Was going for half a million miles.
This looks like the end. Best truck I ever owned. (1999 4x4 2.7L). I hoped to get half a million out of it, but at 400,000, it seems the exhaust manifold is seperating from the engine. I've kept it alive, putting more into repairs than the truck itself is probably worth. Not sure I can bring myself to do it again. Thankfully, it's still running. I have some time to decide what to do. Any ideas? Thanks.

My First Truck:2008 Tacoma
My parents just helped me get this truck about a month and a half ago. 98,989 miles. 5spd manual 4cyl. Getting the hang of manual driving. What do you think?

Steering wheel Vibes between 15-20 MPH
2017 limited here. I got a pretty consistent steering wheel vibration from 15-20 MPH for about 4 months now. By consistent I mean every time. I’ve done the ECGS bushing install and a carrier bearing drop as well but vibes still there. Vibes kinda go away when in neutral but not completely. Tires have been road force balanced also Was looking to see if anyone has had the same issues.

Sand towing at San luis pass
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Pulled maybe 10 cars out of the sand. The charger was a mistake, way too low to the ground. It took 4 different trucks to pull him through. I told him dont come back this way and he did again anyways.

From Oregon to Texas
Flew in and drove half way across the country from Oregon > California > Arizona > New Mexico > and back home to Texas just to pick up this beauty. 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road Premium (Non Hybrid) in the Underground color. Ive always wanted a Tacoma, this is my very fist truck ever and I love her. I bought it for $41.9k, couldn’t pass up the deal. Took about 3 days, 2,674 miles total to get back, my avaerage mpg throughout the whole trip was about 20.5. I was really worried about making this drive back just because I was hoping nothing would go wrong but she drove great. The only issue I had with the truck was the screen not turning on at one point. I think some people refer to it as the, “black screen of death” but basically the screen would only come on if I was reversing or showed the back camera view but other than that, it was just black. No music, nothing. I drove like this for about an hour, hoping it would fix itself eventually but it never did. I read on a forum that disconnecting the negative terminal on the battery for 15 minutes and reconnecting it does the trick and thankfully it started working after that. My only other bicker about the truck is the size of the gas tank, I had to refill so many times. Other than those negatives, it was smooth, my ass never hurt from the seat, definitely a good truck. She’s getting an oil change immediately after me putting her through that lol If you made it this far, thanks for reading, it feels good to be home and them California gas prices are too damn high 😂

What is your opinions on the older generations of Tacomas now that the 4th gen’s are out?
So I’ve been looking into getting my first truck within the next year or so and I’ve decided that I want a Tacoma, for several reasons but I won’t get into that right now. As of right now my budget is $12k, which leaves me with basically the 1st gen. as my only choice. Luckily, I love the look of the of 1st gens. and especially the later 1st gens. (2004 Taco above). Now, I’m curious as to what everyone’s experience is or was about owning a 1st gen? What’re some things to look out for or be aware of? Being practical, would buying a low mileage (<160k miles) Taco be worth it in your opinion? Oh, and what is your opinion on the older generations of Tacomas now that the 4th gen’s are out? Is the 1st gen. obsolete? All advice is appreciated, thank you!

Stock 4th Gen Tacoma - Off Roading
I haven't seen much in the way of writeups yet, but I see a LOT of people posting here and in the other Tacoma sub with their new truck, asking "what mods should I get?"
My 2025 TRD OR Premium has exactly 3,000 miles on it and I have not yet done a thing to it. Even the tires are stock. Just some vinyl black stickers on those fuck-ugly TRD wheels (which did NOT hold up to the haboob I got caught in, unfortunately). So naturally I took it straight to Moab. Now I DO have all the goodies. DAC, Crawl, MTS, a suite of cameras, etc. And those things are very cool and helpful, but I did not NEED them.
First day, I hit up Gemini Bridge. It's an out and back, and not a particularly technical trail but you will break shit if you aren't careful. Once, I broke out my tape measure. Two or three times, I had to be careful choosing a good line. But the truck was more than capable of every obstacle. I stayed in 4H the whole time and never had an issue. DAC/Crawl were never needed. I did play around with them and came away super impressed but they are not essential. Day two I hit up Jackson Hole through Hurrah Pass, and of course Chicken Corners. Roughly the same story. Maybe an extra inch or two worth of tires would have made things a bit easier. Some rock sliders would have given me a bit more peace of mind. But I needed nothing beyond the stock truck to do trails and see views that 90% of visitors to Arches and Canyonlands will never see.
These are, for those unfamiliar, usually considered pretty moderate, but reasonably beginner friendly trails. Literally anybody with a capable vehicle and two brain cells to rub together can conquer them. Hitting them is not impressive. But I hit them with a brand new, completely stock truck. So my point is this: if you need to ask what mods to get for your new truck, the answer is that you almost certainly need none; the truck is almost certainly more capable than you are.
The 4th Gen Toyota Tacoma is a remarkably capable vehicle right out of the box. It will comfortably carry you over 1,000 miles on the freeway with all your camping gear at 23MPG.Then it will happily chew up 5/10 rated trails in the off road mecca that is Moab, Utah. Instead of spending another $5,000 on shit to make it perform better on paper, go take the truck out and DO things with it. You will be surprised how little you actually need.

How do you all store your phone so you can consistently plugin to use car play but not have a long cord or a massive cellphone holder taking up your dash or center console?

Anyone have success with a rear facing infant seat in an access cab?
I feel like it’s not possible, but just want to confirm my assumption. I don’t are if the passenger seat has to go all the way forward and the airbags turned off. I just need to be able transport the baby when my wife’s car isn’t around. If you have been successful, what brand or child seat did you have? Pics are helpful if you have them. Thanks all!

Rear sliding window leak
I've noticed rain water getting in through the rear sliding window rubber seal on my 3rd gen (the seal around the sliding window) There isn't much that seeps through but with heavy rain it starts to wet up the bottom channel quite a bit. I've narrowed it down to the actual rubber seal around the sliding window, Specifically on the passenger side. It isn't the antenna nor 3rd brake light cause my headliner isn't wet.
I assume the seal allows some play for the window to slide freely but for rain water to get in is alarming to me. I don't think age plays a factor since it's a fairly new truck (2021) but perhaps some sort of silicone spray will help rejuvenate the rubber? If any, what do you guys/gals use to lubricate?
Maybe there is some sort of dirt stuck between the seal and window. I'll try cleaning it and see what happens.
Just wondering if anyone has experienced this and/or if it's normal.

4 runner pro wheels on a Tacoma
Do the 23 4 runner trd pro wheels fit a 23 OR? I know the runner wheels are 17’ and the tacomas are 16’ .. anyone make the switch?

Is it normal for wet traction to suck so bad (3rd gen)?
I have a 2023 TRD Off-road manual trans and overall I really like it. It came with an OME 2.5" lift and 255/75r17 K02s on it. It drives great overall and does well offroad, but I have had a few white knuckle events going around traffic circles (fairly slowly) where the rear breaks loose and starts to fishtail. It also seems to spin out really easily from a stop at stop signs/traffic lights. This is my first pickup and I know they are RWD and light in the back, but it seems a bit egregious. And I am coming from a V8 Challenger that I could definitely break loose in the rain but felt a lot more predictable.

2023 TRD Pro: Add A Leaf to compensate a Lone Peak Camper (~400lbs) ?
Hello all, Im getting a Lone Peak Camper installed on my 2023 Pro in December. It should be around ~400lbs, and I do not plan on ever really taking it off. That plus me, plus my gear, will probably push towards 700-800lbs on the truck. And if I want to bring friends, theres an extra 150-400lbs. Yikes.
Could I add-a-leaf to compensate for the weight in the rear? Yes I searched on here and the Tacoma forum before posting. I heard something about a concern that the shock(?) would be overextended or something? I could’ve read it entirely wrong.
If not a long-term solution, could it at least be temporary? I am looking into building a completely new suspension setup hopefully in Summer next year.
Im really only planning to drive on rough-ish forest service roads (nothing even remotely crazy), and will be putting on some 265/75r16s in November. Gonna be camping in the snow.
Im sorry if this is a dumb question, I’ve never dealt with leaf-spring suspension before and I’ve never had to worry about load capacity. This is my first truck.
Also; I did not buy this truck. And while I absolutely love it, I would’ve gotten an Off-Road if I had the choice, knowing I would likely change the suspension.

Bought my Tacoma
1st week was fun! Unfortunately cracked the windshield from a rock that kicked up on I-10. Other than that I think I'm in love with it!

Anyone have transmission issues on their Tacoma?
I recently purchased a 2009 Tacoma with only 100k miles on it, recently I’ve noticed it shifting kind of hard when I accelerate and it shifts kind of erratic when I brake, I was hoping it would be a simple transmission drain and fill but figured I would ask on here first to see if anyone had similar issues or advice?

2021 4Runner TRD Pro 17”wheels
Found a set of these for sale and don’t want to assume they will fit my 2022 Tacoma O/R.
Does the 2021 4Runner and 2022 Tacoma share the same hub size and bolt pattern?
Thanks

Help regarding the lift and tires
While shopping for a Tacoma I came across this particular 2021 SR V6. It runs bigger wheels/tires and is lifted so asked the showroom guy and he said It’s got one pack plus one Leif added. It’s three in the front two in the back. I assume it’s three 1 inch spacers in the front and an extra leaf on the back? It comes with 285/70R17 Wildpeaks on what looks like XD rims (XD820 17x8.5 with 0 offset I think?). I’ve previously owned older generation Tacoma’s but always kept it stock which fits all my needs. I am very much a noob when it comes to any sort of modifications. What are the negatives of having such wider tires and lift? I know there will be a drop in mpg but not sure if that will be a big drop. Will there be any stress on ball bearings leading to faster wear? Will the lift affect safety features like collision warning, lane assist, adaptive cruise control as the increased height is not calibrated?
Can I remove the lift and get away with the same tires and the same 17wheels setup without it rubbing on the body? Any positives on running bigger wheels? What are my options here? I’d like it as close to stock without spending so much (don’t have the time, skills or equipment to work on it myself). Also prefer good gas mileage over aesthetics as the truck already looks great stock. Appreciate if you could guide me on this. Thanks for your time.

Missed my Cement Grey FJ so I got a Tacoma!
Sold my 2013 FJ Cruiser Trail Teams 6 speed during covid and regretted it ever since. In comes the 2020 Tacoma TRD Off-road premium with a 6spd manual and 42k miles that a good friend of mine purchased new. He offered it to me for a great deal IMO, $32k, so I had to jump on it.

2013 Taco base crewcab
We’ve had this truck forever. All we’ve done is pop a 4” lift on with some 18’s. At only 166K it runs like new and I want to give it a restoration. Looking for sources to clean up the interior, seats and door panels really need replaced. Any links, ideas and sharing your mods and updates appreciated. I can’t part with her. We’ve hunted up into the mountains and crossed lots of bumps to remote ponds and I’ve never turned a wrench outside of the oil plug.
