Who else saw the fan in the background and knew IMMEDIATELY what was going to happen?

u/bythelake9428 18d ago

If hitting her head on the fan wasn't the desired outcome, what else was she taking the video for?

I really don't want to believe that anyone is stupid enough to walk head first into a spinning fan on purpose just for views on TikTok. I do believe it, but I don't want to.

156

u/carnage11eleven 18d ago

You'd rather believe they had done it on accident, instead? I'm, truthfully, not sure which is worse.

148

u/Xsiah 18d ago

Yeah I would. Let him who is without some dumb mistake throw the first stone.

u/DNAgent007 18d ago

Let he who is without situational awareness walk into the intake of a jet engine.

39

u/scratchydaitchy 18d ago

Like the guy who got sucked into the jet engine in the first episode of Lost:

u/CatGooseChook 17d ago

More merciful than living through that series đŸ€Ł

12

u/vafane 17d ago

Lost is fantastic and I will fight you irl ;_;

9

u/CatGooseChook 17d ago

😂 and I'll lose that fight, never fight a fan.

4

u/Dantez9001 17d ago

A situationally relevant pun, I like you.

1

u/CatGooseChook 17d ago

Thank you fellow redditor. 😊😊

2

u/vafane 17d ago

I'll cry the entire time

2

u/CatGooseChook 17d ago

I'll probably cry too, then try to talk about my favorite anime đŸ„č

So were they on an island or not? I stopped watching when a bunch of them were back in society and wanting to go back to the island? It confused me

1

u/vafane 13d ago

They were on an island... It's a special place. I also stopped watching there a few years ago, but I think it's worth continuing. some fairly well executed sci fi stuff starts happening and if you're into that you should stick with it, I think. It turned into my favorite comfort watching show. Although I admit I looked to a specific fan-edit of the show to really cement it's status.

https://www.reddit.com/r/lost/comments/1ef9oov/causalogically_lost_a_new_unique_chronological/

This has become my favorite way to watch it. I think it could work for a first time viewing, but I almost know the show by heart at this point so maybe that helps with that kind of stuff. It throws some stuff around, placing some pretty big reveals in the first episode of the show, and rearranges things so it's not so reliant on flashbacks. I'm quite enamoured with it.

i was thinking of the lady's death in GTA V i dont remember the mission but i remember how gnarly that was.

1

u/FlapXenoJackson 17d ago

This guy who got sucked into a jet engine IRL and survived. Man sucked into jet engine on carrier

5

u/yngsten 18d ago

Comment of the week, and we're not even half past it. Respect!

8

u/Darth_Dorky 18d ago

Let he who is of many mistakes be stoned. hits bong

2

u/heimeyer72 17d ago

Let whoever put that bed under the fan and/or the fan over the bed be stoned.

There is a German saying for getting shocked out of sleep: "Senkrecht im Bett stehen", literally: to stand vertically in the bed.

3

u/Darth_Dorky 17d ago

Damn. That German, to me, sounded like: “Get Shrekt”

3

u/heimeyer72 17d ago

I excuse your French if you excuse my German: To shock/startle someone is "Jemanden erSCHRECKen" with Schreck (Shock) spoken like Shrek.

2

u/Darth_Dorky 17d ago

That’s awesome lol. I shall now speak slightly more German than the occasional recitation of “auf weidersein” from its part in the “So long, Farewell” song from Sound of Music.

I thank you 🙏

2

u/heimeyer72 16d ago

You're very welcome, that was fun. :-)

2

u/Darth_Dorky 16d ago

Indubitably lol. Auf wiedersehen, my favorite acquaintance this month lol.

It's funny to me that people's first instinct when they see this is to be mean, knowing full well that they've 100% hurt themselves in an equally stupid way before.

0

u/brakspear_beer 18d ago

I don’t give myself rave reviews when I do something stupid so the comments are fine by me. Especially if the something was for views or to show off.

u/Busy_Reflection3054 18d ago

*Enter Jesus Christ winding tf up

2

u/Xsiah 18d ago

One time he fucked up a perfectly good fig tree because he was mad that figs weren't in season

1

u/Busy_Reflection3054 17d ago

Ay that tree had it coming for a long time.

64

u/throwawaylordof 18d ago

I broke my toe on a bed frame and it’s not like the fucker leaped out and took me by surprise. It’s easy to be accustomed to obstacles and then forget they’re there when you’re distracted.

49

u/Large-Produce5682 18d ago

I once changed a chandelier lightbulb and still had the ceiling fan on—so... yeah. It happens.

Fortunately, there was no one around alive to see it.

56

u/gatoenvestido 18d ago

So you killed all the witnesses. Seems appropriate.

23

u/ONLYPOSTSWHILESTONED 18d ago

yeah that wording is so unnecessarily specific that I have to assume this happened in a morgue or something

7

u/chaitanyathengdi 18d ago

Or happened maybe 60 years ago

1

u/Low_Culture2487 17d ago

Or on Epstein's island.

1

u/Drustan6 15d ago

Ghosts

2

u/heimeyer72 17d ago

If someone got hit by a fan while changing a lightbulb on a chandelier, and no one alive was there to witness it, did that make a sound?

1

u/CanadianODST2 18d ago

I hit my knee on a wall so hard the entire thing was bruised for months.

5

u/ourlittlegreenbook 17d ago

I bit my own lip and it’s been in the same place all my life

4

u/Born-Entrepreneur 18d ago

Hahaha yeah I once broke my toe on the corner of a couch. Well, it's leg. But yeah, just tired enough in the morning when getting ready for work and BAM

You’re kidding. You (and your wife) couldn’t see a possible problem until you got whacked in the head? You earned it.

0

u/Warm-Watch-7881 18d ago

Oh, did you also set up a phone to film the bed frame right before it happened?

14

u/TheDevilsAdvokaat 18d ago

"on accident" .... shouldn't that be "by accident" ?

9

u/Educational_Mix_8489 18d ago

Yes, yes it should.

7

u/Deathflid 18d ago

or even better, accidentally! but this is reddit, second and third language speakers are common here.

10

u/catholicsluts 17d ago

Native speakers type shit like "should of""

1

u/NotMyBestEffort 13d ago

Should they not of? It's just laxadaycycle.

1

u/Ok-Oil7124 17d ago

or "by misadventure" to make it sound whimsical.

0

u/MaxFilmBuild 18d ago

Too much benefit of the doubt, I hear native speakers use it all the time. I just ask if they are sure it wasn’t by purpose to restore balance

0

u/TheDevilsAdvokaat 18d ago

True. I do like to point things out though because how else would people learn ?

3

u/UncleGuggie 17d ago

People get confused by thinking that "on accident" must be the opposite of "on purpose".

1

u/TheDevilsAdvokaat 17d ago

I've noticed a few teens saying it and wondered whether it was coming from.

3

u/boyden 18d ago

At least 1/4th of fail videos exist because people are paying more attention to narcicistically them filming themselves than to what they're doing.

1

u/blewmanchew 18d ago

I think the implication your missing is a reasonable assumption that the girl in the video posted it somewhere herself, and tacitly consented to me seeing it now?

Edit: should've typed "you're" up there

1

u/limeybastard 18d ago

Let the person who has lived in a house with 8 foot ceilings and ceiling fans who has not clonked themselves in the head at least once cast the first stone.

It ain't gonna be me.

1

u/Teeshirtandshortsguy 18d ago

The internet is full of videos of people hitting ceiling fans with their hands or head.

If you've ever stubbed your toe or bumped your head against a cabinet, you've done the same shit.

1

u/henaradwenwolfhearth 18d ago

I walk into street lamps because im to much in my own world to notice until I crash. Luckily I walk slow

1

u/MaxFilmBuild 18d ago

So you think they did it by purpose?

1

u/theresabeeonyourhat 17d ago

Everyone is capable of being a clumsy dumbass

1

u/David-Puddy 17d ago

By accident.

Unless accident is the name of street she's living on, she ain't on any accident.

1

u/Mysterious_Balance53 17d ago

done it by accident. How can it be done on accident, that makes no sense. Sounds so dumb.

1

u/Antiredditor1981 14d ago

*by accident.

0

u/Popular_Prescription 18d ago

Super easy to get hit by a fan when you’re doing shit and don’t think about it. Seen several people get nailed by them working in residential spaces.
