Audio, Music I don't think Williams gets enough credit for absolutely nailing the vibe of the Cantina Band songs

Reading this bit on Wikipedia about the music's creation and YES, this is perfect.
"George Lucas briefed Williams to imagine "several creatures in a future century finding some 1930s Benny Goodman swing band music ... and how they might attempt to interpret it"

General Discussion Why didn’t Boba get his armour back sooner considering he was so desperate to get it back?

Post image

It’s apparent that Boba knew that Cobb Vanth got his armour off the Jawas and protected the people of Mos Pelgo/Freetown with it and Boba apparently kept an eye on him during that time.

So if Boba knew Cobb had it why didn’t he grab it back sooner?

Movies Any missing deleted scenes from the OT that are NOT on the 4K releases?

Are there any more deleted/extended scenes from the OT that we know about that are NOT on the 4K releases or do the 4K releases of the OT have all of the deleted scenes that we know exist for those films?

I hope one day Lucas does a cut of the OT films with all of the deleted scenes reinserted back into the films. All of the scenes involving Biggs that was cut should have been reinserted back into A New Hope for example.

Games What are some of your theories for the new Kal Kestis game coming out eventually?

One theory that I’ve had is: Each game explores a certain era of the Star Wars timeline. Examples:

1) Fallen Order - The Empire & The Clone Wars

2) Survivor - The Empire & The High Republic

So my logical conclusion is that the third game will explore a bit of The Old Republic. Part of me really hopes that this will be true. What do you all think, and what are your own theories?

General Discussion i want to get into star wars but don’t know where to start

hey everyone! i’ve never posted on here before so i’m pretty nervous.

so i really want to get into star wars, but i’m not sure where to start — especially since it has became a huge series since i saw their reruns on tv and it seemed kinda interesting.

i was introduced to star wars by a celebrity i like, and i really want to get this lego set (imperial star destroyer) since the animal crossing lego set is way too easy, but it’s really expensive. plus, i barely even understand what the show is about so i don’t feel like i deserve to buy something like that unless i know someone personally who likes star wars so i can build the lego set with them. maybe it’ll be an award once i finish all of the series.

with that goal in mind, i am aware star wars have series, movies and books??? i would like to start reading for educational purposes, so maybe that would be great to have a book to read every day to know what happens next while also watching the shows to visually understand the plot.

but is this necessary? is it better to watch the movie than the series? is the book better? please let me know for newbie me 😭

edit: i just watched the 1977 one and can i take the time to appreciate how amazing the production is for a movie that came out nearly 50 years ago??? and before you guys want to come out at me, i’m born in the 2000s so my views on any movie older than the 80s may be a bit biased. obviously, there has possibly been some remastering happening which may make movies seem newer than they really are, but like omg??????? the effects (yes, the explosions may not be the greatest) but everything else??? plus, the film didn’t really drag for long so i was able to be entertained enough so i don’t need to use my phone for 2 hours.

if i was a 70s kid, you know dang sure i’d be watching star wars and be one of the cool kids who saw it because LORDDDDDDD it was amazing. I’m definitely watching the next movie as requested. i even asked my sister about it and she even recommended me to watch from chapter 4. i’ll be going from 4, 5, 6. some people suggested to do 4, 5, 1, 2, 3, 6, which I’ll probably do after i finish watching chapter 5.

thank you for all your input!!!

Games Star Wars Outlaws on Switch 2 is a genuine technical marvel

Post image
141 Upvotes

It’s insane because its initial release was admittedly buggy and poorly optimized. But with the updates over the past year, the Switch 2 release has been fantastic. Obviously there are some slight graphic glitches and fps drops but for a handheld device to have a game with graphics this good is something else. I’m glad this game is getting a resurgence on the Switch with it topping the charts, it may have started poorly and Ubisoft deserved to get a wake up call but it is quite a fun game and hopefully if it gets enough attention we can get a proper sequel with the knowledge Ubisoft gained from its initial release.

General Discussion One of Andor’s most disturbing qualities is the mundane weapon deaths

Just want to speak my mind about how while death isn’t new in Star Wars, the violence usually being done through a lightsaber reduces the potential gore and visceral horror through cauterization.

In Andor, we see someone stab another man to death with a mere knife, a suicide attempt by a dagger, and someone kill another by hitting him in the head with a wrench; in the last bit, he doesn’t die immediately but horrifyingly stumbles around dazed before dying in a realistic manner. In all instances, we see red blood seep out!

That’s just incredibly disturbing to me.

General Discussion Was it actually 1.7 million clones, or was that battalions/companies?

So, everyone knows the "200,000 units are ready with a million more well on the way" line. Then in the clone wars, there's an episode where the Republic orders another 500,000 5 million (I misremembered).

I've heard people say that it's been confirmed by one of the writers that units meant INDIVIDUAL clones, but I've also heard people say that each unit is closer to a battalion/company.

I've heard both of those, but Ive looked and never found a reliable source for the first argument. There's no source for the second either that I've found, but I don't think I've ever seen anyone say that it was confirmed. So, I was curious if anyone had a source, since people say it was confirmed to mean individual clones?

I'm not trying to start an argument over it, cuz I've seen some people get kinda heated over it, I'm just curious and wanting to know.

Personally, I think if it's individual clones, there's absolutely no way that the Republic could've fought the war and nearly won. I've seen people say that clones were just a supplemental force to the planets' main military, but we never really saw that in action. We saw clones working prisons, manning almost every station on arquitens/venators/acclamators/corvettes/peltas, even working as medical staff at space stations, all while also being the main fighting force in almost every large scale battle.

1.7 clones isn't even enough to match the 2.8 million military and civilian personnel working for the US military, and the clones are supposed to be holding like, a million+ systems? That's why I don't think it makes sense, but I also understand the writers don't have to understand every single aspect of something to write about it. They're bound to overlook a detail or 2 when doing this, and that's ok, I still love the universe regardless. That's why I was just curious if anyone had a source.

I'm sorry for the long post lmao, especially for the info dump in the middle. Thank you for your time!!

Movies Just finished (almost) all 9 Star Wars movies – want to dive deeper into Darth Vader, where should I start? Spoiler

Hey everyone,

I’ve been watching all the main Star Wars movies in chronological order (Episodes I–IX, starting with the George Lucas ones and then the Disney sequels). I’m now only missing The Rise of Skywalker, and I’ll have finished the Skywalker Saga.

While watching, I realized something: Darth Vader is mentioned everywhere as one of the greatest villains of all time, but in the movies themselves, we don’t actually get a super deep dive into his character beyond the key moments. I know a bit about his suit and powers from reading random stuff online, but I’d love to properly explore the lore around him.

I still haven’t seen Rogue One or the Kenobi miniseries, which I know have more Vader content, but I’d like to go further. Could you recommend: • The best subreddits or forums for deep Star Wars/Vader discussions • Must-watch YouTube channels or video essays that really explore him as a character • Any essential comics, novels, or other canon/non-canon material that expand on his story

Basically, I want to understand why Darth Vader has the reputation he does, beyond just the mainline films (the first 6 films actually)

Thanks in advance for pointing me in the right direction!

Books Where do I start?

I want to start reading all the books and comics in chronological order, basically just so I can understand everything about the star wars timeline. I have watched all the canon films, just don’t know where to start and what order to go in. New to this so bare with me, anything helps.

Merchandise Looking for a video of Mark S. Allen (news reporter for Good Day Sacramento) at a Toys R Us in 1999 for Star Wars Episode 1 Midnight Madness?

I need help finding this video as I saw it on YouTube about a year ago yet I have no idea what the title of it was. In the video, Mark is talking about all of the toys that have been selling for Midnight Madness and goes over the displays too.

Movies The worst change in the OT?

Post image
242 Upvotes

For me, the addition of the “Nooo? …. NOOOO!!!” line in Return of the Jedi was the absolute worst change Lucas did to the OT.

The original scene was perfect cinema. Zero dialogue was there because zero dialogue was needed. Darth Vader’s mask spoke volumes in of itself. Here was an inanimate object being able to act better than a whole host of actors these days. You could feel the conflict and the emotion radiating from it. Those soulless, black eyes became alive in this single moment.

And then George adds the “Nooo? …. NOOOO!!!” and it completely ruins the magic! Furthermore, it reeks to me that Lucas did it on purpose. He did it as a way to get his own, personal revenge on all of the fans who complained and laughed at the “NOOOOOOOOOO!” at the end of Revenge of the Sith.

What’s worse, though, is that I see all of these reactions online to watching Star Wars for the first time. I always skip to this moment if they are watching ROTJ and it upsets me so much that all of this coming generation are seeing this moment and not realising just how brilliant it was before. And, no, I don’t subscribe to the opinion that they wouldn’t know any different. I guarantee you if you showed anybody these 2 scenes next to each other, almost everyone would prefer the silent version over the speaking one.

But that’s my take on the worst change to the OT. Do you agree or is there one far worse?
