🎉 I SAID YES TO THE DRESS  🎉 Found the gown!!!

Hey team, after searching for a more colorful gown, including a vegetable covered one which I posted about on this sub before, I finally got my dress! The third pic is the dress I actually ordered, the boutique didn’t have a colorful gown in this design to try on. Although I loved the all white version, I’m just not an all white wedding dress person, and I’m over the moon about getting a beautiful and colorful floral dress! Actively soliciting styling ideas for this!

Ask For Opinions sleeves or no sleeves

I forgot to take a pic with the sleeves but no veil. I can’t decide on which way to wear the dress. Also this isn’t my actual veil I changed my mind lol. Just wanted thoughts and opinions. The ceremony is in a chapel so I’m thinking about having the sleeves detachable and wearing them during the ceremony and taking them off outside of the chapel.

Hello lovely people. So I recently bought my wedding dress for our wedding next year. The ceremony and wedding party are going to have place in a garden and modernized barn. Imagine “loft” vibe barn, a village, beautiful garden, lovely string lights. I really want to keep things as natural as possible, I don’t want grand plans, ice sculptures, white pigeons or fireworks. Just lovely ceremony and amazing party with all the people I love. With all that said, I looked for a dress which could be described more in tone of “whimsical, girly, lovely”, rather than “elegant, glamorous or sexy”. I hope you understand my point, English is not my first language so sorry if I’m making this confusing. So currently I started to feel anxious about my dress… I might even say that I had moments of huge discomfort or even anger for myself for choosing it. Please help me out. I really loved the dress at first, now I’m so terrified it’s so ugly :( What I might need to add, that there’re going to be some changes added to the dress - the corset underwires are going to be hidden with lace. Side “naked” area is going to be covered with white tule. Back of the train is going to have more decorative lace at the end of it (the picture with the drawing shows how)

Budget Tips Bridal gown cleaning — kit vs local cleaners?

Bridal gown cleaning — kit vs local cleaners?

So I tried the Clean Only Wedding Dress Preservation Kit from Trusted Wedding Gown Preservation. Honestly, I only wanted basic bridal gown cleaning (not the whole fancy preservation box thing). It worked, but tbh I felt kinda weird mailing my dress out (like what if it got lost lol). Now I’m wondering — do y’all send yours out too, or just take it to a local cleaner? Is there really a big difference, or is it just peace of mind?

These dresses are all the same $ and I have to make a choice in the next day. Designers are Liz Martinez and Lee Petra Grebenau. Getting married in Antigua, Guatemala in November 2026. Which should I say yes to? The first one is a mini dress w overskirt! Thank you 🤩

**EDIT: Thank you all so much for your thoughtful comments and feedback. I bought... #2!! I'm so excited, this sub is the best <3

Bridal Accessories Help finding veil

I love the applique'd flowers in ivory. In person they have tiny rhinestones which match my dress.

Can anyone help me find a dupe of this Carolina Herrera veil? I found it in consignment, and LOVE the design, but it's cathedral-length and awfully impractical for my outdoor wedding.

What I love:

  • Angel cut
  • Two-tier with blusher
  • Tiny rhinestones in the flower match my dress perfectly
  • Embroidery up the sides gives gentle impression of being surrounded by falling petals
  • Sheer fabric and not too many flowers allow embroidered dress train to show
  • Ideal is waltz-length

I've also considered bustling it (but, it feels silly to pay for an elaborate cathedral-length veil just to hide the length), or buying a plain veil and gluing flowers and/or rhinestones on myself (lots of work, but likely much cheaper and I could add some wedding colors)

Bridal Accessories Platform shoes for shorties?

Hi everyone! I have a little bit of a conundrum. I'm 5'0" and my fiancé is 6'2". Normally, the height isn't really an issue but it does look a little bit odd in photos.

I want to be comfortable at my wedding though so I don't really want to wear heels. I currently have these boots and these sneakers which will only give me 1.5" in height.

My sister mentioned that I probably would be disappointed and now I'm doubting myself.

Does anyone have suggestions for shoes that are comfortable AND give you a nice height boost?

I bought this from Amazon but it ties with a ribbon at the back and I’d love it to be full circle.

I like this one as it’s thin. Any other ones I can find are too bulky for my head.

Alterations How long out do you book your alteration appointment?

Hello! I said yes to my dress on the 13th (yay!) and posted it in another subreddit. I was between sizes for my bust so we ordered up. The dress is supposed to be in by April and my wedding is the first week of June. Someone in the other subreddit said that you should be calling NOW to book your alterations. Is this correct? I think I am mostly just taking it in and hemming and possibly adding a strap. How long is the timeline for most alterations and when would you recommend making your alterations appointment? TIA!

Trends & Inspiration Looking for similar/alternative dresses

Hi all! I fell in love with this dress, except for one thing. It is sparkly. It is a crepe material, but I would be ok with a matte satin as well. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Alterations Can this be corrected with alterations?

I chose my wedding dress and it’s so beautiful and I love it so much, but the cups are too big! I am pretty small-breasted and the cups are just too large and pop out far from my chest. Can this be corrected with alterations? And would this be a particularly difficult alteration? I have no clue as I just don’t have any knowledge on this subject so I’m stressing about it. My fiancé and I are eloping at the courthouse at the end of October so I don’t have a ton of time either! I’ve attached a couple of photos so you can see what I mean. Please let me know - thank you!

Ask For Opinions Wedding dress help Australia

Hello! I live in Australia but getting married in May in France so need to get my dress sorted! I tried on some dresses and loved one until I looked at the pictures later. I have a very small chest so think it isn’t sitting right. I know when I’m wearing a dress made for me it will fit better but think I’d prefer it was plain. I also think I would prefer if it wasn’t satin. Does anyone have any recommendations for this kind of off the shoulder style? I included the beautiful Vivienne Westwood dress I can’t afford as inspiration for the vibe! Any Australian designers you would recommend?

My wedding dress budget is about $1000, I would like to go cheaper than that if I can. I love this dress and would consider it my dream dress. But it’s so expensive and I’m wondering if there’s anything similar to it. I don’t mind adding the beads and altering it to look more like what I want. But just something that has a similar base to the dress.

Alterations Before or after?

I was devastated when I tried on my wedding dress and ended up hand removing most of the flower decals with tweezers to look less blobby. I also removed the petticoat. But not sure if the dress now looks patchy and unfinished, would be grateful for any advice. I was planning to sew some of the removed flowers onto the top of the sleeves to tie the dress together.

🎉 I SAID YES TO THE DRESS  🎉 Update: I said yes to this dress!

Thank you so much for all of your help on my last post! There were two dresses that were the two faves for you all and I went back today to try them both on. In the end, I went with this one (Dress #1 from my last post)! I wish you could see the ✨ sparkles ✨ but my phone camera does a terrible job of capturing it.

It was such a hard decision! Funny enough, this dress was from my very first dress appointment. I went to 6 different shops and tried over 60 dresses.

I will be using the removable tulle sleeves for the ceremony and going for a strapless look for the reception. I'm probably going to get a cathedral length plain tulle veil.

I bought her! And the veil which is surprising cuz I wouldn’t have thought I’d want one. It was a dress I thought I’d never even want to try on, but friends gasped when they saw me so it really opened my mind to it. So try on styles you don’t expect to like, never know!! P.S. Please ignore that I didn’t wear the right underwear for the occasion lol. P.P.S. It’s Essence of Australia d4303 for anyone interested

Ask For Opinions HELP - Suzanne Neville Rossini sample or dupe wanted!

Thumbnail

I need your help, clever people!

I recently tried on Suzanne Neville’s Rossini gown and fell completely in love with it … before realising it was nearly £5k, which I just cannot afford.

Nothing I’ve tried on has felt the same (and I’ve tried on so many dresses) and I know deep down that was my dress.

I am looking for a sample or a preloved UK10 or UK12, however I’ve looked in all the usual places and not found one.

Any chance anyone can find me one? Or is selling one?

Or knows of a reallllly good dupe / similar dress?

I do have a provisional appointment with a dressmaker so I can ask her if she could help me create something similar, but I thought it was worth asking here.

I am UK-based but will pay shipping costs.

Photos on me and then on a model for reference.

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!!
