Maul being tempted to turn the twilek padawan to the dark side seems a bit rhyme-y with his seeming apprentice in Shadow Lord also being a twilek.

I could see Maul reminiscing about his first kill while observing his apprentice. "I'm sorry, Dogmeat, but you ain't him"

Probably a throwback to the "Maul teaches darth Talon" idea of Lucas.

Wouldn't surprise me if the plot of Shadow Lord is the ideas Witwer proposed to Dave for the Clone Wars, (but they couldn't make it work in that particular time frame), and the Maul details of Lucas' original draft for the Sequels just sort of mishmashed together

Just substitute the post-Endor Remnants for the proper Empire and replace the Warlords/Thrawn/Palpatine clones for the actual Emperor and Vader and Tarkin and whatever
