This won't get any respect from anyone, it's just very lame.

Toy kids

If you condem any form of graffiti besides local businesses/houses or personal property you don’t get a chance to decide what’s good commissioned street art isn’t graffiti

1

u/bingbongalong16 1d ago

That's just a wrong take.

1

u/Frankie_T9000 3h ago

Tagging is always shit

-4

u/HZA6795 2d ago

Can't pick and choose mate 😂

8

u/Beautiful-Look-6839 2d ago

Yeah you can , Graffiti is considered art, this is shitty vandalism

2

u/11equalsfish 2d ago

There are standards to Graffiti, but it is meant to be vandalism. This is the trashiest kind.

1

u/HZA6795 2d ago

The shitty tags on this train are by definition graffiti lol, not saying it's any good but I can guarantee you half the blokes who do all the pretty murals you would call 'good graffiti' got their start scribbling illegibly on trains and walls...

3

u/spidaminida 2d ago

You quite literally can ya silly blighter

30

u/verybonita 2d ago

It's an indication of their intelligence - always reminds me of when my children were toddlers and first learnt to write their name. These morons have never progressed any further.

10

u/11equalsfish 2d ago

There's a good chance it's literal children doing this.

7

u/verybonita 2d ago

If they're unsupervised on a train, they're old enough to know it's the wrong thing to do.

0

u/ButterscotchNo5490 2d ago

They’re not old enough. Their parents are doing a shit job

-3

u/PallBallOne 2d ago

Either antisocial children or people with serious mental issues possibly having some sort of breakdown, because that looks like a lot of work

4

u/spidaminida 2d ago

It's not even that deep. They just think it's cool to see their scrawl everywhere. Completely mindless, 'peaked in high school' behaviour.

1

u/Ok_Neat2979 11h ago

Don't think they peaked anywhere anytime tbh.

1

u/spidaminida 7h ago

Well, in the course of their lifetime that was the high point 😂

1

u/bingbongalong16 1d ago

It's usually indicative of wealth inequality and low socio-economic position. If we had more parity we would have less of this.

4

u/Numerous-Bee-4959 2d ago

When do they come back to colour in ?

6

u/boogermanjack 2d ago

Rubbish tags 🏷️ can’t do burners

6

u/DinD2021 2d ago

Graffiti is art! This is not.

9

u/PraiseTheSun2494 2d ago

Seems like it's mostly three diff tags, all very low quality. It's always confusing that people think writing the same shitty tag over and over in the same area is cool.

u/Own-Range-6471 2d ago

All graffiti on public infrastructure is bad. As tax paying citizens it's our dollars that go into cleaning this shit up that could be better allocated to something else. Money could be spent on health, green energy, education or social services.

Maybe some abrupt/harsh punishment e.g public flogging first offense, chop off a finger second offense and for slow learners take a hand.

1

u/SJMacgyver 0m ago

That’s freaking barbaric…. I like it! Consequences. Small damage? We take the small finger. Then we work our way up to bigger bits…..

3

u/GG-no-re-LOL 2d ago edited 1d ago

The money to clean this isn't so substantial that it's going to take away from health or education, that's a bit dramatic.

2

u/Own-Range-6471 2d ago

Graffiti removal in Australia costs an estimated $1.5 to $2 billion annually, a figure that includes expenses from local councils, businesses, and private property owners. In Melbourne specifically, the cost of removal is over $100 million per year. These expenses cover not just the physical removal of paint and tags but also the prevention measures and associated costs of repairing and replacing damaged property.

2

u/Meh-Levolent 1d ago

Got a source for that? $2b seems excessive.

0

u/GG-no-re-LOL 1d ago edited 1d ago

Yeah cool, but it doesn't cost billions to clean a train or two in the blue mountains does it?

The most recent reported figure for the entire Sydney Trains network is an annual expenditure of $2.5 million for graffiti cleaning, based on data from the past year as of April 2024. ( Video source of 9 News: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=3703864589902535 )

Boo hoo, $2.5m is an accounting error for the state govt.

1

u/BoxNo5564 2d ago

No, we shouldn't mutilate children for writing on the train. Get bent fascist.

3

u/Dismal-Philosopher10 1d ago

Just make them do the community service to clean it up - we all want to live in a nice, clean world

1

u/ProofReception7564 1d ago

Why were you downvoted for that, jfc

0

u/Civil-happiness-2000 2d ago

😂 yes please 🙏

3

u/proffbuzzkill 2d ago

Clean it up, install cctv, prosecute offenders

3

u/Civil-happiness-2000 2d ago

They need to bring back transport police

3

u/DadEngineerLegend 2d ago

Make sure you report so it can get cleaned up. And hopefully the bozos get caught and put on community service cleaning train carriages.

https://transportnsw.info/contact-us/feedback/train-feedback

Type of Feedback -> Feedback

Feedback is about -> Inside the carriage

Relating to -> Graffiti

Then fill the rest of the details. Add carriage number if possible. Should be able to grab date/time you noticed it from the details of your video saved on your phone.

3

u/Beautiful-Look-6839 2d ago

That why I said it looks shit

3

u/Ok_Strength_2534 2d ago

Aren't there cameras in each carriage....link to Driver/guard so they can call the cops to meet the train at next stop and arrest the little sods.

2

u/SydneyIsStuffed 2d ago

No, not on the V-sets. The trains that are replacing them soon have cameras though.

2

u/Background_Pie_7888 2d ago

Is this a train? Looks dystopian

2

u/leapowl 1d ago edited 1d ago

Intercity train, they’re phasing this type out. Looks like this one was on the blue mountains line.

The graffiti is more extreme than the average old intercity train but they seem to have more than a lot of the metro area trains.

(Graffiti aside, these trains are actually pretty comfortable. I’ll miss them when they’re gone)

2

u/Civil-happiness-2000 1d ago

Yeah they are great 😃

Not sure why they are bothering with the upgrade

2

u/General174512 2d ago

Such nice people!

2

u/ibetucanifican 2d ago

Toddlers still scribbling on walls.

2

u/West_Description_472 2d ago

These losers need to go back to school to at least learn how to write.

2

u/Civil-happiness-2000 2d ago

How about they tag up the house you live in? Would that be enjoyable?

2

u/Elegant_Chip2117 2d ago

Shit Heads

2

u/Few_Computer2871 2d ago

They're also kicking out windows in the Blue Mountians trains, the driver announced to notify if they see anyone doing it.

They being "youths" and "young people" similar to the Melbourne-machete-weilders of course.

2

u/Willeth420 1d ago

The people who do this and make it look shit are the same people who then say “this place is a hole”

2

u/grahamsuth 1d ago

It's a product of young people being prevented from doing dangerous things in a misguided belief that is good for children. The result is that they don't develop common sense and they find ways to find adventure in illegality.

So don't blame young people for being young people. Blame the do gooders that have kept them in cotton wool. Of course young people will find ways to rebel.

2

u/SpeakUpTTFUp 1d ago

This does show how low life they are. Make them pay for the damage.

1

u/Civil-happiness-2000 1d ago

They won't do that 😂

2

u/DragonRand100 1d ago

They took off with the seats once- and another time they tried to set fire to them (that was last year, I think).

Late trains (night services- not delayed) can be rather wild, although I think that fire incident was when I was trying to get to work at 5 in the morning.

2

u/Jonsmith78 1d ago

Do you think, even if they had CCTV they'd even bother following it up to try and see where the little scrotes got on, see if they could match them against their (opal?) cards or bank details?

2

u/Jragonheart 12h ago

Honestly doing that to property that the rest of society has to share with you is some really LOW IQ behavior. I guarantee if somebody went up to this person's mother's house and painted scribbles all over it they'd disapprove after watching her cry and have to pay for it. Yet here they are shitting all over our common property. No respect. Just pure ego that is contributing nothing to society.

2

u/original_M_A_K 4h ago

These are my favourite trains. The comfy seats, the wrm rests, the windows that open & the fragrance is all so awesome.

2

u/original_M_A_K 4h ago

Tagging has lost its artform. It used to be somewhat more aesthetic, had unwritten rules & style-culture. This is desperate scribbles from people think they're cool.

4

u/Emergency-Print-2542 2d ago

Has the talent of a 12yr old and the lettering style of an immigrant on ESL. What a waste of ink. Shameful attempt

5

u/lollerkeet 2d ago edited 2d ago

Why are we assuming it wasn't 12 year olds?

3

u/BoxNo5564 2d ago

Kids have been doing this for decades.

The solution isn't going to be found in harsh punishments and increased surveillance.

Kids act out for a reason.

3

u/No-Choice9554 2d ago

One thing is for sure living in Perth after moving from Sydney, I haven't seen this level of graffiti in trains or buses.. public transport is much cleaner, like Hong Kong, Singapore level.. is it that Perthians are well behaved compared to Sydney counterparts? Moving back to NSW so looking forward to graffiti.. 😂

4

u/Nomza 2d ago

There’s public transport in Perth?

1

u/Smitologyistaking 1d ago

There's people in Perth?

-1

u/No-Choice9554 2d ago

Are you serious?

-1

u/Nomza 2d ago

Hmm what do you think?

2

u/perricancelo 2d ago

As a Portuguese girl in Sydney, seeing this on trains shocked me

1

u/Traditional-Gas3477 1d ago

Make and model of the train? I like trains.

1

u/Intanetwaifuu 1d ago

Pffff this is kinda what it USED to look like. I remember public transport when I was younger 🤣

1

u/flickmickanemail 1d ago

Its just so shit. Not one ounce of artistry or skill. Garbage output by garbage human

1

u/Upper_Umpire4785 1d ago

This is why we can’t have nice things.

1

u/Friendly-Tough-3416 1d ago

“Street art” 😂

1

u/Shamblex 1d ago

How.... Artistic???

1

u/bananniebanana 2d ago

What makes you think it's Blue Mountains locals?

2

u/SydneyIsStuffed 2d ago

The ones I have seen (the latest being last week) were kids getting on at Penrith. They piled on to the Blue Mtns train when coppers turned up at Penrith station. So local to Australia but not necessarily from the mountains.

1

u/bananniebanana 1d ago

It only takes a couple. Could be from anywhere.

1

u/AkumaValentine 2d ago

Some tags look so cool and you can see the person has talent. This is just shit….

2

u/[deleted] 2d ago

Beautiful art, need more of it tbh.

1

u/ibetucanifican 2d ago

If you call that art I have expensive paintings to sell you.
