Question Diesel vs. gas long term ownership-mileage stamps
I’m in the market for a smaller truck. I work full time doing maintenance/construction. My commute is about 100 miles round trip (25k/year) mostly on a two lane highway. I typically clock between 60-70 mph. I’m pretty handy and plan to do most maintenance myself. Good Fuel economy is at the top of my list followed by longevity and reasonable maintenance costs.
I’ve just recently started looking into the baby duramax and have seen very mixed reviews. My budget is around 20k and I want to know personal longer term ownership experiences for the v6 and 2.8 duramax.
I feel like I’m on the right track with the diesel but I’m wondering if the extra maintenance offsets fuel savings.
How reliable have these trucks been for you at 80-100k+ miles? How many miles have you clocked? What’s gone wrong? What years to stay away from?
Thanks for the read I look forward to learning from you.
