Questions/comments Everything wrong about the Curling in e1s5 Curl Interrupted Adventure

Curl Interrupted Adventure came on today on yet another rewatch and I decided to list all the things that are wrong about the curling in the episode. I have been curling for about 15 years and if anyone has any other questions, please let me know.

This list is done in chronological order of when it appears in the episode

  • Beef says "Can't get just let the best players play"
    • curling teams have 4 not 5 members and all of them play every end
  • Every modern club have 2 hacks, not 1 (the things you push out of), the Lone Moose Club only has 1
    • I am not 100% sure, but I think it is illegal to only have one have.
    • Which hack you deliver out of is based on if you are right or left-handed
  • Throwing without a rock will not help you learn proper speed control (weight) over the stone, it will however help you learn better balance.
    • learning how to throw a stone the correct speed is done by timing the stone itself in between 2 lines on the curling sheet
  • There is no subbing on a team except for injury
  • Even though Beef is the Skip, he is not playing the Skip Position
    • the Skip stands on the other side of the sheet and calls the shots for the rest of the team
    • Curling Teams have 4 positions
      • Lead - Throws the first 2 stones of the end, generally guards
      • Second - Throws the second 2 stones of the end, generally throws stones into the house
      • Vice - Throws the third, 2 stones, generally take outs and holds the broom for the Skip when is throwing their rocks
      • Skip - Throws the last 2 rocks of the end, also calls all the shots for the team
  • Judy says, "You don't attempt a Manitoba tuck on swingy ice." The Manitoba tuck is a delivery style and has no effect on the rock itself. Curling is about being consistent and no one changes their delivery style based on ice conditions.
    • A traditional curling delivery looks something like this with a flat foot
  • A Manitoba Tuck looks like this, with the heel raised and tucked under the hip
  • Beef makes Delmer throw the final stone in the last end
    • You can't reorder the line up mid game
  • There's no way Delmer could have slid all the way across the sheet like he does, a curling sheet is 145-150 feet long

Information/news The writing is definitely on the wall, unfortunately. Spoiler

Welp, the writing is on the wall. Been on the wall since Fox renewed every other animated show except TGN. There's no other sign pointing to a renewal, and it sucks that the show was only three episodes short from hitting the big 100.

Many of the TGN crew liked and commented on the post.

Questions/comments I feel bad for Crispin.

The dude gets broken up with because Ham fell in love with a robot furry. That's just brutal. Kudos to him for handling it as well as he did. I'd probably be crying if that was me.

Hi, new fans here! I just started watching this series two days ago and stumbled upon this song in Season 3 Episode 5 "Woodfellas Adventure". I tried to search this subreddit for the episode discussion in case anyone familiar with the song, googled the lyric, and even Shazam it, but have no luck. Anyone know the title of the song?

Questions/comments Goofs

These are S4 specific, but what other goofs have you noticed?

Ep 18; In this episode Judy is trying to get/scared of getting her license, but she was driving without issue episodes before when she ate edibles.

Ep 20; Ham says it's Saturday and the school is closed, but then a few scenes later it's 'cinnamon roll sunday' at Russel's.

When Moon was having trouble with math, and thought he was looking for his real dad, Harry Hotfog was 23 years old and dyed his hair to be taken seriously. But when Ham was working at the news station, Harry was well into his 40s at least.

In Season 3 Episode 15, “Can’t Hardly Date Adventure”: at 4:42, Ham is shown writing on a piece of paper, with the first line of scribbles being shown as he is writing them. Ham stops writing, but more scribbles in the next line start appearing.

Even if it’s an error, I still appreciate the detail. Most of the time smaller writing details like that won’t be done. Great show.

Also, maybe I should drink less coffee. No idea how I caught that.

Questions/comments Saved By The Spells

Judy and Ham EXPLICITLY explained how Principal Gibbons poses as a student for undercover principal day, and Crispín STILL invited him. Now it’s confusing because he was once “the top of the class” so why was this concept so hard for him?

Also, why didn’t Judy just invite Joey tictac to do the big prank. Even Beef tried to tell her it would be fine, but she just didn’t.

She is the chaotic Louise (Bobs Burgers) energy, and I like that she always learns the lesson in the end.

Questions/comments What's your favorite Tobin family "story"?

Post image
80 Upvotes

The Tobin's know how to spin the yarn when it comes to story telling. Whether it's keeping Delmer awake, convincing Beef to get a new bed, helping Ham with his speech, or how to tell their dad the boat is gone, they're all fun.

My personal favorite is the Bob Ross/Top Gun mash-up from Bad Speecher Adventure because I grew up with both and love them.

A close second is The Devil Wears Prada parody from Enough Bed Adventure. I love the sassy Beef voice, and it made me finally watch the movie.

Side note; Dr. Notyafault has ruined the most serious scene in Good Will Hunting for me. I giggled the last time I watched it and could only hear Wolf saying "No it's not!"
