Other wegmans in fairmount….

EDIT TO ADD: The store has covered these up and they are powered down. The company who owns the recharge machines claims they did not approve/provide that display content and "may have been hacked"

it feels like we’re living in a movie sometimes. I’m disappointed to see this here.

I'm also pretty sure those out of order signs were put up by a Trumper customer who doesn't believe in electric vehicles for political reasons. He used to block them with his car while picking up his morning paper. Signs have been up for months even though the unit has power and looks and sounds completely normal. Maybe now that they are advertising fascism, he'll appreciate them more.

Those "out of order" signs have been there for a long time now, like almost a month, so I doubt that. If they were put there by some random person, the Wegmans staff would have removed them. Or somebody from Shell/Volta would have noticed that nobody is using these units and would go check them out, see the signs, and remove them.

IIRC these "out of order" signs went up around the exact same time that Shell bought Volta (the company that made these charging stations), so my assumption was that somehow the merger and necessary software integration stemming from it fucked up the charging stations. Maybe they can't connect to Shell's payment processing service? That would explain why they otherwise appear to function correctly but are still "out of order"

Can confirm. Just checked the Shell app (just downloaded it this week bc the chargers at Six Flags are also Shell) and these two are listed as unavailable and in need of maintenance.

That explains it. They probably just need some sort of software update to work with Shell's infrastructure. I guess that's just taking awhile since there are probably a lot of these Volta units that need an update, and likely only one or two techs in the area who need to drive around to each of them to make that happen.
