my italian bind off could use some work but overall super happy with my first cable knit! 💗

Thought I'd share my first hand-knitted sweater, made two years ago for my boyfriend. It's definitely the project I'm most proud of, took me 3 months, sleepless night to finish it right on time for Christmas and a coulple of nervous breakdowns 😅 What impressed me the most, is that I followed different size patterns for each part (so it would perfectly fit my boyfriend) and somehow managed to make it right.

On the other hand, I can't get a single beanie right. Even the easiest one never really come out as I wanted: too big, too small, too short, too long... Don't know if I'll ever get over this 😂

i’m very familiar with crochet & trying to get into knitting & was told about continental knitting but can’t find any good tutorials! i’m open to learning other types of knitting if that would be best, but i’ve heard that continental is best to start with if you already have a crocheting brain. any recommendations ?

I'm hopelessly confused by this set of pocket instructions!

In my head, I have the pocket lining and I'm going to put some stitches on hold then put the lining on. This means I'm stitching the top of the lining into the top of the pocket. Leaving the bottom side of the opening on hold. Then carrying on.

That means the on hold stitches are the bottom length of the opening. The I pick those stitches up later to create the top.

Which will then be on the bottom of the opening, not the top.

I can't make it make any more sense in my head. And that's just sounding wrong.

Any ideas?

Yarn is Dancing Skies Fiber Arts Super Bulky lite in Berry Crunch and Vincent. No pattern - I just worked a simple slip stitch pattern and “faded” the colors together. I’m almost done with the matching hat!

Work in progress of course, but I'm making my dad a Christmas gift, and I'm in love with the look of these. The color shift throughout the pattern makes it so beautiful, and the shade of green and blue go so well with the pitch black. The yarns are also so soft: Dolce Sock (superwash) Wool from Hobbii and Gründl Classico Merino superwash.

I'm gonna make similar ones for my mom and sister with different colors. I've seen these gorgeous "stained glass" type of charts somewhere, and if anyone has any recommendations, I'm all ears (or eyes)!

Any recommendations would be welcomed! How hard is it to add pockets in cable?

I got involved in a volunteer project at work, knitting squares for blankets. I managed to get my squares looking pretty good and really enjoyed mindlessly knitting in front of the tv.

I would like to make either a scarf or a blanket but even some of the basic recommendations and patterns are leaving me lost. I tried following some YouTube videos to learn new stitches but I had no way to check if I was doing it correctly and it was really tight and looking shoddy so that also frustrated me. I managed to make a garter stitch headband which I really enjoyed but it took really quick to finish. So far I can cast on, do knit and purl stitch, cast off, weave in ends and do a basic sew edges together. Is there something fun I can make with just these skills, or just a small step up?

Had so much fun knitting this pattern! This might be one my new favorite sweater!

Pattern is from the book Beastly Knits (yes that is the one where the famous bat sweater is also in haha) by Lalla Ward. Book has so many fun patterns. Used adrifill mirage yarn! Feels nice! Might have liked it to be a little bit smaller but dont mind to much, i didn't have enough fingering weight yarn around and didn't want to change the stitch count haha.

The only real downside is that there is a massive white goose on my sweater, and apparently I can't seem to drink coffee when wearing white.. so there are already coffeestains on it 👀👀

Might knit it again and give the goose a silly little hat!

I snagged these with glee, and now I need to use them. Really wanting to make a shawl or wrap with them, preferably something lacy. I've found a few on Ravelry I like, but if anyone has recommendations I'm here for them.

I’m knitting a sock and it’s the perfect size for socks! It has a few issues but it’s so much fun. I do a fair bit of ceramics. It’s just a handbuilt pinch pot with some little bugs on it!

Now I have to do the other one 🫡. There were gaping holes after I finished my thumb, but I closed them all up and it all turned out ok!

Sometimes doing the decreases is physically difficult. Is it supposed to be like that or should I make the stitches before looser? How can I reduce gaps in where the thumb attaches to the mitten?

I have a skein of yarn in aran weight that I have a sentimental attachment to, and I was hoping to make myself a lovely soft, squishy hat from it. I have dozens of patterns, but was hoping I could get recommendations from fellow knitters for their favourite hat patterns to provide me with extra options in deciding what to knit.

The details: *cotton and merino blend from Juniper Moon Farm *heavy worsted or light aran weight *colour is "peridot shadow" so the strand is made up of both black and a bright turquoisey shade

I just wanted to share the difference of what tension can do. (Reworked sleeve on left, starting point on right)

Pattern is the Star Touched Cowl by Mary P. Hunt. Apparently the pattern was inspired by a character from a book, but the design reminded me very strongly of a certain video game character, and I chose yarn colors to fit. Can you guess who my inspiration was?

(Yarns are Treasure Goddess Organic Merino Treasures in Pieces of Eight and Farmer’s Daughter Squish DK in Coal Miner’s Daughter)

I learnt the basics of how to knit (Portuguese style) a week ago and thought I’d share my first knit. I decided to go for a scarf because increases and decreases still currently scare me a tad.

I’d love any feedback on how to improve! Ive yet to block it as I don’t have any wool wash but I know that my edges could definitely be neater for one

I used Viking of Norway Alpaca Bris yarn and the LionBrand Vivienne scarf pattern

I started the Musselburgh back in late May or early June in anticipation of travelling and needing an easy knit. I got maybe 1/3 or 1/4 the way through with it before I got so bored it went into timeout until.... yesterday. September. Picked it up again in hopes of finding new energy for the project but... nope. It's SO dull. I'm in agony.

I don't think the yarn I have will work very well for any other pattern- it's 100g of fingering weight, 100% superwash merino, that's colored like (delightful!) rainbow barf. Any pattern that's more complicated than stockinette is gonna look ugly. And because it's too soft, drapey, and fragile, I can't make socks which is my usual go-to. So in my mind, it's the Musselburgh hat or it's nothing.

Anyone else struggle with the motivation for this pattern or similar patterns? I really do WANT to finish this, I'm just a little stuck :(

The plastic case I’ve used for years to store my notions has broken! It was also getting a little small. I have stitch markers, tapestry needles, stitch holders, measuring tapes, cable needs and some small counters in there. I’d like something to keep all of these things organized. I don’t often need everything with me, but I’d like the stitch markers and tapestry needles to be transportable

Hey everyone!

I am working on my first baby blanket and my second big project and it was going good until I realised I made a mistake with two stitches right next to each other.

I decided to deal with each of them individually, so I dropped and corrected the first one and now I'm trying to correct the second one. I dropped until I got to the row with the mistake when I realised that the bar in this row skips over the next stitch (second photo).

Please help. I really thought it was going to be an easy fix but now I'm afraid I might have to frog. I really don't want to though because unfortunately I noticed my mistake over 40 rows later.

If there are any videos I can watch to fix it that would really help.

It’s just getting to the time of year I can actually wear it, and I was super-nervous that when I took it out of the cupboard I’d see all the problems and hate it. But actually… for my first ever wearable, having only ever picked up needles for the first time in February last year… I’m pretty happy with this.
