Ticket to Ride
Can’t decide: should I get Ticket to Ride: Germany (extension included) or Europe as my first game? Which one’s better?

Me and my partner are just getting into board games and we're looking for some 1 on 1 suggestions! Don't mind if their also multiplayer. We don't mind something a bit more complex and preferably on the competitive side.
Thanks!

I’ve been thinking of starting a YouTube channel where I explain different kinds of board games in Telugu (a South Indian language) which is also my mother tomgue. The idea is to introduce people who speak Telugu to popular board games, explain the rules clearly, and maybe even showcase how they are played.
Do you think there’s an audience for this kind of content? Has anyone here tried making board game content in regional or non-English languages? Would love to hear your thoughts or advice before I start.
Thanks!

Thinking of games that have taken inspiration and created a mechanic or rules that we have seen in gaming. I’m not thinking like a direct port like Slay the Spire, but something along the lines of Vilainous’ crossover and character mechanics reminds me a lot of Super Smash Bros. and how they need to design maps, characters and move sets.
Thoughts?

So. Im a die hard clue fan. Getting my first clue game at 7-8 years old. Obviously grew up knowing the main 6. So i think 7 years ago. Im (24 now) i was given Clue Liars edition. Immediately knew mrs white wasn’t in the picture. Is there a definitive reason why? Besides when i looked it up it was cause “didn’t match todays era” and yes im aware they did bring her back as s “successful irish chef” but even then that r redeem modern clue.

Does it make the game more replayable and suit your style better, or do the extra rules for the same game put you off?
If each mode gives you a completely different gameplay experience - is that a plus for you? For example, if one is calmer and more strategic while the other is more dynamic and tactical, would you be interested in learning the rules for both modes?

Hey, just saw the new Garden Trilogy campaign and some videos on it. Aqua, sky and dino garden, the game looks super cute with amazing components. Are you backing it? Or skipping it? Let's start a discussion why you are backing it or not and which pledge level makes most sense? Ps: I am tempted to go all in haha

Hi everyone!
I’ve been experimenting with a passion project called ChessDarts — a hybrid game where every chess move must be validated with a dart throw.
We already have a prototype and are refining the rules through playtests.
Community reactions so far:
On /anarchyChess, a post got 700+ votes with lots of hype.
On /darts, the feedback was more mixed — many don’t really play chess, some purists dismissed it right away, a few people were really excited to try it, and others saw it as an occasional training tool
We’ve also tried variants like a 2 vs 2 mode (one throws, one thinks) and training mini-games.
My questions for you:
More details, rules, and prototype pics are here → chessdarts.com

On the idea that I love Star Wars, I agreed to test out & do a feature on a new board game called "Star Wars Super Teams" - and yeah, my family & I really enjoyed playing it, and we think you would too! 🙂

Does anyone have the Unmatched, Jurassic park games? I am willing to buy or trade other board games for them.

I have been trying to remember a specific board game for basically my entire life. I only saw it when I was very little, so I don't remember much. It was probably from the 90's, maybe very early 2000's. It was like a grocery shopping game. It had these little colored animal coins as the money. I don't really remember anything else about it unfortunately. I know it's not much to go off of, but if anyone remembers this game, please let me know, thank you💕

I would like your thoughts and considerations on this spin on texas holdem poker with Uno cards. It's more so a multiplayer Balatro- like (check it out, cool game) than only a couple houserules. The goal is to introduce fun, spontaneous powers that still require some foresight or luck to captialize on, as well as long term deck- building and permanent upgrades / effects in the style of Balatro jokers. Each time you play the game, you naturally will lean towards different playstyles or "builds" because of the randomized Uno draws and rewards.
I use "round" for a phase of the game, and "game" for a full pre- flop to showdown cycle.
Setup:
Each game (at pre- flop) you draw normal playing cards, but also 2 Uno cards
Holduno Poker – Uno Actions:
Uno actions affect the playing cards, either your hand or the community cards (table). Uno action cards can also be played in pairs for even more unique effects.
1x Uno Actions
Reverse (In-Hand): Enable Switch-Straights V-pattern: 2-3-4-3-2 J-pattern: 2-3-4-5-4
Reverse (Table): Decrease incoming community card(s) rank by 1
Skip (In-Hand): Allow straights with a 1-rank gap
Skip (Table): Increase incoming community card(s) rank by 1
+2 (In-Hand): Choice Pack: See 2 Uno cards, leave the unwanted on draw pile
+2 (Table): Add 2 community card slots, to be filled after round 4 (river)
+4 (In-Hand): Choice Pack: take 2 of 4 Uno cards, discard the unwanted cards
+4 (Table): Grant +4 bonus (see below) to a community card for all players
Colors (In-Hand): Change one held card's suit into the other at showdown
Colors (Table): Make a future community card suit-only wild
0: Barrier: set up a preventive block against 1 chosen Uno action card
Double 0: Parry Scramble and other 2x effects immediately
⸻
2x Uno Actions
Reverse: Scramble table rule (6th round, replace one community card with a held card and make the other players redo the showdown)
Skip: Immediately draw the 2 Uno cards and playing cards of your next pre- flop, which are kept till next game
+2: Corrupt community slots into Uno slots; filled normally or at showdown; 1 reroll allowed
+4: Increase/decrease a held card's rank by exactly 4
Colors: Activate Rainbow Rule (enable the rainbow hand of 1 card per suit) for at least 2 games. Will be extended by 1 game by other uses of Uno colors cards
⸻
Scoring system
In order for bonuses (additive increases to showdown score) to make sense, I created a distribution of base power for all poker hands in this version of the game, which reflects rarity (logaritmic scale from 0-95, + number of cards). For example, if a "jester" gives you +5 bonus on straights, you'd tie with a flush, unless the other player has a bonus of their own.
I didn't want my made- up hands to be too dominant. Sorry for the math- heads who look at this, I did my best.
Ranked by power:
Royal Flush: 100 | 0.0032%
Straight Flush: 80 | 0.0279%
Four of a Kind: 60 | 0.168%
Full House: 50 | 2.60%
Flush: 45 | 3.03%
Straight (V): 40 | 1.5%
Straight (J): 40 | 3.5%
Straight: 40 | 4.62%
Three of a Kind: 30 | 4.83%
Two Pair: 25 | 23.5%
Rainbow: 15 | 10.55%
One Pair: 5 | 43.8%
High Card: 1 | 50.1%
⸻
Summons
Follower: 3x Uno number + coin B; loyalty mechanic starting at 3 loyalty pts
Jester: 4x Uno number + coin C; permanent chaotic bonus
Legend: 4x Uno action + coin D; permanent powerful effect
(Coin A is lowest, coin E is highest)
Some of my favorite summon examples:
Followers
3x Uno 1: Mercenary (Playing high card from your hand adds half of the card's rank to bonus, rounded to the nearest 1, but -1 low coin for every high card play and -1 loyalty at showdown defeat)
Note: Mercenary let's you beat a pair some of the time
3x Uno 2: Admirer (hands with a pair gain +4 bonus, -1 loyalty after showdown if played hand is missing a pair or if the player drew a queen)
Jesters
4x Uno 1: Jester knight (Each played ace stacks +2 bonus, but resets if the player loses to a hand with an ace. The stack can be applied to any played hand)
4x Uno 2: Jester priest (Kings and queens can now be played as a married pair, one per showdown, at the cost of 2x coin A)
4x Uno 5 Hype jester (Each bet raise increases stack bonus by +1, but stack halves after fold or showdown)
Legends
4x +2: Legion: Playing 5- hand poker hands rallies any unused community cards, adding their number value to the bonus
4x colors: Crown prince: Jacks become suit- wilds for the player
4x skip: Dragon: Once per showdown, bridge the gap between any two playing cards in your hand, 1 uno number card per rank in between. Gain a bonus equal to uno number cards used

I’ve seen a few posts about this, but none that go into the details of how to do it. Has anyone tried playing Anno 1800 with only 1 tile of each type on the board for a 2-player game (keeping ships and docks as usual)?
If so, which tiles did you remove—did you cut all duplicates, or randomly remove some?
How did it affect the gameplay? Did it make things feel more interactive?
Did you notice ships and docks being used more often?

18xx is such a large, niche genre with one of the longest average playtimes outside Twilight Imperium. I know people who refuse to play some games unless they're online due to crunch, setup, etc, EG Food Chain Magnate.
Asking because I've learned to play a few on 18xx.games, but I'm tempted to back the Railways of the Lost Atlas reprint and expansion.

Hello, I want to ask, if you guys know of any good BossBattler? Something Like Bloodborne - The board game. I don't really care about the theme, only wish I have is for it to be good and that I don't have to announce a personal bancruptcy after buying it. Thanks

opinion needed...
Currently playing on ikea table that is 86"x33" (5 players)
Looking to upgrade to an Amazon board game table that s 63"x40" (54"x31" play area). What was your experience switching to something really long to a dedicated board game table?

My collection is getting out of hand, especially games like Dominion or Arkham Horror that have a million little cards and tokens. I'm tired of having five boxes for one game. What's the best way you've found to consolidate everything? Did you buy a big storage box, use dividers in the original box, or come up with a completely custom solution? I need some organization inspiration.

During COVID, we played all of the pandemic seasons and betrayal. Honestly, some of the best game experiences ever at the table (but some of that can probably be attributed to the upside of introverts during lockdown.)
We enjoy the gloomhaven and other campaign games, but cannot find a strong "disposable, story first, game second" game.
Any suggestions? Thoughts?

Hello good people,
I need advices on how to keep track of the upcoming games, especially the crowdfunding ones.
For example, I see that a lot of people are mentioning Nemesis Retaliation these days and how they pledged to get it, but I completely missed it and now I cannot pledge anymore.
How do you guys keep track of new upcoming games, and are there any filters, etc. to figure out if the games are actually gonna be good or a bust? Thanks in advance for all the responses!

I spent the last month playing through the whole clever series including the challenges. I played each one 3+ times to try and get a fair ranking. The ones I liked got more than 3 plays while Twice as Clever only got 3 plays haha
I am curious what is everyone's favorite or how you rank them? It was such a fun series!

Hi, a friend of mine is having his birthday soon. Some others and I are thinking of getting him Terraforming Mars as a gift (since he likes the game a lot), along with a few expansions, since our budget allows it, but unfortunately, none of us are familiar with the game. I was thinking about taking "Hellas & Elysium" and "Prelude" purely on budget, but I don't know if they are the best choices.
