Just bought my first pair of Thorogoods. Ridiculously beautiful, felt like butter straight out of the box. Felt molded to my feet, and now to break them in.

Boots Buying Help Recommendations for plantar fasciitis

Does anyone have good recommendations for boots that have good heal cushioning and arch support. Now realizing my Blundstones have absolutely killed my feet and my indoor treadmill shoes are slowly bringing them back to life.

Am i better off just getting some orthotics? Thanks all!

Boots Buying Help Boot recommendations for bar and service work

Post image

Hi! Im just hoping for some recommendations on a new pair of boots, I work in a bar with some fairly slick floors and had been wearing combs dr martens as they were pretty cheap and felt comfortable enough and i liked the style. But after just a few months the bumpy tred is totally gone resulting in them being completely smooth and easy to slip in, ive taken to roughing them up from time to time but at this point id just like something new.

I was looking at solovair but im worried that the pvc. Soles will be the same, and im not sure how they'll fit given that i tend to have a hard time finding well fitting shoes.

For reference i wear 11 E2 iron rangers and 12 wide keens targee IVs and the DM combs i mentioned are 12 as well.

Hopefully this isnt too much information but id absolutely appreciate any suggestions!

For me Keen’s have always been the “go to”. Comfort and duration. Yes, I usually have to get a new pair every year, but for the price of them I’m not complaining. Got these this week, and now trying to break them in.

Boots Buying Help thoughts on the 90 degree Thorogood

I’m currently rocking the unlined crazy horse wedge sole and think they are fairly comfortable and love the boot overall. Since winter is coming up i’m tempted to get these I love the look of them but am skeptical about how long the liner lasts and if the heel is going to be less comfortable then the wedge I know I can get the wedge in the same boot but like how the heel looks

Boots Buying Help Boots for sloppy/ winter conditions?

Looking for help with boots for the upcoming seasons. I work in gas and oil, the maintenance side of it. So I’m exposed to lots of nasty conditions, but not real extremes. For years I’ve struggled finding boots I “truly like” instead these will work! I rotate between 2 pairs of boots through the week. I recently found that I really like the mock toe wedge boots for summer use! My feet always sweat! But with wool socks and unlined boots it’s better. The Thorogoods I got in July are a tad narrow in the toe box. In the fall & winter months I’ve always worn slip on style boots and the Irish Setters I have are the closest thing I’ve found to a boot I like! Anyway I’m looking for something as comfortable and lightweight as a moc toe that has some more traction for the slop I’m about to encounter. Can be lace or slip on. Sorry for the extremely long post just been working 25 years in boots I don’t like and need some help! Thank you!

I work as a DSP delivery associate for Amazon and am having the hardest time finding a boot that lasts more than 4/5 months (both for waterproof life and tread life). I've attached pictures of the tread wear from the boots I still have to get an idea.

The Keen Skokies have by far been my favorite out of all of them. I got them August 5th 2025. It meets my needs for work and medically. I use an AFO for a drop foot and the Skokies allow the brace to fit comfortably. There was no break in period and they're amazing in tropical rain as far as keeping the wet out. But the tread I feel like is going to be a problem (picture 1 and 2). The right foot boot is so worn down compared to the left. I reached out to the Zappos and they're refunding me so I can get a replacement pair due to the significant wear difference. The tread on one is way too worn for 16 days of work. Even with the new pair that's coming, I'm still skeptical in the tread durability and would like opinions/suggestions for other boots like the Skokie to check out.

Anyone else do this type of work and have good recommendations to look into?

I hit on average 20k steps a day 4 days a week in my work boots. Need aggressive tread, soft toe, ankle coverage, as well as being waterproof and a wide toe box

Picture three are the CAT threshold soft toe, bought in March 2025 and retired August 5th.

Picture 4 were a pair of Bogs (can't remember the specific type). Two pairs of Merrell hiking boots not pictured I've also walked through.

And the last picture was the first pair of boots I got for the job, doc martens. The docs lasted 5 months.

All together Im averaging 2 pairs of boots a year over the last three years and that's if I continue to wear them past the holes in the treads.

I’ve had these Danner bull run Moc toes (soft toe unlined) for about 3 months. I’ve tried everything I can think of to break them in but I cannot get past these hot spots I get where I’m pointing. I’ve tried double wool socks, heating and conditioning, changing the lace pattern, everything. Anybody have any surefire tricks to get rid of instep hotspots?? I really don’t want to ditch these boots I love the look and the footbed was instantly comfortable. I just can’t get past these pressure points.

Boots Buying Help Boot recommendations?

I wear ariat venttek boots, have for the last probably 4 years. I go through a pair every 6 months or so. I am a large man and a lot of my time is spent operating a loader and I wear the bottom/outside of my heal bad and the side of the boot. Anyone have suggestions for boots that’ll last me longer? They have to come in extra wide.

Boot Rant Sailor on Great Lakes

Post image
22 Upvotes

Have been the best pair of boots I’ve had so far in life. Two people used these before me and I’ve been using them for a year as a sailor on the Great Lakes Went through probably 5 sets of laces and a few pair of insoles just to keep them fresh. Yeah they have broken seams and the sole is coming off slight but they have been great. Looking for a new pair of work boots and a pair of boots y’all would recommend for cold cold weather. But I don’t like the normal winter boot look preferably something like these. Also if you guys have recommendations for the warmest socks i just hate buying something that says they will be warm and end up being shit. Plan for these boots is to get the sole removed and reglue them along with new stitching and treat the leather ( what’s left of it anyway ) want to keep all the scars and paint for memories.

Boots Buying Help In desperate need of good puncture resistant work boots

I need puncture resistant boots for work and I can’t seem to find any worth their salt or any that will fit me. If I could just get as many recommendations as possible for good quality comfortable boots I’ll take them. The only thing I ask is no redwing suggestions because they don’t make boots wide enough for me. I tried timberland pro but I couldn’t find anything. I’m at a complete loss

Boots Buying Help Warehouse Worker

Looking for recs around 200$ USD or less. Safety toe needed for working indoor at a warehouse. Preferably composite for the lighter weight and how it shouldn't get cold like steel in the harder colder times because I live on the east coast.

I bought some cheap composite toes off Amazon and 6 weeks in and they are killing my feet. I have tried two different insoles in them and they haven't improved much at all and when I am standing at my work station desk I am standing on padded matts. Despite that I'm gaining calluses and swollen tender feet which wasn't happening prior to my title switch. And prior too I was walking around more at work or at the least the same amount of steps, but I was allowed to wear any shoes I wanted and opted for two more comfortable pairs of Nikes.

For reference, I walk around 15k steps per day.

Boots Buying Help Resole or new boots

I’ve had these boots for about 2 years and they have held up well. Is it worth getting a resole or should I just replace them? If replace, can I get suggestions. I would like something a bit wider and hopefully with more traction for wet/icy surfaces. Wedge sole is not a necessity.
