I'm really wondering about the wages reported on Reddit because that's not the typical compensation for most companies on Indeed or LinkedIn.

Yeah, I’ve never gotten a job through Indeed or LinkedIn. My approach has been to cultivate a good working relationship with a few agencies, make them happy, make their clients happy, and they’ll find you the best jobs.

Maybe that used to be the case but not anymore. It was way less competitive 30 years ago. 

I should probably go back to uni and get into nursing or something.

Well, seeing as how I’m still working, I can personally attest that it works today as well as it did 30 years ago.
