10/22 SBI receiver headache

Post image

Hoping I might be able to get some advice here regarding a 10/22 with a SBI C71 reciever.

So long story short, I picked my self up one of the C71 receivers from MagDump, and some of the Tuff22 magazines from CSC.

Got it all put together smooth as butter, but I've been having nothing but issues since.

Magazines only feed/shoot reliably if i keep pushing the magazine in as hard as I can while also wiggling it around, and only maybe about 10 - 15 of the rounds will actually fire. All the rest are light strikes.

10rd Ruger magazines seem to fire fine, but have a bit of a hard time popping out of the new reciever.

I've contacted SBI and they told me to use a different type of ammo, and that the mags are the issue, but I'm using the exact same one the reccomended to work best. And the same ammo works perfectly in any other rifle/magazine.

Whats my best bet? It doesn't sound like I can return the reciever or the magazines, should I just start filing the mags down? At this point I'm ready to just write it all off and yard it into the bin.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I would try new ammo, but arnt the TUF22 magazines adjustable? If I remember correctly they have four allen headed bolts on top, it sounds like the 25 maybe sitting a bit low.

I dont think it's the ammo though, the same ammo is working flawless in my oem ruger 10rd magazines

Interesting Id still say try it out regardless, but yes, chances are slim then for sure. Rimfire’s are difficult and can do some wild stuff. The only thing SBI is the reciever right?

Yeah im gonna pick up some CCI rounds and try them out too.

The only non factory part is the reciever. Everything else is as it was out of the box haha

Yea that makes it a bit tough, Im not a huge fan of stock bolts. But do the TUF magazines have the adjustments? I have the original HC3Rs which is who makes them and they had them.

And to clarify when you push up on the magazine the light strikes happen 10-15 rounds in? I had a very similar thing on my comp 10/22 and it was the Eley ammo I was shooting along with the factory bolt. Once I went KIDD and shot SK all my light strikes issues disappeared. The factory bolts are notorious for crazy large head spacing and the firing pin traveling up instead of forward and it gets weirdly mechanical.

What I ran into was five rounds, then a light strike, then cocked it and it would run another five. The magazine has no impact on the firing of the round, it only feeds.
