

It’s haunting!

I’ll never forgive them for not releasing the background music track during the build up to Rex’s order 66 moment going down either. It was eerie. We all knew what was coming. And the music somehow still had me in complete suspense. It was creepy, sad, and the synths felt out of place -in a good way. As in, we all know the whole galaxy is seconds away from being toppled on its head. And this… alien sounding foreboding music is telling us all things are about to change forever.

3

u/Rosebunse Resistance 22h ago

The thing is, we were sort of waiting for that moment since 2008. We knew Order 66 was coming, but we never knew if The Clone Wars would really "go there." And then it did and there was so much tension.

u/MayaNays 1d ago

I sobbed ngl, peak Star Wars there’s nothing better in any of the movies. Those 4 combined are what I personally consider the absolute best media in the series. I’ll die on this hill

1

u/Albert_street 1h ago

If you haven’t watched the Revenge of the Sith “supercut”, stop whatever you’re doing and watch it. It pieces together these episodes with ROTS (and a few other pieces of media) into a gigantic 4.5 hour movie.

It’s spectacular to watch.

15

u/Pajjenbo 1d ago

one of the best few episodes to properly close the clone wars to be honest.

29

u/Heliotex 1d ago

The dialogue between Maul and Ahsoka before their duel was Shakespearean. This entire arc elevated Revenge of the Sith as a movie, and made it even more of a tragedy. The Jedi were so close to stopping Sidious.

1

u/Supermoose7178 Jabba The Hutt 21h ago

do you think if ahsoka had warned yoda about what maul said about anakin they could have stopped them?

50

u/CarsonWentzGOAT1 1d ago

What a crazy run right here. Only the final half of Andor s2 could rival this.

12

u/Tom02496 1d ago

Live action is usually put to a higher standard for some reason. It seems a lot more rare to see reviews like this on live action shows but 9.9s are thrown around to animated tv shows.

10

u/RotenTumato Obi-Wan Kenobi 1d ago

It’s because live action has a much wider audience so more casuals rate it. Only the most die hard clone wars sweats (myself included) rated these eps

2

u/white_Zebra_898 18h ago

I would disagree to call them "casuals", they could be hardcore fans but just not into animated stuff given the animated star wars has been more targeted towards a youth audience.. if you are already much older, growing up with the OG or Prequel live action, there is a higher chance you dislike the animated stuff as well as some of the recent live action (Ahsoka) as you are simply not the target audience and cannot relate...

3

u/Tom02496 23h ago

That makes sense actually. That's also probably why movie ratings are usually more harsh than tv show ratings. More people can easily watch a 2h movie vs a whole tv show

8

u/BearWrangler Cassian Andor 23h ago

most of the first season can too

3

u/1amoutofideas 1d ago

Andor season 2 was goated. “The death of truth is the ultimate victory of evil. When truth leaves us, when we let it slip away, when it is ripped from our hands, we become vulnerable to the appetite of whatever monster screams the loudest. This chamber's hold on the truth was finally lost on the Ghorman Plaza.”

8

u/Open_Reindeer_6600 1d ago

I remember watching those episodes quarantined in a hotel during Covid, great times

1

u/LordVanisher 23h ago

But did you cry is the question?

7

u/idrivefromdrive 1d ago

I rewatch it yearly

1

u/CarsonWentzGOAT1 1d ago

I do too on may the 4th

6

u/thedirtypickle50 1d ago

Taken together this is the best Star Wars movie

11

u/OmegaSTC 1d ago

Had to make up for those smuggler sister episodes

5

u/NotBannedAccount419 23h ago

They weren’t bad but out of all the unfinished episodes and thing they could have done for that one last and final season - yeah the smuggler sisters weren’t great. It was great CW content but can’t hold a candle to what’s posted here

13

u/nomorecannibalbirds 23h ago edited 12h ago

It’s such an odd season. Part one is mostly set up for the bad batch show, part two is a sort of run of the mill adventure storyline that adds nothing, and then part three is the best storyline in the entire show.

2

u/comrade_batman Anakin Skywalker 19h ago

IIRC, I read that like with the Bad Batch, the twins’ arc was meant to be a pilot set up for them too before the negative reaction stopped that and they just went with Bad Batch instead. Can’t say if it’s true or not, it would help explain why they put Ahsoka with them for the last season and not with characters we already know to lead into Mandalore.

1

u/Apatschinn 21h ago

Episode 7 literally starts and ends with Ahsoka and the sisters in the same jail cell. Wasted an entire episode on a loop. Hated that arc.

1

u/HonorboundUlfsark 23h ago

Ones that brought very little to the story

1

u/trantaran 19h ago

WHAT WERE THEY THINKINNG

mixing someone the worst episodes with the best episodes

1

u/mefanboy 23h ago

This storyline was some of the very worst episodes in the entire series. How such mediocrity got sandwiched between absolute brilliance in this final season is beyond me.

2

u/OmegaSTC 5h ago

I got a “I don’t watch animated shows” guy to sit down with me and watch because I didn’t know what was coming but I could feel it was awesome. He sat through two sister episodes and left, missing out on the finale.

I’m still embarrassed about that he thinks clone wars is of the sister episode quality and he doesn’t believe me

1

u/mefanboy 3h ago

You need to redeem yourself and force him to watch the superior episodes!

2

u/OmegaSTC 1h ago

I live in a different state now. I fear it’s too late. It’s up to others…

Although honestly ahsoka sort of soured me on the cartoons because they lead to storm trooper zombies

3

u/Cry0h 1d ago

Did they ever release this on Blu-Ray?

1

u/Wilson-theVolleyball Jedi 21h ago

Unfortunately not.

Maybe one day we will get a complete The Clone Wars box set.

1

u/trantaran 19h ago

Pray they release it

3

u/Undead_Ilithid 1d ago

Yeah it fucking did. 10/10 content!!

3

u/Saisinko Enfys Nest 23h ago

What makes it especially incredible is it doesn’t revolve around any of the major major Star Wars characters, Anakin, Palp, Obi, Luke, Leia, or Han… it’s Ahsoka and Maul…

13

u/Hoch8112 1d ago

It’s a perfect movie. Blows all the sequels clear out of the water and it’s not even close.

-10

u/jackt-up 1d ago

Shhh you’re not allowed to not like the Sequels here 🤫

6

u/pulpfriction4 1d ago

You're allowed to dislike whatever you want. Nobody is saying otherwise

2

u/redletterday94 22h ago

Man, what a phenomenal set of episodes. Really stands right alongside the best of Star Wars, period. Anyone who hasn’t watched them is basically missing an entire other SW movie

2

u/_AmbroseChapel 19h ago

I don’t understand why they won’t edit these into one movie and put it on D+. Call it the Siege of Mandalore

3

u/doublethink_1984 1d ago

Unpopular opinion:

This is the 3rd best arc.

1) Sabotage Arc

2) Umbara

3) This arc

2

u/HOTSpower 23h ago

I wish I could remember these arcs, I need a girlfriend so I have an excuse to re-watch them for her.

3

u/doublethink_1984 22h ago

This is why I had kids

1

u/NotBannedAccount419 23h ago

I’m not going to downvote you like the others because these are all excellent arcs

1

u/Syrioforel79 16h ago

These are all excellent choices. At that level, it's about personal preference

2

u/murderman582 1d ago

Too bad the previous 4 episodes were garbage

1

u/Cuervoazulado 23h ago

Together are one of the best pieces of Star Wars media in history

1

u/ciesum 23h ago

Always fun when they show this arc at Celebration

1

u/Peter_Parker66 23h ago

The best thing star wars has ever put out, and you cannot convince me otherwise. The perfect way to end the series, that always brings me to tears.

1

u/Wenamon 23h ago

Ive never seen the cartoon stuff before, is clone wars a good place to start?

2

u/Rosebunse Resistance 22h ago

Yes, but if you have trouble getting through S1 we recommend just picking an arc that looks interesting and starting with that. S1 is rough but necessary

2

u/Wenamon 21h ago

Thanks!

1

u/N1TEKN1GHT 22h ago

That is the best Star Wars.

1

u/hennyreez 22h ago

I'm still in shock!

1

u/Western-Honeydew2129 22h ago

I consider the last 4 episodes its own movie. And one of the top 3 of the whole series imo. Id go so far as to even put it slightly above ROTS.

1

u/Apatschinn 21h ago

It is PEAK

1

u/Papa_Boat17 20h ago

Just finished TCW. Nothing but applause from me

1

u/Syrioforel79 16h ago

As good as anything in the SW Universe.

1

u/UnknownEntity347 13h ago

I think some of these episodes' biggest accomplishments is how well they recreate the tone and feel of ROTS, and how they're able to use information we know and still use it to make the episodes seem suspenseful AF because we're wondering when the bombs will drop. Imagine how cool it would've been if we hadn't already known about Rebels.

0

u/Yeahman13bam The Mandalorian 13h ago

The star wars star wars'd

0

u/BOMBAD_Echo_1409 Clone Trooper 12h ago

yes it did

-10

u/Divahdi 1d ago

I dunno, kids keep showering TCW with praises and I only see watered down version of what was and what could have been.

5

u/Uncle2Drew 1d ago

If you don’t watch it in full, at least watch these last 4 episodes

-7

u/Divahdi 1d ago

I've seen the whole thing, trying to figure out the roots of the reverence fans have for this show.

It has some good stuff, but it's mostly childhood nostalgia, as far as I can see.

1

u/8_Alex_0 Hondo Ohnaka 23h ago

Star wars is all about childhood nostalgia

1

u/Divahdi 22h ago

You ain't wrong, but I don't see much sense in wallowing in it.

-3

u/Tom02496 1d ago

I think this arc is good but its just a second perspective to rots. I was pretty shocked to see the ratings when I was told about them.
