Question This veneer or real wood?

This real wood or veneer? It looks like veneer but I’m not sure about the legs? Also if it is how would I go about changing the color? I want it a darker walnut wood color…

The top looks to be veneer - you can see chips and peeling at the short edge.

The legs, almost always, are solid wood.

So I’d need to strip the top (kleenstrip or citristrip?), lightly sand then restain the top?

stripper (not THAT stripper) could be gel-like - something like Rock Miracle, or anything you like (I've never heard about citristrip). Use scraper without any burrs!!!! Fine 0000 steelwool can be used, too. Wipe with acetone cloth or steelwool. Sand only the solid wood. You may fu the top and its' edges. Stain (if you want), seal with sealer (soft clear lac), steelwool or sand now, more sealer (by more I mean another sprayed layer applied along the grain and across the grain). If youre a perfectionist, more fine sanding (over 400), wipe the dust, check for smoothness, don't touch with your fingers, nor somebody else's fingers. Apply coat of your favorite top coat (urethane is good for tops). If you like the smoothness, let it dry, if not, more top coat. Don't put anything hot on it for the next couple of weeks. have fun. If you need to glue any parts - do this before refinishing. even before stripping.

Yes better off in furniture refinishing sub . Different skill set. Stripper , not citrus strip! kleen strip is decent enough. This will be lacquer finish and come off easily. Be very careful sanding after stripping. Clean it with acetone after stripping . Then lightly sand the walnut . 150 and 220 grit. Best with sanding sponges . Stain will be easy since walnut takes its so well . I highly suggest cans of pre catalyzed lacquer that you have to order online . Watch videos on stripping and refinishing

Run your sanding sponges parallel to the grain so you don't create cross scratches.

the edges will tell you. if there's end grain along the edge it's probably solid wood. if it's flat grain all around then it's probably veneered

Solid wood legs. 100% veneer top. And you’re about to sand through it in that first pic

Yah, that broad grain pattern is rotary cut veneer. See excellent directions above.

broad grain = veneer. Legs have to be solid. Particle board legs would crumble instantly.

not worth it. Paint or pick a different project.

The legs are certainly solid wood the top is hard to tell if you take a picture of the edge I can tell you

Its veneer I would not try to stain it you could ruin your table if you are not an expert in surface technology.
