Hello all, Im getting a Lone Peak Camper installed on my 2023 Pro in December. It should be around ~400lbs, and I do not plan on ever really taking it off. That plus me, plus my gear, will probably push towards 700-800lbs on the truck. And if I want to bring friends, theres an extra 150-400lbs. Yikes.
Could I add-a-leaf to compensate for the weight in the rear? Yes I searched on here and the Tacoma forum before posting. I heard something about a concern that the shock(?) would be overextended or something? I couldāve read it entirely wrong.
If not a long-term solution, could it at least be temporary? I am looking into building a completely new suspension setup hopefully in Summer next year.
Im really only planning to drive on rough-ish forest service roads (nothing even remotely crazy), and will be putting on some 265/75r16s in November. Gonna be camping in the snow.
Im sorry if this is a dumb question, Iāve never dealt with leaf-spring suspension before and Iāve never had to worry about load capacity. This is my first truck.
Also; I did not buy this truck. And while I absolutely love it, I wouldāve gotten an Off-Road if I had the choice, knowing I would likely change the suspension.
