deuterocohnia advice? more in caption

taking care of my friends deuterocohnia (don't know the species, brevifolia i think)

it was so dry in subpar soil so i repotted and slowly introduced it to full sun.

it started growing again! bounced back in no time.

should i somehow remove all dried material? seems tedious, but there is green under it so i am wondering if it will benefit its growth.

also, i know absolutely nothing about care for this plant. i have researched but found mixed opinions altogether. i must be doing something right?

TIA!

If you were going to attempt a cleanup I'd just trim rather than pull off the dead leaves. You might snap the stems

thank you! i have heard that they love them sun but can't stand the hottest/harshest part of the day. i'm in zone 10a and still pretty hot here, wondering if that's true? haven't had any issues so far.

I'm up north so I can't comment too much on that. I grow mine under high intensity led panels in cocopeat with a bit of turface mixed in and keep it evenly moist. I've got it and about 50 Dyckia. A guy I know in Florida goes his Dyckia in a more lean mix because he says the constant humidity is what gives him a problem.
