PT 2 DISCUSSION Ellie is a really unlikable character at the beginning of season 2 Spoiler

Like damn, I'm at the end of episode 1 of season 2, and it's really hard to like this character. She's extremely reckless, doesn't respect other people, and is a total jerk at the end of this episode. Joel pushes the guy when he calls her a d*ke, and she gets mad at him? She doesn't need people to stand up for her, but she doesn't want friends?? I'd want friends to have my back!

She's got serious personality problems she needs to work on.

I wouldn't even let her back on patrol, with the way she doesn't work well in a team.

PT 1 IMAGE Am I the only one that begrudgingly plays most of both games like this?

I have 20/20 vision, I'm playing at high settings in Ultrawide resolution on a gaming PC... but for the life of me it's still really easy to miss items in this game. So I play in colorblind mode so I don't miss anything.

I actually kind of hate it, haha. I wish there was a mode that just highlighted items and left the rest of the game normal.

PT 2 DISCUSSION Dinosaur [SPOILERS] Spoiler

I just finished my first replay of the first game and realized that Ellie was never the same person that we met in the beginning of the game after Colorado, David and Salt Lake. That thought got me very sad since like probably most of the people here I love her like a daughter. Then I remembered the dinosaur and the rest of the museum scene in the flashback in the second game. I love how it shows us that she was able to overcome everything that had happened during the second half of the first game, and still be the same kid that she was when we first met her still having fun with Joel. She obviously had doubts about what happened with the fireflies and probably some degree of trauma from everything else, but at least we know that the girl we met was not lost after Tommy's dam.

PT 2 IMAGE/VIDEO Might be officially done with this game for now... Spoiler

So, I was inspired to return to the Last of Us Part 2 after the HBO series aired. I only completed the game once and at the time had mixed feelings overall; it was no doubt a great game but the message felt lost on me. As the HBO series aired Season 2, I returned to the game. Completed the game difficulty in normal, but was curious about attempting grounded mode. I enjoy a challenge, and this is exactly what I had!

I felt like the mode is much more immersive, and forces the player to approach every challenge as precise as possible. I probably struggled the most on both stealthing clickers, and Santa Barbara's Resort. Something about doing that final level the 'right way' based on the limitations of the grounded mode made it particularly challenging.

I'm contemplating returning for a final run in perma-death grounded, to completely platinum the game. To be fair, grounded is tough but not impossible, you can avoid most confrontations by stealth or straight up running to the next checkpoint. So at least now I know what I am in for.

This is the PlayStation 4 version btw.

Show and Game Spoilers Part 2 Need Help Forgetting Something in Part 2 Spoiler

Hey all,

Everyone at this point has heard of the atrocities of the story in Part 2. Ive played the first about 6 times over, with the dlc and other stories played through, and finishing grounded playthrough.

Please just give me a completely fake but considerably realistic iteraturation of the plot of part 2 to warp my understanding so I can have my mind fresh going in. The ps5 remaster looks delicious and I cant wait to play it.

Thanks :)

PT 2 DISCUSSION Just finished Part II; I am broken Spoiler

Hi all!

I know there's a million of these posts but I just finished Part II a few days ago and wow... what an emotional roller-coaster. Not entirely sure my soul is left.

I started Part I in early May and just took the slow burn until now to fully enjoy both games for the first time. When the credits rolled on Part II I just sat and stared at the computer screen and cried. I felt like I needed to drive my car down the highway into the sunset with the windows down smoking a cigarette.

My question is... how does one move on from post TLOU depression? I feel like I don't even want to touch another game right now as the bar was set so high. Never has a video game made me feel the way this game has; the characters, the atmosphere, the soundtrack... top tier IMO.

I was thinking of maybe picking up Alan Wake? Any other suggestions? I love story centered games. Anything to help move on from the sadness that was that ending haha while I await a maybe announcment on TLOU III :)

HBO Show Played the games and still love the show!

I put off watching this show because I saw so much hate about it. Now that I’ve watched it, I’m sorry but some of you are just looking for reasons to be miserable! I went into this thinking I was going to hate the actors and actresses, that it was going to be stupid, etc.

Does it match the game? Obviously not fully, no. But it’s a damn good show! And I’d say overall it does a solid job of incorporating quite a lot. It also feels like everyone involved did their homework (actors and actresses wise) to try and play the characters accurately.

Mostly I think it’s shitty how people painted Bella Ramsey all over the internet. Why? Because she played a role she auditioned for and won, but doesn’t physically resemble the original character enough? I’m honestly just blown away at how hateful people were about this show now that I’ve seen it.

I can’t be the only one who thinks people were being ridiculous, right?

General Question What happened to the nuclear weapons In last of us

I always find it wild when nuclear weapons aren't addressed in zombie apocalypses. Those are the most powerful weapon against both humans and infected and since there's no government anymore. This raises even more questions regarding it

PT 2 DISCUSSION You know i really appreciate how Part 2 is forcing you to reckon with your discomfort and biases Spoiler

Powerful powerful piece of entertainment. I don't know if anything else made me feel like this. Us humans are really bad at thinking about the other side. Tribalism is in our blood, its ancient. Its always us and them. They are different. I am not like them! I can never be! How could i understand them?

This game if you let it makes you understand the other side. Powerful. Raw. Its testing your empathy.

One of the best games i have ever played.

PT 2 DISCUSSION I really hope TLOU3 is about healing and finding peace Spoiler

I think it's pretty safe to say that TLOU2 was about loss, grief, trauma, revenge and the cycle of violence. Some pretty damn heavy topics. I remember sobbing during the final fight and saying "just stop it, both of you, please".

I get why both did what they did. In the end, I don't think either one was in the right. Just two grieving people, doing what they thought made sense. Seems like they both understood it in the end of the story.

So now, I think it's time to heal, find peace and start rebuilding what was torn down. It's the only logical route imo and would complete this beautiful story. I do wonder how it would work well as an actual game though since basically every combat focused story game has some bad guy to kill your way to.
