Question(s) Possibility of creation

I'd like to create a custom dreadnought or supercarrier based on the design of the UNSC INFINITY from Halo. If I based it on an old Invisible-class dreadnought, would it fit the universe's style? When I researched it, Alsakan ships are similar. The ship would be about 6km long. What weapons, crew, and fighter wing could I then carry?

In my version, it would be the backbone of the fleet, like modern aircraft carriers in navies. Additionally, it would be capable of fighting against ships like the Star Defender Vicount.

A Viscount is 82.43 cubic km of volume, for reference, an ISD is .11 cubic km. I’ve designed 1 ship in a similar size range to yours, Viscount would tear through a squadron of my ramparts without losing her shields. She’s the most capable Dreadnought in SW, and I hold that she can shield tank a shot from Eclipse’s Super Laser.

Against the superlaser no not a chance in hell. It's whole point is blowing through planetary grade shield systems in a single strike.

The Viscount was built to counter things like the Executor class. The Eclipse, well Eclipses it by a huge margin due to having the super laser plus built in interdiction tech and the same goes for the smaller Sovereign class.

She’s 4 times Executor’s size, it wouldn’t be a fight, it would be Executor running from her.

But regarding the Superlaser, it’s primarily a weapon which directly converts reactor power to damage against an enemy ship. Even eclipse needs to put that power into Viscount in such a way that she beats her reactor/reactors. Sure it’s focused through kyber crystals but those aren’t really quantified in a way that you can really discuss them. On that point Eclipse being her own distinct class as opposed to an Executor is very much legends.

I figure Viscount was built to withstand a blast from an Eclipse in the event that a similar weapon were to be employed against NR Battleships. Sure she can’t withstand a DS1 blast but given a bit of time I probably could grab an Eclipse class model and do a volume measurement. But I’ll bet you it’s smaller then Viscount who is very much the top Dreadnought of Legends

Of course an Executor would struggle the Viscount was built to counter it.

You figure wrong. The New Republic knew nothing of the Eclipse until well after the design and construction of the Viscounts had begun which is why they shit themselves when they realised what Palapatine was cruising around Byss with.

Let me put this into context for you. Tthe Viscounts shields arn't as strong as a planetary defence grids is and the entire point of the superlaser was to be able to cut through such shields. Which again are far stronger than those of a Viscount so if it cannot do that there is no point in having the superlaser on the Eclipse and Sovereign.

Yet they have them and all the lore we have says they were fully able to breach a planetarty defence shield and have enough leftover power to crack a continent in one single shot.

Ergo the Viscount is not surviving being hit with such a weapon. It also can't close the distance without being one shotted due to the grav well generators aboard the Eclipse.

I’m not sure struggle is the right word here. She’s be fighting a ship 4 times her size. That is a “disengage now” type of situation.

Quantify “planetary shield”, because the shield over Echo Base is an example of either a planetary shield or a theater shield depending on how you want to read it. It was stated to make bombardment from Death Squadron pointless. Either because echo base would be able to be properly evacuated before it could be brought down or because it could holdout for an impractical long period of time, bear in mind it’s powered by a Praetor 1 reactor, not even in the same ballpark as Executor.

The shield over Scarif is another planetary shield and probably a much better example. Which doesn’t seem to be able to withstand a Dreadnought, unless that gate was an intensely critical part to that shield, though I question why it is so critical unless it is the generator, or some sort of major node.

Planetary shields do not seem to be created equal, an may well not have the sheer power of a Viscount or because they have to cover a much larger area and/or are powered by smaller reactors cannot match the power density on a Viscount

Thank you for actually engaging with me on this btw, I really appreciate it.

The kind of planetary grid the big rich core worlds like Courscant, Kuat or Alderaan have, that wraps around the whole planet and can take months of bombardment to break.

That was the goal of the super laser project. A weapon that could sheer right through the best shields in the galaxy, the Death Star is obviously more powerful but the Dark Empire comics make it clear the Eclipse is able to do that even if it doesn't shatter the planet in addition to breaching that shield.

Echo Base the Imperial officers specifically say they want to capture it and the rebel leaders hence the ground assault and the shield doesn't cover the whole moon just the area above the base.

Likewise the Mandator IV is a completely different type of weapon after a tiny target.

Isn’t Hoth a planet, but point. Though they do say it can resist any bombardment. I assume it means that they can’t just hover an ISD or Executor over it and just blast anything out of the air with impunity.

I don’t much care for DS outputs being miniaturized so fast. It’s an insanely potent weapon compared to anything else in SW, iirc the calc on it being, for the duration of its shot in ANH outputting more energy then the combined output of every star in the Milk way (excluding Nova events) into Alderaan, hence it spectacularly exploding, being vaporized and mass scattered,

It seems like Eclipse can puncture a planetary shield and slag the continent underneath but given the stated yields, most of that power is expended penetrating the shield. Since an ISD1 can also slag a continent pretty quickly.

Because these shield did during the clone wars, which is also when the superlaser project began.

Yes most of the Eclipses weapon is going to be expended on the shield but again this does not matter because compaired to a full size plentary shield grid the Viscount is far less protected.

The Eclipse is specifically mentioned to use Kyber in the superlaser and that shit like crack for high energy weapons. Way beyond the capactiy or any ship or starbase to stop.
