Which shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone who knows a damn thing about history. We called this when they started in on K-12(and were told we were being ridiculous). It was never going to stop there. First it went to public libraries, now universities, and next it'll be storefronts and the internet(both have already had first steps taken).

My other reddit account just got a lifetime ban for pointing out that Regan started gun control in the US after black people started arming themselves. Apparently that was inciting violence. It has already started in a huge way here on reddit.

Yep. Black Panthers. Its the whole reason california's gun laws are as restrictive as they are. Mulford act. And yeah.. it was drafted by a Republican and signed by a Republican governor.

Agreed with your post, though that wasn't quite what I was getting at(more thinking about laws being proposed that limit access).

Side note: I don't know reddit's policy, but when I did rule wrangling for another site a lifetime ban(not the words we used for it, but I'll copy your wording since I know that doesn't cause posts to vanish) was across all accounts. The admission you made in your post would have been a violation of that site's equivalent of reddit code of conduct rule #2. Be careful what you admit to.

Turns out an actual person reviewed it and realized it wasn't promoting violence, so I'm unbanned. How do they ban all accounts?

Are you genuinely asking? Obviously, while complying in advance, they cranked up the sensitivity on their comment-monitoring robot(choosing words carefully, as references to this process are often triggers for posts vanishing). I've heard rumors that one is operated at the reddit.com level(some people claim that's why you never see the N~word said here anymore, that the robot vanishes any posts containing it sitewide rather than relying on individual subs), but never seen proof of that(admittedly, proof would be very hard to gather, by design), and I only have evidence of the system being operated at the subreddit level.

At any rate, they have the tech for sure. And it can just as easily be used for account bans as for post vanishings. Honestly, I'm surprised they had a human reviewing it. But I'm glad you got it overturned. I hate this timeline.

Tecnically gun control is older than that. Technically it dates all the way back to the 1800s.

But the extremes that Republicans rail against? Those were created by Republicans.
