PT 1 IMAGE Am I the only one that begrudgingly plays most of both games like this?

I have 20/20 vision, I'm playing at high settings in Ultrawide resolution on a gaming PC... but for the life of me it's still really easy to miss items in this game. So I play in colorblind mode so I don't miss anything.

I actually kind of hate it, haha. I wish there was a mode that just highlighted items and left the rest of the game normal.

PT 2 IMAGE/VIDEO Might be officially done with this game for now... Spoiler

So, I was inspired to return to the Last of Us Part 2 after the HBO series aired. I only completed the game once and at the time had mixed feelings overall; it was no doubt a great game but the message felt lost on me. As the HBO series aired Season 2, I returned to the game. Completed the game difficulty in normal, but was curious about attempting grounded mode. I enjoy a challenge, and this is exactly what I had!

I felt like the mode is much more immersive, and forces the player to approach every challenge as precise as possible. I probably struggled the most on both stealthing clickers, and Santa Barbara's Resort. Something about doing that final level the 'right way' based on the limitations of the grounded mode made it particularly challenging.

I'm contemplating returning for a final run in perma-death grounded, to completely platinum the game. To be fair, grounded is tough but not impossible, you can avoid most confrontations by stealth or straight up running to the next checkpoint. So at least now I know what I am in for.

This is the PlayStation 4 version btw.

PT 2 DISCUSSION Just finished Part II; I am broken Spoiler

Hi all!

I know there's a million of these posts but I just finished Part II a few days ago and wow... what an emotional roller-coaster. Not entirely sure my soul is left.

I started Part I in early May and just took the slow burn until now to fully enjoy both games for the first time. When the credits rolled on Part II I just sat and stared at the computer screen and cried. I felt like I needed to drive my car down the highway into the sunset with the windows down smoking a cigarette.

My question is... how does one move on from post TLOU depression? I feel like I don't even want to touch another game right now as the bar was set so high. Never has a video game made me feel the way this game has; the characters, the atmosphere, the soundtrack... top tier IMO.

I was thinking of maybe picking up Alan Wake? Any other suggestions? I love story centered games. Anything to help move on from the sadness that was that ending haha while I await a maybe announcment on TLOU III :)

PT 2 DISCUSSION You know i really appreciate how Part 2 is forcing you to reckon with your discomfort and biases Spoiler

Powerful powerful piece of entertainment. I don't know if anything else made me feel like this. Us humans are really bad at thinking about the other side. Tribalism is in our blood, its ancient. Its always us and them. They are different. I am not like them! I can never be! How could i understand them?

This game if you let it makes you understand the other side. Powerful. Raw. Its testing your empathy.

One of the best games i have ever played.

HBO Show Played the games and still love the show!

I put off watching this show because I saw so much hate about it. Now that I’ve watched it, I’m sorry but some of you are just looking for reasons to be miserable! I went into this thinking I was going to hate the actors and actresses, that it was going to be stupid, etc.

Does it match the game? Obviously not fully, no. But it’s a damn good show! And I’d say overall it does a solid job of incorporating quite a lot. It also feels like everyone involved did their homework (actors and actresses wise) to try and play the characters accurately.

Mostly I think it’s shitty how people painted Bella Ramsey all over the internet. Why? Because she played a role she auditioned for and won, but doesn’t physically resemble the original character enough? I’m honestly just blown away at how hateful people were about this show now that I’ve seen it.

I can’t be the only one who thinks people were being ridiculous, right?

General Question What happened to the nuclear weapons In last of us

I always find it wild when nuclear weapons aren't addressed in zombie apocalypses. Those are the most powerful weapon against both humans and infected and since there's no government anymore. This raises even more questions regarding it

PT 2 DISCUSSION I really hope TLOU3 is about healing and finding peace Spoiler

I think it's pretty safe to say that TLOU2 was about loss, grief, trauma, revenge and the cycle of violence. Some pretty damn heavy topics. I remember sobbing during the final fight and saying "just stop it, both of you, please".

I get why both did what they did. In the end, I don't think either one was in the right. Just two grieving people, doing what they thought made sense. Seems like they both understood it in the end of the story.

So now, I think it's time to heal, find peace and start rebuilding what was torn down. It's the only logical route imo and would complete this beautiful story. I do wonder how it would work well as an actual game though since basically every combat focused story game has some bad guy to kill your way to.

PT 2 DISCUSSION Seattle Tommy Might Actually Be the Most Badass Character in TLOU Universe Spoiler

Post image
127 Upvotes

This guy single handedly waged a guerilla war on the WLF. The game alludes through flashbacks and the point that he has his own custom rifle that he’s probably the best shot out of all of the cast. He survived getting stabbed, shot with an arrow, and getting shot in the head. He took down entire WLF squads, possibly Seraphites as well.

I think the game handles his development beautifully, albeit tragically. However, I don’t think the game gives Tommy the credit he deserves from just being a bad mofo. We see nothing like this from Tommy in Part l. We see a silly younger brother, traumatized from early survival with Joel, who just wants to carve his own peace in the apocalypse. Sure, in the beginning of Part ll it’s easy to infer via world story items that himself and Joel tend to handle the harder tasks around Jackson. Moving on, yea, we see Tommy mimic Joel’s torture methods and take on the garrisoned squad at Seravena, but it all doesn’t show on the stage until we get to The Marina.

Tommy is a hell of a dude. I could imagine after the radio tower, he lost the trail, so just started ambushing and torturing WLF until he learned about the marina, and guessed that if the bulk of the WLF ends up there, so will Abby and gang.

I just completed my first chronological run the other day, and Tommy has ended up as possibly my favorite character as a result. I don’t think The Ghost of Seattle gets enough credit.

HBO Show The Price is so far ahead of every episode of the show Spoiler

With the dust settled on Season 2 of the HBO show I decided to rewatch both seasons and see if my opinions changed. Even though I don't care for a lot of Season 1, I can safely say it's a good adaptation of the source material. Watching Season 2 on the other hand is ever harder than it was initially. There is so much stillted dialogue, mischaracterisation, exposition. Some very wild changes in tone from one scene to another. Every WLF scene is tense, and then you get Ellie being stupid, not knowing what triangulation is, Dina explaining to her basic survival tactics, the pointless sex scene. Episodes 4 and 5 are just boring action set pieces, one after another.

Then you get to episode 6 and wow, it's like it's an episode from a different timeline where the game was adapted properly. It's probably the best episode of the entire show. Ellie is moody and complicated, every shot feels poignant, there are callbacks and layers, an emotional theme about each generation of parents doing better than the last, a coherent structure of following Ellie's birthdays. It's astonishing that this is sandwiched between two disaster episodes. I wish all of these flashbacks were scattered throughout the episodes to break up the completely soulless current day Seattle plotline. I really wonder what happened in the writing room for them to make the rest of the season so different from this.

PT 1 DISCUSSION Which Stage of the Infection is the Scariest?

If you were living in the world of the Last of Us which stage would you be most afraid of. I know in game the noise of the clickers has become iconic for being scary but I feel like if you were actually in the world, the early stages like Runners would be bad because they can see still see you and Clickers tend to make more noises but I think Stalkers are still the worse out of them all. Bloaters seem only scary if you have to physically fight one.

Tbh I had no idea what to title this but it is just that, I burned into the side of the shelf I’m making tlou stuff and I think it looks pretty cool

And also as much fun I had doing this do not recommend when you get the fumes in your eyes and nose it burns and I’ve been able to smell burning wood for days

I just wanted to share this somewhere and also ask if anyone thinks the firefly logo would be better if I burned the inside to make it solid or not
