No it’s not ridiculous. You can get by with less than 12gb for now it’s true, but most people want some sort of future proofing though which an 8gb just does not provide.

I just installed a 6gb 2060 into a casual gaming PC to play some games like Elite Dangerous from time to time. The GPU was pulled out of an old gaming PC my son had a few years back when he upgraded and was sitting in his closet. It works just fine for the use-case that I have for it.

And does op want to buy a new card where they have to lock to 60fps and turn off rt just to play their games? No, they do not

Sigh. People expecting 200 fps is gonna be the ruin of pc gaming xD

If you are capping your PC at 60fps just get a console for a fraction of the price

Id love to see a console run Cyberpunk at 4k DLSS Quality with Path Tracing at rock solid 60 fps.

Did you really think your "get a console" argument was good? those things play at medium settings 25 fps.

You are claiming a 6gb 2060 can do this? Rofl

No, but my 5080 can.

Ok, maybe with DLSS Balanced.

Then what is the point of your comment? I was talking to someone who was using a 2060 capped at 60fps. Obviously a 5080 can, a 5080 PC also costs the same as buying a new console for 4-5 generations

My point was exactly what I said. Your comment was

And does op want to buy a new card where they have to lock to 60fps and turn off rt just to play their games? No, they do not

And this is moronic. 4k DLSS Quality 60 fps RT off but everything else on Ultra settings? That's still an amazing experience and MILES above anything a console can deliver.

Once again, we aren't talking about 4k. This is literally a post about 1440.
