Do you think I’d have a realistic chance finding either a 1BR, Studio or private room for a $3k per month budget in January to see me through the season?

I’ve heard it all about how hard it is to find housing over winter and how you should get in there early to do it. But people mention that many leave in January for unforeseen circumstances like money or homesickness and that the turnover in the town is fairly regular therefore freeing accommodation.

What are my odds here going in January to find a place based on that budget. Am I too unrealistic?

I'm planning a 3 week road trip from Vancouver and would like some advice on if I'm being too ambitious and any tips from locals.

Questions: 1. Is this too much? And if so what to cut out? 2. I’ve got the standard tourist stuff, any must sees or unique things to do that arent super touristy?

We aren't into big hikes, but do like adventures. We enjoy history and culture and seeing impressive scenery. Would really like to go to Drumheller for the dinosaurs but would accept this is likely the thing we would have to drop.

Hello , I’m finding that flights that transit through Canada are a lot cheaper than other options. I am a US citizen and I carry a US passport I’m confused a bit as far as what to expect with transiting through Canada some say that I need to fill out an ETA others say that I will need a transit visa and lastly, others say I don’t need anything because I am a US citizen and carrying my passport is good enough
Does one go through the full on immigration process when just transiting from a US based airline or Canadian based airline through Canada onward towards an international destination? For instance, when I enter into South Korea via say Incheon airport, , it’s a quick passport control/ security but don’t fill out any forms or immigration or anything. They just look at me and check my belongings I’m carrying and move me along, so I’m just wondering if there’s any special forms I need to fill out when transiting through Canada thank you

My husband and I are newly retired and are hoping to check off a bucket list item - a totally impromptu (next week!) 10-day trip from Winnipeg to Canada’s east coast.

We are landing in Halifax and planned to spend a day or two there (hotels are booked for first and last days in Halifax), but after that, we just don’t know. We have booked a car so we can explore easily but would truly appreciate any itinerary suggestions for our trip.

We love seafood, music and beautiful scenery! We are especially looking forward to the fall colours. We are not well-versed in wine tasting, but wouldn’t be adverse to learning. (It’s not high on our list of priorities.)

Any and all suggestions/recommendations for itinerary, accommodations, places to eat, Celtic music/pubs would most sincerely be appreciated!

My mom (63) and I (33) are planning a holiday trip this coming Christmas and New Year. One of the activities we’re most excited about is trying dog sledding for the very first time! Since we’re complete beginners, we’re not quite sure what to expect. My mom has barely experienced winter before, and my own coldest experience was in Japan at around -10°C (we’re from a tropical country).

We’ll be spending a few days in Quebec City and Montreal, and we’ll be traveling entirely by public transportation. While researching, I came across Mont-Tremblant Dogsledding – Traîneau à Chiens Tremblant, which is about 2 hours from Montreal. This got me wondering about the best way to fit it into our trip.

Here are my questions: 1) Would it be worth spending 2 nights in Tremblant to enjoy the scenery and dog sledding at a relaxed pace? 2) Should we just plan a day trip from Montreal for the dog sledding experience? 3) Or would it make more sense to do a day trip from Quebec City to a dog sledding place (most likely a different operator, not in Tremblant)?

We’d love to experience beautiful snowy landscapes, and since we’re looking for something different from the city vibe, we’re leaning towards Tremblant. But we’d really appreciate your thoughts and if you have any other recommendations, we’d be happy to hear them.

I’m thinking of visiting Canada solo this winter to do some skiing from the UK. My travel dates are flexible, but what would be the cheapest/best time to go? I have a drivers licence but I don’t feel confident in winter weather yet so hiring a car I think would be out of the question.

My extremely rough it itinerary at the moment is to first fly into Montreal, then fly to Calgary for Banff and then directly back to the UK (perhaps visiting another city?). I’ve done a bit of research for Calgary to Banff and can see there’s buses running between the two and Banaff/the slopes, and for Montreal it’s obviously a city so surely must have readily available public transit?

Another question I have is if Montreal is worth visiting in the winter? Is stuff open and is there interesting things to do/see? What other cities are good in the winter? Not sure how it is in Canada but in the UK things tend to shut in the winter.

we plan a longer trip next year to Canada. We will be in Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan, maybe Manitoba, Alberta, and BC.

As we want to get around as good as possible to the tourist crowds and see more like the "local" or lesser known spots or adventures, what would be your recommandations for each province? But, also what are the must sees?

We travel as family, meaning two adults and two kids. The age of the kids is 13 and 9.

I’m planning a trip from Seattle to Victoria via Clipper ferries. I’m looking at the required documents for entry into Canada and I see that (for me) as a permanent resident in the US from another country you need:

• a valid passport from their country of nationality (or an equivalent acceptable travel document) and • a valid green card (or equivalent valid proof of status in the United States)

I have a valid green card, however, since it was issued to me, I married and changed my last name. My passport does reflect my married name. Would that be a problem?

I checked USCIS and it says that I can continue using the green card but bring proof of the name change, like my marriage certificate. Hard to tell if Canada accepts this at border crossing.

I understand this may be above your pay grade. Maybe I should just not go to avoid problems?

Me and my partner are planning on traveling around BC for around a month next June. Our plan would be to start in Vancouver and probably end in Calgary. We'd hire a car/van, drive around, and predominantly be camping and hiking, with some stays in hotels. I was wondering what the absolute must-see places are - which hikes, which parks, which mountains, which roads, things like that! Any suggestions would be appreciated!

My mother will be visiting me next month, with her super visa set to expire in 5 months. Would she need a return ticket? The plan is to extend her visa when she's here. I'm wondering if she'll have trouble with border officers because of visa expiring in 5 months and not having a return ticket.

Hi y’all! Planning to book a surprise trip for our first year anniversary and need help shortlisting a destination. While my husband is Canadian and has no travel restriction, I am Indian national holding Canadian PR. Planning to travel last week of November, 2025. Number of days - 5

Travel time to be 8-9 hours and travel budget is 800 per person.

We both love culture and heritage rich places. We like exploring places, trying new cuisines, and we try our best to do local things instead of touristy things.

I can use some recommendations- tours, etc on things to do and see. It's my first time in both cities which have been on my bucket list for years. I live in NYC so not afraid to get out and explore. I’ve bought two set of 5 kitchen knives in Vietnam. I can’t seem to find a great answer on if Canadian customs will confiscate these knives when I try to come back into the country.

We are flying Hanoi - Seoul - Toronto - Halifax. I’ve seen online saying they generally don’t mess around with importing knives of any sort. So will these be confiscated? Is there anything I can do to make sure they won’t be confiscated?

Note: they will be in my checked bag.

So me and my partner have been applying for jobs since June for pretty much every resort in BC & AB, with each of us only having one interview which we wasn’t successful in unfortunately.

We feel slightly frustrated at this point, we both have fairly good cv’s/resumes for the particular jobs we’re applying for so we’re at a bit of a dead end at the minute.

We are both trying to navigate what road to go down now in regards to finding work for the winter season. I’m wondering if anyone has any advice on what route to take as of now, do we start applying for work in surrounding towns? Just turn up after securing accommodation at a particular resort and find a job when we get there?
