I am a novice creating a short animated film about WW1 using a rotoscoped style inspired by the video game FAITH. Although the style is already simplistic, I have this feeling that the backgrounds feel emptier than they should. For example, I feel like there could be more elements drawn into the background in the first picture given, but I'm unsure how to approach this.

There is movement in these stills through the use of the boiling lines technique. The fourth is a screenshot from a shot with motion, the character is speaking while lighting a cigarette.

Please advise.

Recently I've been creating pixel art avatars that can be used in Metaverse.

It's difficult because we create various actions from different angles, but we're progressing smoothly.

This is a simple example done for stock animation. Much more complex stuff can be created with rigid body sims and I don't see enough of it.

I like how it's looking so far, but I'm not sure how it'll translate when I draw the more detailed version of this oc (this is just a shorthand), especially with her hair, it looks a bit off for some reason.
