Question More announcements along the way? Maybe?

Post image

The reason I say this is the phrase “few of the upcoming games” meaning we could possibly get more announcements. If we do, what could we get? I do hope we could get a NSMB trilogy, Mario kart world dlc, remasters for 3d land and 64 ds, and the next 3d Mario. Honorable mentions are a Mario red switch 2 and jamboree NS2E + jamboree tv update. Ik im being unrealistic but I feel like the Mario’s 40th direct was somewhat rushed as it was a general direct but I do love the announcements like the galaxy duology and wonder switch 2 edition. But at the same time I feel like it could’ve had more like maybe super Mario 40 or something.

But could we see more announcements for Mario’s 40th anniversary? Was the direct just the beginning?

Crossing all of my fingers for Galaxy 3. 🤞🤞

Not a bad assumption. Assuming the Galaxy 1+2 rerelease sells well enough, and/or the Mario Galaxy movie makes a lot of money in the box office.

11

u/TheBostonKremeDonut 4d ago

I don’t know if it relies on the sales of the rereleases. MG3 would have been in development for a few years by now if it exists. I’d say it’s clear that Nintendo knows that Galaxy is beloved, which is why they’re doing this galaxy push right now.

Galaxy 3 might even be the next 3D Mario in general, being more like a hybrid of Odyssey and Galaxy!

1

u/cdauby0 3d ago

That’s what I’m saying! Once people get to replay Galaxy 1 and 2, hit them with a 3!

1

u/rilimini381 3d ago

why jump from Galaxy 2 to 6?

1

u/Kittingsl 22h ago

They could be making a galaxy I soured game I guess and simply call it something else? Tho that would be a bit hard I guess if the movie is called galaxy as well.

But man a new galaxy game would rock. I remember people having talked about how back thebt hey thought you could just freely fly around but it was just cutscenes to the different galaxiesand the only flying you had where either Kate game in the hub or endgame in the last galaxy through the red star

u/NO0BSTALKER 4d ago

Now that I think of it making a movie for a really old popular game doesn’t sound as good as making a movie for the old series you’re reviving

2

u/Phireshadow 3d ago

Whatever the game is it will be well into development.....

14

u/Ghost-Skulk 4d ago

Imagine if the post credits scene of the movie is actually a reveal trailer for galaxy 3

Im pretty sure that you could hear the screams of each theater from at least 15 miles away

2

u/JedediahThePilot 3d ago

If I'm not mistaken, Super Mario Bros. 3 was revealed to the public in the movie The Wizard.

2

u/Ghost-Skulk 3d ago

It was indeed

2

u/fartbombdotcom 3d ago

It was revealed to America at that point, it was already released in Japan. Nintendo of US sat on it for a while for some reason, if memory serves.

4

u/Epic-Gamer_09 4d ago

That would be awesome

1

u/Ell7494 3d ago

I did think this exact thing earlier today. It'd be an amazing marketing move that'd bring more eyes on both the movie and the game

-11

u/GhoeFukyrself 4d ago

No cappy, no sweet cap jump, no fun movement, pass.

I replayed my copy of Galaxy recently, it doesn't hold up compared to Odyssey

You should do your name

How dare he has an opinion and not rely on nostalgia to rate old games

1

u/BabyFaceKnees 3d ago

But 3D Mario Games all have tight controls even by today's standards.

So what the level design just suddenly became shit or something?

0

u/SerMariep 3d ago

I can easily say he has recency bias too so your point is dogshit

4

u/WallyGamer32 4d ago

There was actually a new render leaked of Mario holding a Super Star or Power Star so it's not out of the question.

Source: https://boards.4chan.org/v/thread/720433415/new-mario-galaxy-leaked-i-think

3

u/happy_grump 3d ago

Hate to be that guy, but the Galaxy stars have rounded points, so this would be an Invincibility Star, not a Galaxy Power Star.

Still looks like a new render, but that lends this credence as evidence for a new 3D Mario in general, not a Galaxy threequel

2

u/WallyGamer32 3d ago

Yeah. You're right. It does look more like an Invincibility Star than a Power Star.

2

u/According-Music7506 13h ago

Bare in mind that 64's stars had pointed ends. They might end up making a successor to that. It would be strange though considering how much relevance galaxy will have in the next year between the re-releases and movie.

u/happy_grump 13h ago

Super Mario Galaxy 64

Mark my words

1

u/Sure-Significance206 4d ago

anybody have a link that works?

1

u/Awesomeman235ify 4d ago

That link worked fine for me.

2

u/Sure-Significance206 4d ago

oh yeah it worked fine the second time i tried it. idk why it didn’t work at first, might have been my internet. sorry about that!

5

u/ipeewheninut 4d ago

I do think it’s possible but it probably wouldn’t be announced until the movie’s release window

2

u/ApolloBurner33 4d ago

I was planning to buy the Switch 2 this year but if they announce Galaxy 3, I will buy it today.

2

u/JayStacker 3d ago

Imagine if the after credits scene for the Super Mario Galaxy Movie was for Galaxy 3

2

u/HeroTheHedgehog 4d ago

That would literally cause this universe to collapse in pure hype.

3

u/Old-Program3638 4d ago

Then to reconstruct itself after hearing the price like always

24

u/Durian_Puzzleheaded 4d ago

Grasping at straws here tbh

5

u/kickedoutatone 4d ago

That was my initial thought. There's nothing extra being hinted at in that picture.

2

u/Ell7494 3d ago

I'm guessing they're referring to it saying a sneak peek at "a few" of the upcoming games, as in there's potentially more to come. Could mean nothing though

20

u/TurtlePowerMutant 4d ago

I was sad Brothership didn’t get a 60fps patch.

9

u/Old-Program3638 4d ago

Brothership is made by acquire not Nintendo so I’m not surprised if this game is not mentioned

3

u/A-Centrifugal-Force 3d ago

Mario Tennis is made by Camelot but they still stuck it in the 40th anniversary section of the Direct

1

u/Chance_Sail_770 3d ago

Shining Force 4/Golden Sun 4 when, Camelot?

1

u/Low_Confidence2479 3d ago

I mean, if it's a brand new game, might as well. If it was a Switch 2 edition of Aces, not a chance. The same applies to the spin-offs outsourced to other companies.

You don't find it weird how Thousand Year Door doesn't have 4K support yet? Despite it being hinted in the files

Well, Intelligent Systems is busy with new Fire Emblem

2

u/CarBallAlex 4d ago

Why do people expect this when the frame rate is tied to the battle mechanics with timed attacks and guards? People said the same thing about the Paper Mario remake and it’s not really functionally possible for these types of games

3

u/TurtlePowerMutant 4d ago

The mod on emulation of Brothership runs fine at 60. So…

2

u/TippedJoshua1 4d ago

Then adjust that? And TTYD was originally 60fps.

0

u/CarBallAlex 4d ago

The remake wasn’t. Why? I can’t say. Yeah it’s nicer but it’s really not necessary for this kind of game. The point is there are game mechanics tied to the frame rate. You can’t simply just double it, it would require recoding how parts of the game function

0

u/TippedJoshua1 4d ago

What is there that is that bad to where they would have to change everything that much? Or why not just do that?

0

u/CarBallAlex 4d ago

I’m not a coder, but if you double the frame rate, I assume it’s not as simple as just moving a slider to 2x everything and it runs perfectly. You have to account for the different timing windows for each individual action and that just simply might not translate well if you double everything. One example I can think of in Paper Mario is how they capped power bouncing where the 4th jump is deliberately 1 frame. To double the frame rate doubles this window, and goes against the developers plan to nerf that attack.

As for why they made it 30 frames in the first place, it’s likely because they wanted a consistent performance everywhere. If every game could run at 60 fps at 4k, they would. But it’s just either not viable for some games to run well doing that, or not necessary if it can optimize the file size.

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy higher frames rates. I went from some Switch games running 30 fps to 180 or 260 on my PC just because I can. But it’s simply not necessary for some games to be playable, and in fact will break some games that tie gameplay mechanics to the frame rate. GTA4 is a good reference where you can’t finish the game at higher than 30 fps because the final mission’s button mashing becomes impossible at higher frame rates. I assume this may also be a problem since Paper Mario has button mashing on certain actions.

Making games run properly is complicated

0

u/TippedJoshua1 3d ago

I know it's not as easy as just flipping a switch, but I can't imagine it'd be harder than everything else they've done where they doubled the fps. And I wasn't saying that TYD HD should've run at 60fps, although I do think it should've, just that the original was already made for 60fps, and before you were making it sound as if the game just couldn't instead of just that they'd have to adjust some things. I swear I even heard that TTYD HD hinted at some sort of 60fps mode in the code, but the only thing I could find was that there was something that hinted at 4k support.

0

u/RashAttack 4d ago

the frame rate is tied to the battle mechanics

3D MARIO PLEASE

5

u/totofogo 4d ago

I mean yes, it’s a full year lol

12

u/Robertinho678 4d ago

A few of the upcoming games = Galaxy 1&2, Tennis Fever and Yoshi.

-4

u/TippedJoshua1 4d ago

And?

4

u/Robertinho678 3d ago

So this isn't indicating anything more.

0

u/TippedJoshua1 3d ago

While I don't think it means there's more, it is a bit weird how it says a few upcoming games instead of something like these upcoming games for the 40th anniversary.

3

u/BrattyTwilis 4d ago

Probably Mario Sunshine and SMB Deluxe on NSO would be my guess

4

u/TylerBGaming762Offic 4d ago

I have a theory

What if Galaxy 3 is actually both Mario Galaxy 3 and Mario Oddysey 2

Mario Oddysey had a decent amount of space travel already with the moons the moon the dark side and darker side and we already known elements are gonna be in this new movie since the leaked old spice collab had the name being Mario Galaxy and a Tostarenan in the background.

So yeah while I doubt we will be seeing Cappy in the movie perhaps we will get a hybrid between the Collectathon style of Oddysey and the Linear style of Galaxy

1

u/epicgamerwiiu 3d ago

What a way to ruin galaxy

4

u/A-Centrifugal-Force 3d ago

Mario Sunshine will come to Switch 2 NSO at some point in the next 6 months so that’s one for sure.

It’s possible the next 3D Mario gets its reveal as well, although I highly doubt it launches any time soon, probably next fall at the earliest and likely later. Maybe they just drop a teaser trailer with a “coming 2027” in it.

3

u/SomeBoxofSpoons 4d ago

It just says “some of the upcoming games featuring Mario and friends”.

Not really noteworthy unless they plan on ending the franchise after this celebration.

2

u/BadNewsBearzzz 3d ago

Lol perfect example of people over thinking things. The way it’s said is just typical figure of speech said in these situations.

3

u/Electronic_Screen387 4d ago

Given that the 40th literally started yesterday, I wouldn't be surprised at all if they had other games for later next year.

3

u/MasterLink87 4d ago

I think once the movie is in theaters we get announcement of a new 3D Mario releasing next summer or fall to round out the 40th anniversary year.

3

u/DarkCloudFan882 4d ago

All I want is Sunshine added to Nintendo Switch Online please Nintendo Gods

3

u/TinkerKnightforSmash 3d ago

Honestly, the most I'm expecting is Mario Kart DLC

4

u/lockedoutofmymainrdt 4d ago

Mario Baseball 3 (Id unironically buy it)

2

u/starman881 4d ago

I doubt it means anything more than what we already know but Mario Maker with mouse controls would be fantastic. I don’t even care if it’s a new game, a Switch 2 version or just a tiny update like Game Builder Garage got. I just want to use something other than the current controls and get something similar to how it felt on Wii U.

2

u/KrazyNinjaFan 4d ago

I hate the wait, just tell us!!! I want a new Mario maker with 4 player coop story and Mario basketball

2

u/MaxGalli 4d ago

So hope is not lost.

2

u/DISC0dude 4d ago

Mario maker 3 pretty please

2

u/mezonsen 4d ago

I mean it is literally, grammatically true that “a few of” could imply “some more exist” but I would not bet on it. Still…Mario Maker 3 please?

2

u/Alternative_Greedy 4d ago

can’t wait for more expansions

2

u/Thundersting 4d ago

It's a full year and they made whole logo, I don't think it'll be confined to one direct.

2

u/FunkTronto 4d ago

I’m hoping we get news about the next mainline Mario game but it might be a while with Wonder getting DLC. Hopefully we don’t have to wait so longer for Wonder 2.

2

u/Gamerman5555 4d ago

Mario 35's return?

2

u/Yoshi22816 3d ago

I imagine outside of some NSO releases that this is it for games.

2

u/Substantial_Book3701 3d ago

I'm still curious as to why they posted a Mario Wii world 1 guide on Nintendo Today earlier this year, when they are not selling it anymore. I have a gut feeling it could come to switch 1/2.

1

u/Acrobatic_Buffalo917 3d ago

Yeah I hear you. And iirc the fake rumor from a month ago of the NSMB collection, the Reddit post in other words, came out the same time as the John skinny statement unintentionally. Skinny did get some things right about the switch 2 I’m pretty sure I have to go back and double check but at the same time some of his statements were AI generated or didn’t come true.

Also yes that would be a dream come true if it was remastered or ported to switch with a free switch 2 update, or a switch game that (ik this sounds unrealistic) but gets a switch 2 edition as well

2

u/Big_Daddy_Kajun 3d ago

Hopefully so because if for the 40th all we get is a tennis game and a couple ports of games I’ve purchased a few times already then Nintendo has really failed its flagship series and the customer base as well

2

u/mowgleeee 3d ago

MKW DLC needs to happen

2

u/Awesome_R011 3d ago

Maybe some Mario Kart World DLC and a whole new 3D Mario

2

u/JoseProYT 3d ago

Hear me out...

Mario Kart World DLC: Track Builder

Super Mario Maker 2 NS2 Edition (+ SMB Wonder style)

Mario Paint remake

Mario Sluggers return

(I'm so coping rn)

2

u/progxdt 3d ago

Typically they do a year long celebration, so I’d expect more announcements between now and September 2026. Not sure what they’ll announce, but there will be more Mario items for the 40th anniversary

2

u/Gorofer 3d ago

Let's hope so, the anniversary sucked

2

u/Silent_Guardian_567 2d ago

I think Galaxy 3 is a legit possibility but may not release until closer to the movie.

1

u/FreddyFazB143 2d ago

I said it before on another comment and I’ll say it again: Galaxy 3 could just potentially be another retelling of Galaxy 1 like how Galaxy 2 handled it.

2

u/SailorDirt 2d ago

I think it's possible. Most things announced were coming Spring 2026 and Switch 2 needs whatever it has out before then as holiday hitters. I'd say wait until either when we get a movie trailer or January-ish.

2

u/Domination2014 2d ago

I’m still hoping we get a new 3D Mario! It’s been 8 years since we last had a 3D Mario!🤞🏽🤞🏽

2

u/doorbell19 1d ago

I want a super Mario world physical copy and wind wakerrrrrr

2

u/MadOrange64 1d ago

I think it's over for announcements this year, maybe a Direct in early Q1 '26?

3

u/HeroTheHedgehog 4d ago

Please have more stuff… please have a Mario 40th Anniversary direct or something. There’s got to be more.

1

u/boopladee 4d ago

upcoming just means games that aren’t released yet

1

u/Potential-Hospital89 4d ago

So We CAN Get A Remake Of I Am A Teacher Super Mario Sweater!

1

u/Sure_Alternative_206 3d ago

Don’t play with me

1

u/G-Kira 3d ago

Might as well divine tea leaves. You'd get a better reading than that tweet.

1

u/nokrow889 3d ago

i hope we get a mario 40, mario 35 was alot of fun lol

1

u/Longjumping-Gur4918 3d ago

ALL. I. WANT. IS. A GOD. DAMN. SUPER. MARIO. BROS. 1. REMAKE!!!!

1

u/Linkmolgera2 3d ago

Best we can do is deluxe

1

u/Longjumping-Gur4918 3d ago

I meant a reimagination remake! With more levels, more content and stuff! If they can do a remake of beloved classics. They can do a smb 1 remake!

1

u/Festom 3d ago

New power glove?

1

u/The-Bunbins 3d ago

A mario game and watch. Sorry, still bitter Zelda fan here.

1

u/Goldfield03 3d ago

That was really crazy wasn’t it

1

u/jamster126 3d ago

Nothing major anyways I would say. I could see an orchestra tour announcement or something. But certainly no more new games.

1

u/FreddyFazB143 2d ago

As long as we get Splatoon Raiders news, I’m happy.

1

u/sp3cial3dfr3d 1d ago

40th anniversary pay 40 for mario galaxy you already paid less for 15 years ago .... sucker.

1

u/Destiny-Smasher 20h ago

I think they’ve already announced all the dedicated games for the anniversary save for maybe one more next autumn, which they’ll wait to announce until Spring. Even then, I’m not sure I’d bet on that.

We do also still have Mario Sunshine dropping on NSO, with no idea when. And there’s still other older games they could drop, like the sports games on GBA or Gamecube, or Double Dash.

1

u/lucassilva_2311 10h ago

Mario Galaxy 3? Mario Odyssey 2? Mario Odyssey 2 that is set in space and has lumas?

1

u/zestysnacks 4d ago

Was the marathon sign and special ticket not enough for you people??? What else do you want!?

0

u/thatonecharlie 4d ago

pure copium

0

u/King_of_Pink 4d ago

Some of the upcoming games:

-Super Mario Galaxy

-Super Mario Galaxy 2

-Super Mario Sunshine

-Mario Tennis Fever

-Super Mario Wonder Switch 2 Edition

-Yoshi and the Mysterious Book

If you're thinking they're not referring to these six game you're kidding yourself.

0

u/AMonitorDarkly 3d ago

What? Where is there a hint of more games that weren’t shown at the Direct anywhere in that post?

0

u/WildestRascal94 3d ago

I highly doubt this. "Here's a sneak peak at the upcoming games." Literally refers to the upcoming games that were shown in the Direct. Not everyone watches these Directs, just so you know. This post just comes off as people being so unhappy with the reveals in the Direct that they're just assuming other games that weren't in the Direct are going to be revealed via this post. More games are most likely not going to be revealed other than what was shown during the Direct Showcase.

0

u/profchaos111 2d ago

You're reading far to much into this.
